Kelly’s POV
I was driving my car to the company early in the morning when I saw a familiar man standing on the road side. He’s talking to a man older than him and it seems to that they’re arguing.
I parked my car and slowly walked towards them.
“Just accept it because I have an urgent eting. Or if you want, you can just give your contact and I’ll have my assistant contact you about the damage.”
The older man scoffed. “What do you an? Are you trying to get away? Not because you’re a rich foreigner doesn’t an you can get away from this. You run into ! My back is hurting.”
I slowed down and tilted my head. Mr. Walter clenched his jaws. He’s arguing with an older man on the street and I think the old man is actually harassing him.
“Excuse ...” I stepped in, unable to watch the drama anymore.
They both looked my way and the old man seed shocked that I stepped in. He looked tense now—a sign that he’s actually lying about his pain.
“Miss Monroe...”
I smiled at Mr. Walter. “I saw you, so I stopped for a while. Is there sothing wrong?”
“No, I just...” he paused and sighed. “I accidentally hit him and he doesn’t want to go to the hospital.”
“You have an urgent eting, right?”
“Yeah.”
I nodded. “I’ll take care of this, Mr. Walter. Your eting is important. You should go.”
He looked at the old man and he looked very hesitant. I smiled again and looked at the old man.
“I will talk to you on behalf of him, sir. I am his lawyer.”
The old man panicked even more. He imdiately turned his back on us and walked away at a very fast pace.
“W-What? Wait...your injury...” Mr. Walter’s voice drowned in the air as soon as he realized that he was scamd.
He clenched his jaws and took his eyeglasses off. “Damn!”
I chuckled and looked at his face. “It is very troubleso to be a foreigner, huh?”
He looked at , without his glasses, and I was srized. He has a beautiful pair of eyes.
He put his eyeglasses back and scratched the back of his neck. “Please tell I wasn’t scamd when I paid a woman last week after I bumped her car...”
I cupped my mouth. “Oh my God!”
His lips parted and after a few minutes, he started laughing. I laughed too while looking at him in disbelief.
“Mr. Walter, you almost got scamd twice.”
He sighed and shook his head. “I guess I need to call my lawyer whenever I encounter weird accidents.”
I smiled and glanced at my wrist watch. “You’ll be late for your eting.”
He nodded. “Yeah... But, can I invite you later...to thank you for helping today.”
I nodded. “Sure. What ti.”
He smiled, still staring into my eyes. “I’d like to have dinner with you, but I’m sure you will go ho early because of your daughter.”
“Why not?”
His lips parted. “You’ll agree to dinner?”
“Yeah.” I smiled and shrugged my shoulders. “I also want to thank you for the opportunity you gave when I was working for you.”
He nodded. “So...see you later?”
I waved at him as I slowly took a step backwards. “See you later.”
I smiled and nodded at him again as I drove away. I’m thankful to him for trusting so much that he promoted even when I don’t have any background information to show. He was very considerate and a good boss. Although, I’m a bit distant to him because of what Mary has been feeding my mind.
I worked all day at the company again. It was Pierce who reminded to eat lunch because he ca to my office again, carrying food for us.
“You need to eat on ti. What if you get sick?” Pierce was very serious while preparing our lunch.
I was just watching him, thinking about so random things. Random like...why is he doing this? Is he trying to be friends with again or he’s courting ?
“Here...” He handed a plate full of food. Now, I’m starting to think if his mother really cooked this or if he’s forcing her everyday to cook.
“Pierce...” I called as he started eating. “Are you courting ?”
He choked and coughed. So of the rice from his mouth landed on my lap and he imdiately wiped it with a table napkin. I didn’t mind because I’m waiting for his answer.
I don’t know how I got the courage to ask that but that’s what I really want to know.
He slowed down as he swallowed hard and looked at . “I... Do you...want to?”
Now he asked that, I felt my cheeks start burning. Does it sound like I want him to court or did I unconsciously deliver a hidden ssage?
He looked away. “I want to...I know I said I won’t force myself into you again but...I still want to try my luck and...court you.”
I wasn’t actually wrong. That was his intention.
He sighed and looked down. “Am I making you uncomfortable? Is this too fast?”
“You were so slow,” I said unconsciously.
“Huh?”
I looked away. “You want us to try again?”
“Desperately, baby...”
I took a deep breath and looked him in the eyes. “Can you deal with my issues? Can you accept my shortcomings? I’m not the sa Kelly I was before, Pierce. I was wounded. Heavily wounded and I have so many insecurities now. I’m afraid of taking the risk again...even with the assurance.”
He slowly nodded. “I understand but I want you to know that I’m willing to wait. I can deal with your issues. I don’t care about your shortcomings and I’ll help you heal your insecurities...with assurance.”
I smiled at him but it didn’t reach my eyes. “That’s the Pierce I know...but that’s also the Pierce who broke .”
He looked down, unable to say any single word.
“I want to try again, Pierce. Just...give so ti while proving to that you deserve a second chance.”
He knew I can’t refuse him forever that’s why he kept coming back and trying. He knew...that I have feelings for him. He’s just denying it because he’s guilty for hurting .
