The silence in the car was comfortable as Mason and Sarah finally left Cartier. Sarah kept looking at the beautiful ring on her finger, watching it sparkle. She felt grateful and a little confused about everything that had happened.

"Mason," she said finally, "thank you for standing up for back there."

Mason kept his eyes outside the window. His voice was calm when he spoke. "I didn’t stand up for you."

Sarah looked at him in surprise.

"You already stood up for yourself," Mason said without looking at her. "You threw the money at her feet. You defended yourself with dignity. You didn’t need to save you."

Sarah felt sothing warm spread through her chest. She had stood up for herself.

"I did, didn’t I?" she said quietly.

Mason’s lips curved into a smirk. "Yes. You did."

They drove through the busy streets of Wuhan. Sarah watched the city pass by through the window. She was starting to understand that Mason saw strength in her that she sotis forgot she had.

"Where are we going now?" she asked.

"Photography studio," Mason said. "For the wedding photos."

Sarah nodded. She had almost forgotten about the photos. With everything that had happened, it felt like a lifeti ago that Grandma Liu had asked for them.

The car pulled up in front of a tall glass building. The building looked modern and sophisticated, with clean lines and floor-to-ceiling windows. A doorman in a perfect uniform rushed to open their car door.

"Mr. Liu," the doorman said with a deep bow. "Welco. Everything is ready for you on the twentieth floor."

They took a private elevator to the twentieth floor. The elevator was lined with mirrors and soft lighting. Sarah could see multiple reflections of herself and Mason standing side by side.

When the doors opened, they stepped into a beautiful photography studio. The space was huge, with white walls and professional lighting equipnt everywhere. There were different sets arranged around the room - one that looked like a garden, another that looked like a library, and a third that looked like a fancy living room.

"Mr. Liu!" A tall man with blond hair and blue eyes walked toward them. He had an Arican accent and a big smile. "I’m David Parker, your photographer. I flew in from New York just for this shoot." Of course, everyone recognized Mason.

Mason shook his hand. "David. Thank you for coming on such short notice."

"Are you kidding?" David laughed. "When you call, I drop everything. This is going to be amazing."

Sarah smiled politely. She was used to working with photographers, but she had never had one flown in from another country.

"And you must be the beautiful bride," David said, turning to Sarah. "I’m so excited to work with you."

"Thank you," Sarah said in perfect English. "I’m Sarah. It’s nice to et you."

David’s eyebrows went up in surprise. "Wow, your English is fantastic. Most of my clients here need a translator."

"I’ve been to the US lots of tis and I had to take lessons there too." Sarah explained. "I also perford there several tis."

"Perford?" David asked with interest.

"I’m a singer," Sarah said. "Or I was. I used to do concerts."

"That’s incredible!" David said. "I love working with perforrs. You know how to work with caras."

Mason listened to their conversation with interest. He seed pleased that Sarah was comfortable speaking English.

"Let introduce you to my team," David said. "This is Henri."

A man with dark hair and stylish clothes stepped forward. He was clearly French, with that effortless elegance that French n seed to have.

"Bonjour," Henri said with a warm smile. "I am Henri Dubois. I do the styling and creative direction."

"Bonjour, Henri," Mason replied in perfect French. Then Mason spoke French.

Sarah’s eyes widened in surprise. Mason spoke French fluently, without any trace of an accent. His pronunciation was perfect.

Henri’s face lit up with delight. Then he replied.

They continued talking in French for a few minutes. Sarah watched Mason’s face as he spoke. He looked completely natural, as if French was his first language.

"How many languages do you speak?" Sarah asked when they finished their conversation.

Mason looked at her with amusent. "A few. What about you?"

"Three," Sarah said. "Chinese, English, and so French. I only visited Paris once, but I loved it."

"And the US?" Mason asked.

"I’ve been there several tis for concerts," Sarah said. "I love performing for Arican audiences."

She felt a pang of sadness thinking about her performing days. She missed the stage more than she had expected.

"You’ll perform again," Mason said quietly, as if he could read her thoughts.

Before Sarah could respond, they heard the sound of high heels clicking on the floor. A woman walked into the studio, and Sarah imdiately noticed her outfit. She was wearing a short, tight dress that showed a lot of skin. Her makeup was perfect, and her hair was styled in loose waves.

"Sorry I’m late!" the woman called out in English. "Traffic was crazy."

David’s face softened when he saw her. "Everyone, this is Jessica, my girlfriend. She’s also my assistant."

Jessica walked over and kissed David on the cheek. "Hi, baby. Did I miss anything important?"

"Just introductions," David said. "This is Mr. Liu and his wife Sarah."

Jessica smiled at them. "Nice to et you both. I love your dress, Sarah. Very elegant."

Sarah thanked her, but she couldn’t help staring at Jessica’s outfit. The dress was so short and tight that it left very little to the imagination. But Sarah couldn’t judge her for it. She had worn similar outfits during her concerts. Sotis the stage required bold fashion choices.

Looking at Jessica’s confident style made Sarah miss the spotlight even more. She rembered the feeling of being on stage, wearing glamorous outfits, and commanding the attention of thousands of people. She couldn’t wait to get back to that world.

"So," David said, clapping his hands together, "let’s talk about what we’re going to do today. I understand you want so elegant wedding photos?"

"Yes," Mason said. "Sothing classic but modern. Nothing too formal."

"Perfect," David said. "Henri has prepared so amazing concepts. We can start with the garden set, then move to the library, and finish with sothing more dramatic."

Henri nodded enthusiastically. "I have selected so beautiful outfits for both of you. Sarah, I think you will love what I have chosen."

Sarah felt excited. She loved fashion and had always enjoyed photo shoots during her singing career.

"Before we start," David said, "I need to set up a few more lights. Why don’t you two look around the studio? Jessica can show you the different sets."

Jessica smiled and gestured toward the garden set. "Co on, I’ll give you the tour."

They walked around the studio, looking at all the different backgrounds and props. Sarah was impressed by how professional everything looked. This was clearly a high-end operation.

"Your husband must be very successful," Jessica said quietly to Sarah. "David told he’s one of the most important n in China."

Sarah nodded. She was still learning about the extent of Mason’s power and influence.

"He seems very protective of you," Jessica observed. "The way he looks at you... it’s like you’re the most precious thing in the world."

Sarah felt her cheeks warm. "We’re still getting to know each other."

"Arranged marriage?" Jessica asked.

"Sothing like that," Sarah said. Telling a stranger about her contractual marriage was the last thing she would ever do.

"Well, arranged or not, he’s crazy about you," Jessica said with a smile. "I can tell."

They continued looking around the studio. Sarah was starting to feel excited about the photo shoot. It had been a long ti since she had been in front of professional caras.

"Sarah," Mason called from across the room. "Co here for a mont."

She walked over to where Mason was standing with David and Henri. They were looking at so sample photos on a large computer screen.

"We want to show you so style options," David said. "Henri has so ideas for the looks we’ll create."

Henri pulled up several reference images. "I want to create sothing tiless but with a modern edge. Classic elegance with a touch of drama."

The images were beautiful. Sarah could see herself and Mason in photos like these.

"I love it," she said. "When do we start?"

"We just need to wait for the makeup artist," David said. "She should be here any minute."

"Actually," Henri said, "I think Sarah’s natural beauty would work perfectly with minimal makeup. Very fresh and elegant."

Sarah felt flattered. She had always been told she had a natural beauty that didn’t need much enhancent.

As they continued discussing the photo shoot, Sarah felt her phone buzz in her purse. She pulled it out and saw a ssage notification.

Her heart stopped when she saw the na on the screen: Antonio.

She stared at the phone, her hand shaking slightly. She hadn’t heard from Antonio since the Diamond Issue. What could he want now?

She wouldn’t give any money to them for anything.

"Sarah?" Mason’s voice seed to co from far away. "Is everything alright?"

She looked up at him, the phone still in her hand. "I... I just got a ssage."

Mason noticed her expression and stepped closer. "From whom?"

Sarah looked back at the phone, then at Mason. "Antonio."

The na hung in the air between them like a dark cloud. Sarah could feel Mason’s energy change, even though his expression remained calm.

"What does it say?" Mason asked quietly.

Sarah looked at the phone again, her finger hovering over the ssage. She was afraid to open it.

"I don’t know," she said softly. "I haven’t opened it yet."

Mason’s eyes never left her face. "Do you want to?"

Sarah stared at the phone, her heart racing. Part of her wanted to delete the ssage without reading it. But another part of her was curious about what her forr manager had to say.

"Sarah?" Mason said again, his voice gentle but firm.

She looked up at him, then back at the phone.

"Yes." She finally replied and tapped the ssage.
