Kelly’s POV
I imdiately rushed inside the Anderson’s mansion as soon as I got out of Pierce’s car. I saw Emily sitting on the couch. Beside her was Phoebe.
I felt my heart racing inside my chest. I’ve grown trauma. After everything that happened to , things like this scares easily. I feel like I will lose another person on my side again and it scares .
“Emily, what happened?” I asked worriedly, earning her attention.
Emily looked at as I walked towards her and sat on the couch across from her. Pierce entered and sat on the arm rest of the couch where I was sitting. His hand rested on my shoulder.
I can feel his worry, his support, his comfort. Pierce has always been like this. Supportive. And I’m so thankful that we accepted each other again.
“Last night Matt told everything he discovered and since then, he hasn’t shown up. I just feel like it’s strange since he sses with everyday.”
That’s really strange. From what I witness, Matt likes Emily. So there’s no way he’d disappear without a word. It is strange and I feel that it involves his father.
“Do you think he was caught by his father?” I asked.
Emily shrugged her shoulders and showed her phone. “I have the recording that Matt gave to .”
“Play it,” I said and she nodded. She put her phone on the coffee table.
‘Hello?’
My eyes widened as I glanced at Emily and Pierce. I know that voice very well. I have talked to him several tis on the phone and I can’t be wrong.
‘Are you sure all the docunts are burned down?’
I balled my fists. So, that was the docunt they burned purposely?
‘Yes, Mr. Foster.’
‘She’s still investigating. My son is already so curious about what’s happening. Just make sure that Kelly will never find any more evidence that will prove my involvent in her mother’s death. I’m telling you, I’ll drag you with if Kelly manages to bring down.’
I squeezed my eyes closed as I felt Pierce’s hand caressing my shoulder as if calming down. But I couldn’t be cald down now that I confird his involvent.
‘The docunts are all gone, Mr. Foster. I made sure of it so you have nothing to worry about.’
‘Good.’
I lifted my face and looked at Pierce. “I know that voice. It’s Attorney Lee.”
Pierce looked at worriedly. “Are you sure?”
“Yes!”
Why did he do that? Why did Attorney Lee set my house on fire purposely after he gave the docunts? He could’ve burned it even before he found . And if he wants to bury the truth, why did he still find ?
What were his reasons for doing all of this?
There was a noise on the recording, stealing my attention again.
‘Attorney Lee, you have to help get my company back. I’m telling you, you can’t slack off like this! I need to get back to my position as soon as possible!’
I was right! It’s him!
‘I’m sorry, Mr. Foster. I don’t know what Kelly is planning.’
‘You didn’t know because you cut off your connection with her!’
‘I have to, Mr. Foster. She’ll doubt . I can’t lose my job.’
‘You will really lose your job if you don’t help . I will drag you in hell with , Attorney Lee. Rember that I know what your father did years ago. You will lose everything, I’m telling you.’
Attorney Lee’s father? My heart raced. I don’t know but the only thing that crossed my mind was the kidnapping incident. Was Attorney Lee’s father involved in my mom’s abduction?
I swallowed hard and sucked my breath angrily. My fists are now balled and trembling. He played with . Did he just help to play with or was he initially trying to help but my evil uncle blackmailed him?
I don’t care anymore. They both deserve to be punished. They deserve to rot in jail for what they did to my mother and to .
“There’s more, Kelly...” Emily said as she focused her eyes on the screen of her phone.
I swallowed hard, readying myself for the worse thing I’d discovered today.
‘Follow Kelly Monroe. Make sure you know everything she does and especially her plans.’
I laughed without humor. The voice recording ended after that and a deafening silence filled us. I saw Phoebe staring at with a worried face. Emily stared at her phone while Pierce held my hand, squeezing them.
I’m thinking of confronting Connor Foster, but I know it will only alarm him. The last thing I wanted was to allow them to get away from this.
“What will you do now?” Emily asked after she stared at the screen of her phone and sigh.
“I’ll let them do what they want.”
Emily’s forehead creased. “Kelly, they’re gonna spy on you. We don’t know who the person he sent to spy on you, but you can’t let him do what he wants.”
I shook my head. “I can’t repel, Emily. He’ll realize that I know his plans.”
“Matt was probably caught. He must’ve known about this.”
“We’re not sure about that. For now, I’ll let him watch my every move. For now, I need you to help find out whoever he sent to spy on .”
Emily stared at for a long ti before she sighed again and nodded.
“I’ll find Matt,” I said, reassuring her.
She shook her head and pursed her lips. “I’m not worried about him, Kelly. Besides, we broke up.”
My brow shot up. “You broke up with him?”
She smirked. “It’s not like we’re in a serious relationship.”
I pressed my lips together. Sothing’s different. Emily called days ago asking about certain feelings. I know he grew feelings for Matt and now she’s acting like she doesn’t care. Even when she called earlier, sounding so scared and worried.
Sothing happened and I know I can’t cross this line.
I wet my bottom lip and nodded at Emily. “Thank you, Emily. Be careful, please? I don’t wanna lose a good friend.”
She smiled. “I’m gonna use my father’s resources to find out whoever’s spying on you. You can trust on this, Kelly.”
“I know...” I answered and looked at Pierce. I squeezed his hand as he looked at worriedly.
“Do you wanna delay the wedding?” He asked worriedly. His eyes were concerned and disapponted because of what’s happening.
I am disappointed too. But I won’t let this affect us.
I imdiately shook my head. “Our world won’t stop just because of them, Pierce. We will proceed to the wedding. Rain or shine.”
