The next morning, the doctor ca to do his rounds.

With red, swollen eyes, Nina Thorne asked the doctor, "How long until my grandfather wakes up?"

Her voice was hoarse and raspy, as if it had been scraped with sand.

The doctor said grimly, "The patient is in a coma, but all his vitals are stable. It’s really hard to say when he’ll wake up."

"It could be three days, a month... or even years..."

The doctor’s words made Nina Thorne feel dizzy. She clenched her fists and pleaded, "No matter what, please, you have to make my grandfather wake up."

The doctor frowned, looking troubled, and sighed. "Please don’t worry, Miss Thorne. We will do everything we can."

After the doctor left, Nina Thorne stood by the hospital bed.

Looking at Master Thorne on the respirator and thinking about everything that had happened over the past few months, it seed she had made so kind of decision.

Her red, swollen eyes now held a clear, resolute light.

Nina Thorne arranged for soone to watch over her grandfather, then left the hospital and took a taxi back to the villa.

She was still wearing last night’s evening gown.

Her makeup was ruined by tears, her eyelids smudged black with eyeliner. She looked wretched and pitiful.

Her appearance startled Miss King the mont she walked into the main hall.

"Mrs. Kane, what happened to you?"

Miss King didn’t know what had happened last night. She had only seen on the news that from the Kane family, the second young master and the third young miss had both been taken to the police station.

Mr. Kane and Mrs. Kane hadn’t co back all night.

She felt it might be related to that incident.

Over the course of that one night, it seed as if sothing had quietly changed.

The whole of Sylport was shrouded in public speculation.

"I’m fine."

Nina Thorne lowered her gaze and replied nonchalantly before heading straight for the second-floor bedroom.

She washed up and changed into clean clothes.

Her clean face looked fair and bright, which only made her eyes seem even more red, swollen, and utterly exhausted.

Without a mont’s delay, she took out a suitcase and went to the walk-in closet to pack her clothes.

She hadn’t brought much with her when she arrived—just clothes, so keyboards, and books.

Downstairs, Miss King had a vague feeling that sothing was wrong with her emotionally.

Seeing how haggard she looked, as if she had been through a major ordeal, she called Justin Kane.

Justin Kane finally rushed back. "Where is my wife?"

Miss King was startled to see him too.

The president, who was usually impeccably dressed and carried an air of refined dignity, was now in black trousers and a shirt with the top buttons undone. His hair was a ss, and his face was also drawn and haggard.

But thanks to his outstanding bone structure, his face was still authoritatively handso.

Miss King pointed upstairs uneasily. "Mrs. Kane seems very upset. Mr. Kane, you should go check on her quickly."

Justin Kane nodded and strode quickly up the stairs.

Nina Thorne had already finished packing.

She took the box containing the bracelet from the safe and placed it on the dresser as well, lining it up with the watch and the ring.

Justin Kane hurriedly pushed the door open and saw Nina Thorne with her back to the entrance, standing in front of the vanity.

"Nina Thorne."

Justin Kane’s throat tightened. He stood frozen in place.

Hearing the sound, Nina Thorne slowly turned to face him. "Your timing is perfect."

Justin Kane’s heart trembled, and his eyes darted around the room.

Sure enough, he saw her packed suitcase and the items on the dresser.

’She’s always like this,’ he thought, ’so decisive in her actions.’

Justin Kane’s gaze was frantic. His thin lips moved, and after a long mont, he managed to force a smile. "Are you going on location for another shoot?"

"How long will you be gone this ti?"

He tugged at his lips, his gaze restless as if he didn’t know where to look, before it landed back on Nina Thorne.

His eyes were frantic, and he seed at a complete loss. The darkness in their depths was tinged with an obvious, restrained anxiety.

"Let’s get a divorce."

Nina Thorne turned to face him fully, her expression cool and distant as she lifted her gaze to his.

Justin Kane’s brow furrowed, and his Adam’s apple bobbed. "It hasn’t co to that."

Nina Thorne ignored him and picked up the brocade box with the bracelet. "This is from Mr. Kane. I’m returning it to you now."

She placed it back on the table, a bleak finality in her eyes. She looked down and said, "I’ve only packed my own things. I won’t touch anything else."

’That watch he was going to give to his beloved...’

’And the diamond ring that didn’t belong to her.’

’She didn’t want any of it anymore.’

Nina Thorne grabbed the handle of her suitcase, ready to leave.

Justin Kane stepped forward and grabbed her wrist. "Are you going to abandon and leave?"

The strong sll of smoke assaulted Nina Thorne’s nose, causing her to react strongly. She shoved Justin Kane away and took several steps back.

"Don’t co near ."

Nina Thorne’s movents were resistant, as if she was repulsed by him.

"Mr. Kane, you’re the one who made his choice last night. How did this beco about abandoning you?"

"Nina Thorne, it was my fault for not making our relationship public last night, but please, don’t talk about divorce, okay?"

Justin Kane reached out to take her hand, but she coldly avoided his touch.

He patiently coaxed her in a low, hoarse voice, "In a marriage, the biggest taboo is bringing up divorce at the drop of a hat. If you say it enough, it’ll co true."

Nina Thorne found it laughable. As she laughed, her eyes reddened and welled up with tears.

"Justin Kane, are you and your brother toying with on purpose?"

"You were the one who said we’d go public. You told to trust you. And what was the result?"

Trembling with rage, Nina Thorne’s lips quivered, her eyes cold and disappointed. "Since you’ve already made your choice, I’m simply respecting it. From now on, let’s not see each other again."

"Everything you gave is over there. I’m returning it all to its rightful owner."

Nina Thorne grabbed her suitcase and started to walk away.

She had only taken a few steps when her arm was suddenly grabbed, and a watch was pressed into her palm.

"I gave it to you, so it’s yours."

Justin Kane still held the ring in his other hand, trying to put it on her finger.

Nina Thorne found it both ironic and ridiculous.

She glanced at the watch in her hand and let out a self-deprecating laugh. "For ? Justin Kane, this is the gift you failed to give your beloved five years ago."

"And I’m just a latecor, receiving sothing that was never ant for in the first place."

Justin Kane’s eyes were dark and restrained. He said in a raspy voice, "How do you know this gift wasn’t prepared for you long ago?"

"For ? Do you think I’d believe that? You think I wouldn’t know this was ant for your beloved?"

Nina Thorne tilted her head up to look at him, her expression colder than ever before.

Even the look in her eyes no longer held its previous joyful brightness.

Justin Kane’s Adam’s apple bobbed, and the words tumbled out, "Nina Thorne, I bought this gift five years ago to give to you."

"You are my beloved. Do you understand what I’m saying?"

His voice was deep and powerful, each word drilling into Nina Thorne’s ears and leaving her stunned.

’What did he say?’

’He said his beloved... was her?’

Justin Kane gripped her shoulders, his dark eyes brimming with suppressed emotion. "Give a little more ti. Let handle a few things, okay?"

Nina Thorne stared at him, stunned for a mont, and her heart clenched violently.

But she didn’t feel a shred of happiness at his words. On the contrary, she only found it laughable.

"If I were your beloved, you wouldn’t have kept it a secret this whole ti, and you certainly wouldn’t have disappointed ti and ti again."

Nina Thorne held up the watch, her eyes red and moist, her voice choked and hoarse. "Justin Kane, I’m tired. I don’t believe a single word you’re saying right now."

With that, she forcefully threw the watch down, pushed him away, and resolutely strode out.

The watch hit the ground, its case shattering into a spiderweb of cracks.

Justin Kane’s heart suddenly seized. He called out to her in shock, "Nina Thorne."

But she left resolutely, without a single glance back.

She was gone.

Justin Kane looked down at the broken watch, his eyes dark and gloomy, tinged with a sinister red.

His throat tightened, and after a long mont, a laugh escaped him—a laugh full of helplessness and restraint.

It was a long ti before he bent down to pick up the watch.

Veins bulged on the back of his hand as his fingers gripped the shattered face, shards of glass piercing his skin. Blood instantly flowed out, dripping onto the floor.

Justin Kane’s handso face was so red it looked like it was bleeding. He struggled to restrain his emotions, veins clearly visible popping out on his neck...

Nina Thorne hailed a taxi and left with her suitcase.

On the way, Macy Lynch called. "Nina Thorne, I heard about what happened last night. Where are you? I’ll co find you."

Macy Lynch had been out of town for a shoot the last two days and couldn’t make it back for the birthday banquet last night.

She had even bought her a gift to make up for it.

She never expected to hear such explosive news the mont she got off the plane.

Nina Thorne had been holding back her emotions for so long, but the mont she heard Macy Lynch’s voice, her composure nearly shattered.

She tilted her head back, forcing her tears back.

After a long silence, she finally answered, "That’s perfect, I have nowhere else to go. I’ll head to your place for now."

"Okay."

After they agreed, they hung up and headed straight for their destination.

「An hour later, they t at the door of Macy Lynch’s apartnt.」

They arrived at almost the sa ti.

Nina Thorne stood outside her door, watching as Macy Lynch stepped out of the elevator, walked quickly toward her, and gave her a huge hug.

"Honey, you’ve been wronged, haven’t you? Let hug you..."

Macy Lynch choked up, hugging her tightly.

"I’m so sorry. Sothing this huge happened, and I wasn’t even there for you."

Nina Thorne’s eyes were already red and swollen. Now, her nose stung, and she felt like crying again.

She forced her tears back and patted Macy Lynch’s back. "Alright, let’s go inside first and then talk."

As if just rembering, Macy Lynch quickly let her go, unlocked the door, and took her suitcase to bring inside.

"Just make yourself at ho here. Stay as long as you want. And don’t you worry about that pair of bastard brothers from the Kane family."

Macy Lynch was furious. She couldn’t believe Justin Kane would actually treat Nina Thorne like this.

He promised to go public, but then suddenly issued a clarification denying it.

It was just too cruel.

Nina Thorne walked over to the sofa and sat down, rubbing the bridge of her nose. She looked utterly exhausted.

Macy Lynch imdiately stopped cursing and brought her a glass of warm water. "You definitely didn’t sleep well. Drink so water and get so proper rest. I’ll go with you to see your grandfather later."

Nina Thorne nodded, looking haggard and weak.

She really was tired, too tired to even have the energy to curse anyone out.

This ti, she fell into a deep sleep.

But she had forgotten to silence her phone, and not long after falling asleep, she was woken by its ringing.

She picked up her phone and glanced at it. The call was from Felicia Yates.

She didn’t need to guess to know it was about Cole Kane and Serena Kane at the police station.

The internet was now flooded with those obscene videos, which couldn’t be deleted no matter what. Of course Felicia Yates was anxious.

Nina Thorne expressionlessly silenced her phone, tossed it aside, and went back to sleep.

Felicia Yates was at her wits’ end and rushed to the corporate group to find Justin Kane.

She practically shoved the door to the president’s office open violently.

She stord up to the desk, her furious gaze fixed on Justin Kane. "Cole Kane is your brother! Are you really going to indulge that woman and let her keep posting those things to slander your brother and sister?"

Besides the videos, they were also being held at the police station without bail, accused of cris like hiring a hitman and drugging soone.

They could be prosecuted at any mont.

The pressure around Justin Kane was heavy, and a ghostly, cold light glinted in his eyes.

"They should have expected this day would co when they chose to work with April Graham to go after Nina Thorne."

Justin Kane slamd his large hand on the desk with a loud BANG.

Felicia Yates shuddered in fear.

Justin Kane’s tall fra rose. There were dark circles under his eyes, and his expression was sinister and oppressive.

He ground his back teeth and said cold-bloodedly, "Nina Thorne can do whatever she wants. Mother, you know full well what you’ve done to her. If you cause any more trouble, I don’t mind sending you on your way on her behalf."
