After leaving Jimmy Hendrick’s office, Abigail noticed the sun was about to rise on the horizon.

She walked with Brody toward the main entrance, passing a few police officers who seed to have returned from their night patrol.

Abigail glanced at Brody, curious to know how he found her. If she hadn’t calculated it wrong, he appeared five or seven minutes after she sent her text to Sawyer.

If Sawyer received her text and asked Brody to co, he might need around ten or fifteen minutes to arrive here, right? How could he co so fast?

"How did you find so fast in this place, Brody? I didn’t call or tell anyone I was here," Abigail asked casually, but Brody felt stressed hearing that. He tried to string together the right words to answer her, careful not to expose his boss’s identity as the hoowner.

Brody was not pleased that Sawyer wasn’t honest with Abigail about his identity as the ultimate hoowner of the place she rented. This situation prevented him from freely safeguarding her and made her needlessly suffer in the police office.

He felt he needed to remind his boss to stop hiding his identity. Abigail was intelligent, and she might find out sooner or later. Besides, he felt terrible about lying to her.

"Mr. Sawyer called and asked if you had arrived ho. When I said not yet, he started to worry that sothing might have happened to you because you also didn’t pick up his phone call or reply to his text..." Brody casually explained.

"I already imagined that he might call you..." Abigail rembered that Sawyer had exchanged phone numbers with Brody.

"Yes, I was near Crimson Leaf Cafe when he called . I imdiately headed to your cafe, but it was already closed. After that, I followed your walking path from the cafe to the house but didn’t see you. I told Mr. Sawyer about it."

Hearing Brody’s explanation made Abigail feel sorry for both Brody and Sawyer; she could imagine they must have been worried then.

"And how did you get to the police station so quickly?" she asked again.

Brody started worrying; Abigail might see through his lie.

"After two in the morning, you still hadn’t returned ho and hadn’t contacted Mr. Sawyer. So, I planned to report a missing person to the police..." He tried to appear calm as he answered.

Abigail felt warmth in her heart hearing how kind Brody was to her.

"But right after I parked my car, Mr. Sawyer texted , and at the sa ti, the lawyer he sent arrived. I rushed to find you, leaving the lawyer to check sothing with the police officer," Brody calmly explained, even though he wasn’t entirely honest with her.

...

What really happened was that he had been waiting in his car at his usual parking spot before Crimson Leaf Cafe closed. However, she never ca out, even though her friends had left the café one by one.

After waiting about thirty minutes without seeing Abigail, Brody began to suspect that she might have taken a back exit. Since he couldn’t spot her, he ntioned his concerns to Sawyer and decided to go ho to check on her.

When Brody arrived, nobody had seen Abigail enter the house, which made him increasingly anxious. He reviewed the CCTV footage to ease his worries and confird that she hadn’t returned yet.

Everyone, even the guard in the gate post, who knew Abigail’s identity as Sawyer’s girlfriend, began to panic, fearing that sothing might have happened to her. They knew Abigail never ca ho late and had no plans to visit her grandma in Orange Town.

They tried to keep an eye on her near her café, thinking she might be dining with friends at a restaurant, but they found nothing. They searched along Oracle Street and her usual walking route from the café to their ho but couldn’t locate her anywhere.

At around midnight, Sawyer called again, and Brody explained everything. Sawyer imdiately asked Ethan to check the CCTV footage near the café. Eventually, they discovered what had happened to Abigail.

A police car had arrived and arrested her. Soon after, a man in poor condition left the café. Still, instead of going to the police, he headed to a nearby hospital.

Brody was devastated to learn that Abigail was being held at the Oracle County Sheriff’s office and felt helpless since he couldn’t do anything to help her. He was overwheld with stress.

Brody knew he couldn’t rush to her rescue because Sawyer had not inford Abigail of his status as the hoowner.

He feared that she might beco confused and suspicious if he suddenly showed up to help her.

Brody and the others waited anxiously outside the police station, preparing themselves for the mont to enter.

When Ethan inford Brody that Abigail had texted Sawyer asking for help, Brody rushed to her rescue. At that mont, the lawyer, Rowan Sterling, arrived.

...

"That’s how I found you, Miss..." He smiled faintly when he noticed she wasn’t suspicious of him.

"Thank you so much, Brody. I’ll make sure to pay you back in the future for what you did today," Abigail said, glancing at him. "If you ever have any difficulties, please let know..."

She smiled weakly at Brody, feeling wholly drained despite having finished two chocolate bars and emptied a 500 ml water bottle.

"Miss Abigail, don’t worry about it. I did it because Mr. Sawyer asked to, and since you are a tenant in our house, I must ensure your safety." He awkwardly laughed, unsure of how to respond.

"Still, I appreciate you, Brody. This is almost five in—" Abigail couldn’t finish her sentence when she heard a familiar voice calling her from behind.

Abigail’s hand clenched in annoyance as she turned to see that person.

"Touch her; I will use violence to stop you!" Brody stepped forward to shield Abigail from the woman who suddenly appeared and tried to hold her hand.

"It’s fine, Brody..." Abigail imdiately stopped Brody, who looked like he wanted to beat Lana.
