"V!? I thought you would wait in the basent," Ethan chuckled. But Vincent rely gave him a deadpan expression.

"You are indeed so slow, Ethan!" Vincent sounded annoyed as he approached him. "Anyway, do you know who Lady Boss’s client is?" He felt curious and worried at the sa ti.

"Yo, V, you are certainly suited to be Miss Abigail’s bodyguard," Ethan said, chuckling, leaning back in his chair.

"Answer !" Vincent insisted, still irritated. He feared a threat and wanted to know who his Lady Boss’s client was. However, Ethan decided to toy with him a bit, testing his patience.

"Alright. You won’t believe who Miss Abigail’s client is," Ethan said, smiling mysteriously. That only frustrated Vincent further.

"Damn it, Ethan! Don’t make use violence on you for an answer!"

"Hell, V... you need to control your emotions, man," Ethan laughed, noticing Vincent’s face turning red angrily and visibly impatient. But when he saw Vincent approaching him, ready to throw a punch, he quickly added, "It’s Andy Bennet!"

Vincent was surprised. But later, relief washed over him at the thought of Abigail eting Andy Bennet. She would be fine.

"That’s good. I worried for nothing—" Vincent comnted as he walked to the seating area. "Did you get permission to check her cell phone?"

"No, but when I saw her eting Andy’s secretary, I decided to check Andy’s phone, and you won’t believe what I found out." Ethan’s expression darkened.

Hearing Ethan’s words, Vincent stopped in his tracks. He was taken aback to see Ethan so angry.

"What happened?" Vincent asked, concerned.

"Andy is interested in Miss Abigail. I think he’s trying to pursue her."

"What the FUCK did you just say?! Did you tell Boss Sawyer about that!?"

"I sure did. And Boss Sawyer is on his way here—"

They both fell silent, thinking about what would happen if Andy persisted in trying to pursue Abigail.

Two hours earlier, at the Jones family house:

Sawyer parked his car beside a vehicle he recognized.

As he exited his car, Sawyer nodded slightly to his mother’s chauffeur, who greeted him before entering the house.

He was already imagining the awkward conversation that awaited him with either his father or mother. His mother called and texted him the day before, complaining about being left out of lunch yesterday.

Fearing that she would scold him, he began to feel exhausted and regretted coming to this place.

But now, returning was not an option.

Sawyer sighed deeply as he walked toward the living room.

"Good morning, Grandma, Mom," he greeted as he approached the sitting area.

"Oh, Sawyer, you finally arrived," Martha said, her eyes lighting up. She urged him to join them, but Sawyer declined.

He hadn’t planned to chat; he was worried his mother would scold him. He just wanted to see his Grandpa and leave.

"Grandma, where’s Grandpa? He asked to co and see him..."

"Son, your Grandpa is in his study. There’s no need to rush; co here and talk with us first," Hannah Walker replied, trying to get his attention.

Hannah was still upset because her only son had not allowed her to et Abigail. Even yesterday, he hadn’t invited her to join them for lunch.

"I’m sorry, Mom, but I’m in a hurry. I’ll talk to you later," Sawyer responded.

"My son, why are you being so heartless to your mother?" Hannah said softly. "If you don’t want your father to et Abigail, the least you should do is to inform . You know I will co alone..."

Sawyer let out a deep sigh.

"Thanks for the advice, Mom. I’m sorry I forgot to call you. I promise I’ll do better next ti. I got to go. I’ll see you later. I Promise!" he said before excusing himself.

Martha stopped Sawyer before he could leave. "Sawyer! Hold up, Please. How about breakfast? Let ask the chef to prepare it for you," she suggested.

"Uhm, thanks, Grandma, but I already had breakfast with Abby," he replied hurriedly, heading to his grandfather’s study.

Hannah felt even more gloomy as she watched her son completely ignore her. He stubbornly kept Abigail away from them, making excuses whenever she called him to bring Abigail to their house.

With a deep sigh, Hannah turned to Martha and asked, "Mother, can you call next ti they co here, please? I’m begging you," However, she knew Martha couldn’t do anything. All she could do was lower her gaze to her hands resting on her lap, trying to hide her emotions.

Seeing her daughter-in-law so sad made Martha feel terrible, but she also felt powerless to help her. She knew that Sawyer loved his mother, but it was difficult for him to express that love because of the scars his father had left on his heart.

"You know Sawyer better than I do, Hannah. If I betray him—like calling you yesterday to join us—he will never co here again and bring Abigail."

Hannah nodded weakly. She understood but still felt sad and angry. After the last video call with Abigail a month ago, she longed to et her in person.

"Oh dear, Hannah. Please be patient. Believe , our Sawyer will soften one day..." Martha couldn’t finish her words when sothing crossed her mind.

"Mother? What happened?" Hannah asked, confused by her sudden silence. Martha seed lost in a trance as if sothing had struck her.

"Are you alright, Mother?" Hannah gently tapped Martha’s arm.

Snapping out of her thoughts, Martha smiled and looked at Hannah.

"Hannah, there’s a way for you to et your daughter-in-law..."

"Seriously, Mother? How?" Hannah’s eyes lit up.

Martha gestured for Hannah to co closer before whispering, "If you can’t convince Sawyer, you can approach Abigail. She’s very nice and sweet and won’t reject you if you ask her directly."

However, instead of feeling happy, Hannah’s shoulders slumped.

"I know, but Sawyer didn’t give Abigail’s phone number."

Martha laughed, clearly delighted, as she took out her cell phone.

"I have Abigail’s number. Please wait a minute; I’ll send it to you. You can text or call her. Just ask her to et you or ask her to persuade Sawyer. That brat, Sawyer, only listens to Abigail, so he won’t refuse if she asks him to et you..."

"Mother..." Hannah looked at her mother-in-law with sparkling eyes, indicating her excitent. "You are the best!"

Sawyer ets Thomas, his grandfather’s butler, before entering his study.

"Young Master, the old master is already waiting for you in his study," Thomas politely greeted Sawyer, following a step behind him.

"Why did Grandpa suddenly want to co?" Sawyer asked as he stopped before the door, glancing at Thomas. "Can you tell ? I need to prepare myself..."

His mind was filled with thoughts of Jas Philips; he suspected the old man might have pressured his grandfather.

"I’m sorry, Young Master. I don’t know either. But it seems important, and—" Thomas hesitated, unsure whether to continue.

"What is it, Thomas?" Sawyer’s frown deepened.

"You can see for yourself, Young Master," Thomas replied before knocking. He opened it when he heard Old Jones’s voice inviting him to enter.

Sawyer chuckled at Thomas’s silence, noticing how the butler lowered his head and gestured for him to go in. He tapped Thomas on the shoulder before stepping inside. Still, his movent froze when he saw the man sitting opposite his grandfather.

’Damn it! Why is he here?’ Sawyer cursed in his mind, realizing his worst fear had co true. His eyes trembled slightly as he stared at Jas Phillips, who was smiling at him from across the room.

"Sawyer, co, co join us. There’s sothing important that Jas wanted to ask you," Nathaniel said, noticing Sawyer lingering by the door. He could easily see that his grandson was annoyed.

"I apologize for asking you to co this early in the morning, Sawyer," Jas Phillips said as he stood from his seat, offering a weak smile. "But I need to ask you about sothing. And this is a very important thing. So, I hope you don’t mind asking this."

With a deep sigh, Sawyer approached them, choosing to sit on the couch farthest away. His expression clearly showed his displeasure at being in their company.

After Thomas closed the door behind him, Sawyer directed his gaze back at Jas Phillips. With a sharp tone, he said, "If you want to marry your granddaughter, you can stop right there. I will never do that. Abigail is the only woman I will marry; she is my wife!"

Having expressed his thoughts, Sawyer turned to his Grandpa. His expression remained the sa.

"Grandpa, if you support Grandpa Phillips in this, you will never et Abigail and again!"

Nathaniel was taken aback by Sawyer’s threat. He knew his grandson would stand firm in his decision.

Quickly, Nathaniel replied, "Sawyer, you are mistaken. We called you here not for that, but—" He paused, glancing at Jas. "Hurry up, Jas! Explain everything to my grandson..."

Sawyer frowned, confused. ’Is this not about my relationship with Serena?’ he wondered, locking his gaze on Jas Phillips.
