Chapter 338: Chapter 64 Finale: The Death of the dicine Buddha (Part 3) Chapter 338: Chapter 64 Finale: The Death of the dicine Buddha (Part 3) The golden flas and billowing smoke poured out into the hallway. Li Yan stepped out from the spreading black smoke, exposing himself to the surveillance.

“He’s here!”

The female soldier, her eyes glued to the screen, shouted as she furiously typed on the keyboard. Gun muzzles popped out from every hidden corner of the passage, frantically firing at Li Yan as he nonchalantly walked by.

The sound of gunfire echoed throughout the floor, with yellow brass casings popping like popcorn nonstop. But other than leaving unsightly bullet holes in the walls and ceiling, they achieved nothing.

Suddenly, the screen was filled with the sharpened blade of a sword, its cold patterns countable, then with a loud bang, shattered to bits, leaving only the hiss of static on the screen.

Harsh radio noises rang out one after another. Any surveillance cara that caught a glimpse of Li Yan’s shadow would lose its signal the next second. In just a few minutes, more than half of the nearly hundred tactical screens on the wall had turned to static.

The female soldier, sowhat at a loss, took off her headphones and looked at Qiao Xing for guidance.

With his arms crossed, Qiao Xing picked up a communicator, cleared his throat, and spoke to the other side, “Inside the base building, a level two target from the cleansing plan has broken free and is attempting to move towards the combat departnt. Please intercept at all costs.”

Static filled the communicator before a solemn male voice ca through, “Understood.”

After destroying the surrounding surveillance caras, Li Yan stood still for a mont, then, having taken just a few steps, turned a corner to co face-to-face with a squad of fully ard Black Star soldiers. The mont they saw him, they raised their gun muzzles without hesitation.

“Bang!”

Disordered footsteps converged from all directions, with chaotic radio signals, shouts, the dull sound of cutting, and the clatter of falling bullet casings intermingled.

“Target spotted in Block C.”

“He’s trying to break out of this building.”

“One squad to intercept, backup is on the way, Squad One?”

“Da da da da da da!”

The communication channel’s exchanges finally ended with a burst of rapid, violent gunfire.

Scalding hot flecks of paint plastered the walls, and under the cold lights, Li Yan tossed away his emptied submachine gun. The black and red fresh blood spread underfoot in a relentless advance, and he reached out to remove the earpiece from the pale-faced corpse’s face, his eyes bloodshot: “Squad One can’t hold him anymore.”

Having said that, he threw away the earpiece, rushed to the corner of the hallway, and shouldered his way through the double windows, one man tall, leaping out like a black falcon streaking across the sky.

His gaze crossed countless dark red brick walls and black mountains, his muscular, distinct five fingers slamming onto an iron window. The iron fra distorted and cracked under the force, swinging his body, hooking his feet onto the window ledge, and slipping through the window to land softly on the ground.

However, before Li Yan could stand up straight, a blinding white light suddenly filled his field of vision, and even with closed eyelids, that pervasive brightness caused a sharp pain in Li Yan’s head.

Blinded, Li Yan’s calves suddenly exploded with power, moving him a step sideways. The force traveled from his thighs to his wrists, and the Azure Phoenix Sword swung upwards with the montum, still unable to block the bone-chilling pain in his chest.

When a large number of elite Black Star soldiers from various standby positions arrived at the last known location of Li Yan in Block C corridor, as communicated, everyone was confounded by the scene before them.

Sticky blood dripped drop by drop from the ceiling, scattered limbs and severed arms lay in pools of blood, with communication earpieces soaking in the bloody water.

At least a dozen soldiers, who on average were physically enhanced to a second-order comprehensive level and equipped with advanced combat gear, were killed cleanly by one person within just a few seconds in communication, without even a chance to let out a cry of agony.

“Don’t chase after him, lives aren’t to be wasted like this.”

In the public communication channel, a stranger’s voice chid in.

“Who are you?”

The leader of these soldiers pinched the microphone by his cheek.

“Colonel Qiao sent us, my na is Mo Sui, from the special operations forces. Just have your people cover us and provide information support, that’s all…”

Halfway through speaking, Mo Sui paused for a mont before continuing, “Just like that.”

After finishing, he exited the communication channel.

After hanging up the call, the man nad Mo Sui turned to the few team mbers standing silently beside him and said, “Xiao Ye has caught him, at the Power Building. Quick in and out, let’s not make too much noise.”

Most of the operatives directly under the command of the Supre Committee had enhanced “Psychic Mover” abilities and carried weaponry equivalent to a dium-sized arsenal. Flattening an entire building was an easy task for them, but that’s only necessary for deep strikes into enemy territory during combat operations. Such an over-the-top approach was amateurish for a private job aid at eliminating a single target.

The four operatives’ actions were indisputably swift, exhibiting their agility and ferocity to the fullest. The Danzuo Automobile complex was built in clusters on steep mountainsides, and moving between them required navigating rugged staircases. It would take an experienced adult climber at least two hours to reach the Power Building from here, but the twelve operatives took only about five minutes. With almost no ti difference between them, they simultaneously arrived at the first floor of the Power Building reported by Xiao Ye.

The surroundings were much quieter than they had anticipated, and the thick sll of blood in the air was unsettling.

Passing the wall, the first thing that entered Mo Sui’s field of vision was a team mber sitting on the ground with his head down, back leaning against a weighing pillar.

There weren’t many wounds on his body, but his helt had vanished into thin air, his temple turned into a swollen bloody hole. With just one glance, the battle-hardened Mo Sui could imagine him being struck in the head by a heavy blunt object during close combat, and instantly killed.

“Xiao Ye~”

He bellowed, and the loud echo spread, but there was no response for a long ti.

The corpses of the other two team mbers were also found one after another, each killed by a fatal wound inflicted by a blade. The enemy had even calmly used the equipnt from the dead operatives to place a pressure-sensitive bomb underneath their bodies, but it was promptly found and defused by a tal detector, avoiding further casualties.

All of a sudden, Mo Sui slid to the doorway of the Power Building, and the assault rifle in his hand roared, firing large-caliber bullets that clamored to shoot through tal bars, creating more than a dozen large holes in the swinging door and shattering the body of a teammate that was thrown at it.

Through the gaps of the bullet holes, Li Yan was seen for a fleeting mont, his sword dripping with blood.

Ye Ying and the other three team mbers silently rushed out of the window in pursuit.

In the main hall, soone corrected the face of the body that was thrown into the building, revealing the visage with a bloody hole on its forehead—it was the Black Star soldier with the codena “Xiao Ye”, who had just undergone enhancent to beco a fourth-tier soldier three months ago.

In the special operations group, those with unique codenas had all independently participated in more than twenty major combat operations. The investnt Black Star had poured into these people was no less than that of a new-model bomber. In actual combat situations, they often demonstrated combat value far surpassing that of fighter jets.

Today, this young and nimble bomber had died pitifully in a dark and cold hall in a foreign place, without even firing a single shell.

The reason Qiao Xing had requested twelve operatives at once was to completely suppress Li Yan in one fell swoop, leaving no ti for him to react, much less to take others down with him.

However, this plan had evidently failed from the start. The death of a fourth-tier ability user was not sothing that could be easily dismissed with a simple favor, not even for soone with the last na Qiao.

“How did he manage that?”

Mo Sui asked i Hu, his face looking ugly.

i Hu was a young woman with a lon-seed face, currently pulling out an electrically charged tal probe from the back of a corpse’s head.

“Of the three deceased, two suffered impacts to the frontal lobes, while another soldier experienced swelling and deformation in his cerebral cortex and amygdala. This was the primary reason they were killed off so easily during combat. This outsider must possess abilities similar to ntal Shock.”

Mo Sui’s expression eased a bit, as fear often stems from the unknown. Knowing the cause of Xiao Ye’s death brought him so peace. Although ntal Shock was rare, Black Star did not lack contingency plans for it.

“ntal Shock? Then Ye Ying chasing after him is definitely the right decision.”
