He showed Loki using those artifacts to create a wand. And through the wand he opens a wormhole, from there the Zerg invasion begins.
As a result, the Argos Family ca to believe, "Elena Stark caused Damon’s death."
That belief directly ignited the war between the Argos Family, the Guardians, and the Forsaken.
