At Crimson Leaf Café.

The first thing that caught Abigail’s attention when she entered the café was a man standing behind the counter next to Lana. She looked extrely cheerful while making coffee beside him. Her eyes bead at him with adoration.

The man was not tall but not short either; Lana’s head only reached his jaw. He had tan skin and a long fringe hairstyle. His black-frad glasses made him look stylish and younger despite being older than Lana.

’Is that Kian? He must be—’ Abigail muttered as she walked toward the back door to the staff lounge. But before she passed the counter, Lana saw her and called her to co behind the counter.

"Abigail! You ca early. Co here..." Lana couldn’t hide her excitent as she watched Abigail walk toward her. "Girl, let introduce you to Kian. He is our old Barista. In fact, he was my café’s first Barista." She pointed at Kian behind her without looking at him.

"Kian, this is my friend and our colleague Abigail. Rember what I told you about her? Here she is," Lana said, glancing over her shoulder.

Abigail looked at Kian with a faint smile as she accepted his outstretched handshake.

"Hello, Kian. I’m glad to finally et you. Lana ntioned you so many tis before, I lost count," she said, trying to be polite with her joke despite feeling that this man’s aura was strange.

"Hahaha, did she? Well, Nice to et you, Abigail. You look exactly like what Lana described," he replied, firmly holding Abigail’s warm hand.

"Really? What did she say about ?" Abigail asked, glancing montarily at Lana and narrowing her eyes as if trying to read her mind.

However,

When she turned back to Kian, she felt tense as she noticed him wink playfully.

Abigail felt displeased with his attitude. ’Gosh, this man! We only just t, but he cos off as overly friendly!?’ She quickly withdrew her hand and tried to calm her expression.

"Lana ntioned that you are beautiful and a diligent worker. Thank you for helping her during my absence, Abigail..." Kian said with a grin, displaying his best smile. However, Abigail once again chose to ignore his friendliness.

Abigail turned her gaze from Kian and back to Lana. "Alright, guys, you need to get back to work," she said, gesturing toward the custor now waiting in line at the cashier.

"I’ll be in the staff room..." Abigail continued as she hurried inside. She didn’t want to distract either of them.

She was in no rush to assist Lana since Kian was there to help her.

While waiting for her shift to start, she checked her cell phone. For so reason, she worried about Sawyer, who still hadn’t called her.

"Oh my goodness! Why do I always forget to charge my phone?" Abigail muttered, noticing that her cell phone was running out of battery.

After plugging her phone into the power outlet to charge, she put on her apron and sat near it briefly before turning it on.

Suddenly, the vibrations of incoming text ssages flooded in, causing her to laugh wryly as she glanced at her phone on the table. She waited a few minutes for all the texts to co through.

"Sawyer, I’m so sorry..." Abigail muttered softly when she saw his many missed calls. She rembered her cell phone vibrating a few tis when she talked to Brody before leaving the house.

She also saw so many of his text ssages, and Abigail felt even more guilty as she tried to read them.

"Hi, Abby. I just wanted to let you know that I’ve arrived."

"I went straight to a eting in the city and couldn’t call you, but I will call you in a few minutes."

"Abby, I called you several tis, but you didn’t answer."

"Have you gone to the café?"

"Don’t forget your lunch, Abby."

"I wanted to ntion that I might finish my business here sooner than expected and get back to you soon."

"Abby, it’s already two o’clock, and you haven’t replied to my text ssages. Your cell phone is not active, either."

"You make worry, Abby. Should I report to the police and ask them to check on you?"

"Abby? Please reply! It’s almost ti for your work to start, and you haven’t responded."

...

Taking a deep sigh, Abigail imdiately replied to Sawyer’s text ssage, informing him that her phone was out of power. Again.

She also promised to call him later when she finished work. She couldn’t call him now, as there were only a few minutes left before her work shift started.

However,

Her phone vibrated again before she could join Lana at the front counter. She turned to check and was surprised to see it was a call from Sawyer.

After thinking briefly, she decided to pick up his call.

"Sorry, Sawyer. Ugh, I know... I’m also confused about why I never pay attention to my phone’s battery. And I guess my phone is broken. The battery has been draining so fast lately," Abigail sighed deeply.

"I will buy the latest phone for you here, along with a few external batteries, so I can still call you if you run out of battery..." he said earnestly, causing Abigail’s jaw to drop.

"No need, Sawyer."

Abigail was speechless. She was just making an excuse, but this man took it seriously.

"This phone is still good as long as I’m careful about its battery; I always forget to check it when I’m in the middle of my work. You don’t need to buy a new one for . Just keep reminding about my phone’s battery," she chuckled.

Sawyer’s laughter ca from the other end, making Abigail feel relieved.

"Alright, I will. So, how’s your day there?" he asked.

Abigail inford Sawyer about eting with a client for a new design project today. She also ntioned receiving a significant contract offer from the client but did not tell him the client’s identity.

"Abby, congratulations! I’m so proud of you," Sawyer said sincerely, making her heart swell with joy.

"Thank you, Sawyer. About your idea, I think I’ll speed up my plans," she replied.

"You an setting up an office?" Sawyer asked.

"Yes, I will start accepting design projects while I set up my office," Abigail explained.

"That sounds great. We’ll discuss it when I return," Sawyer said.

"Oh, Sawyer, I miss you already. I hope your work there finishes faster."

"I miss you more, Abby. I will try to return faster—"
