The call was disconnected.

In that instant.

A flicker of unease ignited in Cole Kane’s chest, his heart racing with anger at the man’s voice on the phone just now.

’Is that the new man Nina Thorne found?’

But soon enough, Cole Kane let out a cold, disdainful snort.

’To think she’d stoop to such tricks just to punish .’

’She’s as spoiled and willful as ever, trying to drive Serena away by any ans necessary!’

...

「anwhile, at the villa.」

"He hung up." Justin Kane handed the phone to Nina Thorne, his dark eyes studying her face. "Are you going to bla for taking matters into my own hands?"

Nina Thorne shook her head. "No."

The coldness in Justin Kane’s eyes softened, and the corners of his lips curled into a barely perceptible smile. "Mm, you’ve grown up."

He raised a hand and ruffled her hair.

Nina Thorne lowered her gaze slightly, then slowly looked up at him.

Her eyes t a pair of dark, smiling ones—no longer the cold, indifferent eyes of the past.

’He’s more like a big brother now, full of affection for .’

Nina Thorne’s heart skipped a beat.

’Maybe he feels sorry for the way Cole Kane hurt . This could be his way of showing pity, of making it up to .’

But she still couldn’t understand why Justin Kane chose to marry her, even with the reason he had already given.

Nina Thorne collected her thoughts and said softly, "Kane, there’s sothing I need your help with."

’Cole Kane must have gone to my place looking for . I don’t want any more contact with him.’

Justin Kane’s brow furrowed almost imperceptibly. "What did you call ?"

Nina Thorne paused for a few seconds before tentatively correcting herself. "Justin?"

Her voice was soft, her eyes holding a hint of uncertain questioning. She looked like a timid kitten.

Justin Kane didn’t have the heart to press her further. His brow relaxed. "Go on. What is it?"

Nina Thorne secretly breathed a sigh of relief. "I want to sell my apartnt. Can you help handle it?"

"Of course." A strange glint flashed in Justin Kane’s eyes. "I’ll have Ben Cheney take care of it."

Nina Thorne’s lips curved into a smile. "Thank you."

The light from the ceiling enveloped her, making her features appear soft and sweet.

Her fair skin seed to glow under the light. Her smile was so bright that a single glance was enough to dispel anyone’s frustrations.

Justin Kane’s gaze intensified.

But Nina Thorne had already walked out of the bedroom, oblivious to his unusually scorching stare.

Justin Kane worked fast.

Within a few days, he had already found a buyer and sold the apartnt for her.

Nina Thorne needed to pack up so important belongings, so Justin Kane drove her there himself.

Just as they got out of the car, Justin Kane received a call.

After listening, Justin Kane grunted in acknowledgnt, his sharp brows knitting together. "Got it."

His long fingers gripped the phone as he ended the call.

"Sothing’s co up." Justin Kane’s gentle gaze fell on Nina Thorne’s face. "I need to take care of it. Will you be okay going up by yourself?"

Nina Thorne nodded. "Yeah, of course. You should go. It’ll take a while to pack."

"Are you sure you’ll be okay on your own?" Justin Kane looked unconvinced.

"I’m not a child. I’ll be fine, really. Go on," Nina Thorne said with a laugh, standing up straight like a well-behaved student.

’The Justin Kane before now is so considerate and gentle. He’s like a completely different person from the one who used to target and never gave the ti of day.’

Justin Kane humd in response. He squinted his narrow eyes at her, his lips forming a handso line as he spoke with blunt words, "You’re not a child. You’re just easier to fool than one."

"..."

Nina Thorne was speechless.

Justin Kane got back in the car and left. Nina Thorne returned to the apartnt she hadn’t set foot in for half a month.

BEEP. The fingerprint lock sounded as Nina Thorne pushed open the door. A security guard called out to her, "Miss Thorne."

Nina Thorne stopped and turned to look.

The guard approached with a smile. "Miss Thorne, you’re finally back. Soone’s been coming around looking for you these past two days. He’s well-dressed and doesn’t look like a bad guy, but he pounds on the door so loud that other residents have started to complain."

From the guard’s description, Nina Thorne thought of one person.

Cole Kane.

’He hardly ever ca here, so it’s normal the guard wouldn’t recognize him.’

In the past, Nina Thorne had always been the one clinging to him.

For three years, she was almost always the one to seek him out.

Even if she was at ho, the mont he drank too much, she would rush to his place to make him hangover soup.

Whenever they argued, all it took was a few half-hearted words of coaxing from Cole Kane, and her anger would vanish completely.

At his slightest request, she would wake up an hour early just to call and coax him out of bed.

Cole Kane’s friends all laughed at her, calling her a clingy octopus, a piece of sticky candy that was hard to shake off.

In private, the more vicious ones mocked her for being a total lapdog.

Without exception, they all thought Nina Thorne couldn’t live without Cole Kane.

And they were right.

For the past five years, Nina Thorne truly couldn’t leave Cole Kane.

"Okay, I understand." Nina Thorne bowed her head apologetically. "I’ve already sold the apartnt. If this person shows up again, you can just tell him to leave."

Seeing how pretty and reasonable she was, the guard quickly said it was no problem and even told Nina Thorne to call them if she needed help moving.

Nina Thorne politely thanked him and went inside the apartnt to start packing.

The walk-in closet was filled with designer bags and clothes from Cole Kane.

Nina Thorne packed them all up, scheduled a courier pickup, and had them sent to Cole Kane’s house.

After looking around, she realized the only things that were truly hers and still useful were so clothes, the desktop computer in her workroom, and a dozen or so keyboards.

And an entire wall-to-wall bookcase of books and novels.

Nina Thorne packed everything carefully. When she checked the ti, she saw that two hours had already passed.

’It’s been that long?’

Just as she was dialing Justin Kane’s number, the doorbell suddenly rang.

She assud it was Justin Kane, so she walked to the door and opened it while still on the phone.

"What a coincidence, I just finished..."

The door opened, and Nina Thorne’s voice died in her throat as she saw the person outside. Her expression instantly turned cold.

"What are you doing here?"

She lowered the phone from her ear and blindly ended the call.

Cole Kane stood before her, his face dark. "After making a scene for half a month, blocking my calls and my WeChat, you finally decide to show your face?"

Nina Thorne frowned. "This is my ho. I don’t recall sending you a special invitation to watch appear, did I?"

Impatient anger burned in Cole Kane’s eyes. "Nina Thorne, there’s a limit to how much of a scene you can make. Don’t take it too far!"

「anwhile, in a conference room at the Kane Group headquarters.」

A minute ago, when Justin Kane saw Nina Thorne’s call coming in, the corners of his mouth had unconsciously lifted into a smile.

But when he heard Cole Kane’s shaless words, one by one, his expression instantly darkened, a savage look rising in his black eyes.

Justin Kane shot to his feet. His tall, slender figure moved quickly, leaving the Kane Group and getting into his car.

"Find the Madam, now."

...

Cole Kane ground his back teeth. "Why do you have to have it in for Serena so much? She’s your sister, and after we get married, she’ll still be your sister!"

Nina Thorne’s expression was icy. "I don’t have such a shaless sister. Since you love her and dote on her so much, why don’t you just switch places? Marry her. Turn your ’sister’ into your wife. You’re not blood-related, anyway. There’s nothing stopping you."

"Nina Thorne!" Cole Kane’s face was as black as ink, his teeth clenched in a snarl.

"Do you have to be so caustic? Can’t you be sensible for once, like Serena? You’ve already forced her to stay away from ho for three years. Are you going to stop only when you’ve driven her to her death?"
