Looking at how bright her eyes are now staring back at him, Sawyer knows this is not about the incident in front of her cafe.
Only watching a man force her, even touch her on the CCTV footage enough to boil Sawyer’s blood. He feels like sothing has set a fire in his heart.
It’s no surprise that Brody ntioned Abigail looked frightened when she got into his car.
Sawyer understood why she felt that way about the man. The clear CCTV footage showed just how lewd that man was towards her.
He feels mad now and wants to talk with her about it, but he can not casually ask her about it; she would be confused and ask him, "How did you know about it?"
Now, he could only hold himself. And try to plan how to protect her from people like her colleagues.
"What is it, Abby?" Sawyer asked. He smiles to maintain his calmness even though he is really struggling to suppress his anger.
"Sawyer, I decided to open my office sooner than planned..." Abigail said excitedly, her eyes gleaming as she looked back at him.
Sawyer was stunned to hear this. They had already discussed it a few days ago, and he had offered to invest in her future company, but she hadn’t taken his offer seriously.
"So, will you accept as an investor in your company?" Sawyer asked calmly. He didn’t want to pressure her because he worried she might refuse. If she did, it would make him sad. He genuinely wanted to help her.
"Yes, I agree," Abigail replied. She couldn’t refuse him because she needed the support. And he offers her professionally. "But, Sawyer, can we talk about it when you return? There are so many things I want to discuss."
Abigail felt incredibly grateful because Sawyer had opened her mind to starting her own company and was willing to invest in it. However, she didn’t want to make the sa mistake when she helped Ryland build Urbandgrid Innovation.
After investing her ti and effort into helping Ryland build the company, she never asked for any shares because she believed they would eventually marry.
Even now, she trusted Sawyer and knew he wouldn’t act shalessly like Ryland. Still, she needed to set boundaries. He would only be an investor; she had to retain ownership and ensure she held the majority share in the company.
"Sure, Abby. We will discuss it when I return," Sawyer responded enthusiastically. He had waited for this mont, creating an opportunity to help her.
"When are you coming back?" Abigail asked curiously. She didn’t understand why Sawyer had to fly to M Country suddenly. Still, whatever the reason was, it must have been essential for him to leave without explaining it to her.
As she looked at Sawyer’s face, she noticed a shift—it was tense, and his eyes seed gloomy. This concerned Abigail even more.
"Sawyer, I’m not in a hurry to set up my new company. Take your ti there. Please finish whatever business you have before returning. I will patiently wait for you," Abigail reassured him, sensing his reluctance to stay there.
A small smile appeared on Sawyer’s lips. He gradually began to feel better, and his anger toward his father started to fade as he realized how much Abigail cared for him.
"Hopefully, I can return tomorrow. But I can’t promise that..." Sawyer paused, struggling to find the right words to say to her to ease her worry.
"Sawyer, what is it? If you have a problem, please share it with . Maybe I may not be able to help you. Still, at least I’ll understand why you look so worried and sad," Abigail said sincerely, her eyes fixed on him, waiting for him to reveal his burden.
Sawyer took a deep breath and explained why he had to fly to Country M: He needed to take his father’s place, as he could not accompany his mother to a dical examination with a specialist known as a Divine Doctor, famous for never failing to treat his patients with the proper treatnt and dication.
His mother was fortunate enough to beco a patient of this Divine Doctor, so they could not postpone the appointnt due to the doctor’s busy schedule.
Abigail couldn’t hide her concern upon hearing this news. However, she remained quiet, allowing Sawyer to finish his thoughts.
Once Sawyer fell silent, she hurriedly expressed her worry.
"Oh my God, Sawyer, I’m so sorry to hear about your mother. I hope she recovers well and returns ho healthier..." Abigail said sincerely. Yet, inside, she felt a surge of pain as mories of her own mother’s death a few years ago resurfaced.
Her hand clenched tightly as she recalled the dark mories of her life. It was devastating when she needed help from her father for dical treatnt fees, but he refused to assist her.
She couldn’t bla her father for her mother’s death; that was simply her mother’s fate. However, she would never forget how Adam Snow turned his face away when she needed help. By the ti she finally secured the money to pay the hospital bills, it was too late—her mother couldn’t hold on any longer.
Eventually, her mother died, and she couldn’t get proper treatnt because the hospital wouldn’t proceed without upfront paynt. Her mother didn’t have health insurance at that ti since her father had stopped paying for it after their divorce.
From that day onward, their father-daughter relationship soured. And she lost all respect for him when, a few weeks ago, he refused to help her grandmother.
"Thank you, Abby. I know my mother will be delighted to hear her future daughter-in-law’s concerns about her health. And let’s hope she will cheer up again after her husband abandoned her and didn’t bother to try to co with her to this country..." Sawyer said, pulling Abigail from her thoughts.
Her eyes blinked in surprise as she struggled to find her voice. "Yeah. Let’s hope so. By the way, Sawyer, does that an you have told your mother about ?"
Instead of answering, he countered with a question, "What do you think?"
Abigail narrowed her eyes at him. "You did tell her, didn’t you!?"
