A few days later.
After Abigail officially started dating Sawyer, her life changed dramatically. They t every day, and he called or texted her almost every hour, showering her with an abundance of attention.
Abigail had never experienced such constant attention from anyone, especially a man—this was a new and delightful experience for her.
However, just before he left her house last night, Sawyer suddenly ntioned that he needed to fly to another country this morning and would be back over the weekend. They had plans to visit Orange Town to see her grandmother.
Even though Sawyer had only departed a few hours ago, Abigail was already missing him. This was the first ti she hadn’t received any ssages or calls from him for more than four hours.
"Why is there no news from him? Didn’t he say the flight was only three hours?" Abigail muttered as she rushed out of the house.
She will have a eting with Andy Bennet’s secretary today. They will discuss the second project and sign a contract for it.
Abigail was grateful that Amanda agreed to et at the restaurant near her café. This way, she wouldn’t have to commute to the café after their eting; she could simply walk there afterward.
As Abigail rushed to the gate, Brody suddenly appeared again, driving towards her in his car.
"Hello, Miss Abigail. Nice to see you. Are you going, mm, out?" he asked politely but awkwardly, and his nervousness was visible on his pale face.
Abigail stopped when she saw Brody’s car co to a halt. "Hello, Brody. Uhm, yes," she replied, a hint of suspicion in her voice.
She couldn’t explain it clearly, but Brody’s attention made her uncomfortable. Almost every day, as she made her way to the café, he would show up and offer her a ride.
At first, when she was in a hurry, she would hop in his car without hesitation. However, lately, sothing crossed her mind: Brody likes her. That’s why he is always so kind to her.
It seems she needs to draw boundaries with him. She doesn’t want to give Brody hope. She wants to let him know she loves her boyfriend and doesn’t want to move on to another man.
"Would you like to co with ? I can drive you to work. The place I drive to will pass your café." Brody offered.
Abigail silently sighed as she approached Brody’s car. She didn’t open the door but stood near the passenger door to speak to him.
"Thank you for your offer, Brody, but I’m not heading to the café. I’m heading in the opposite direction of the café." Abigail smiled when she saw him looking stunned. "And Brody, please, stopped to offer a ride. I’m afraid my boyfriend will be jealous if he knows about it..."
Brody’s jaw dropped at her words, and his face had just beco paler. He quickly adjusted his expression, worried that he might reveal too much. All this ti, he had been offering her a ride simply because his boss—her boyfriend—had asked him to.
If Boss Sawyer hadn’t ordered him to drive her to the café every day, he wouldn’t have dared to do it. He knew his boss truly loved this woman, and he had been acting like a devoted boyfriend in recent days.
However, Brody felt confused about how to be honest with Abigail. He realized he needed to text his boss, Sawyer, to let him know that Miss Abigail was starting to beco suspicious.
"You rember my boyfriend, right? The man you saw the last ti."
Abigail’s words snapped Brody out of his thoughts. He nodded, confirming her question.
"Ah, that man. Yes, Miss Abigail. I surely rember a man with his composure and elegance. His na is Mr. Sawyer, correct? Or are you referring to soone else?" Brody asked, deliberated, clueless about it.
"Yes, that’s him, Sawyer," Abigail’s eyes lit up as she thought about Sawyer. "Brody, he’s the only man I allow in my house. Just between us, he can be a really jealous boyfriend. I’m worried he might get angry if he finds out you always offer a ride to work."
Abigail sighed softly after saying this. She was concerned that Sawyer’s jealousy might cause Brody to lose his job in the household.
"Ups, I’m really sorry, Miss Abigail, I’m clueless about it. I thought your boyfriend was a nice and gentle person..." Brody tries to follow her conversation, gossiping about his boss.
Abigail can’t help but laugh when she hears Brody say, "Hahaha, he is indeed nice and gentle, but my boyfriend could be mad, too, if soone tries to flirt with . He might get jealous and use violence."
Brody tries hard to maintain his expression. He was holding his laugh.
"Well, Brody, I appreciate your offer, but please never offer to ride your car again for your safety." She explains and apologizes to him simultaneously. She feels awkward and terrible now.
When Abigail was in a terrible mood, Brody was in the opposite mood. He finds this situation amusing.
’Damn! Miss Abigail is quite the natural gossiper. Should I ask Ethan to add her to our group chat?’ Brody chuckled to himself at the thought.
"No worries, Miss Abigail, I understand. To be honest, I feel the sa way about my girlfriend, which is why I never let you sit beside ," Brody said with an awkward smile.
Abigail nods. He is indeed correct. "Alright, thank you, Brody. I shall be on my way now."
Brody waved his hand, grinning as he watched Abigail disappear behind the small tal door.
"How funny..." he chuckled. "How could she think I’m interested in her? If I were, Boss Sawyer would definitely send to the afterlife."
Just as Brody was about to drive back his vehicle in the underground parking, his cell phone suddenly vibrated in his pocket, startling him. He quickly checked his phone and was surprised to see the na displayed on the screen.
A small smile crept onto his lips as he answered, "Hello, Mr. Sawyer..."
"Brody, I tried calling Abby several tis, but she didn’t answer her phone. Can you check on her for ? Check discreetly. I’m worried that sothing might happen to her." Sawyer said, his voice filled with concern.
"Sir, I thought you knew Miss Abigail was going sowhere?" Brody replied, raising his eyebrows slightly in shock.
