Sharky looked back at him and remarked, "The two of you are quite coordinated; that did not look like the first ti." He continued, "Uncle Ming seems to know the Shadow Group’s assassination thods. Is he from the Shadow Group?"
What exactly was going on with that mysterious organization? Why did it keep showing up? What was the Shadow Group’s purpose anyway? Why did they keep appearing around him?
Just the clues he had been exposed to so far were enough to make him feel apprehensive.
...
Christ snapped out of his daze. He asked, "How did you kill him?"
Although he knew Duke Cedric was Master Level Cultivator, still, this was so much instant.
It was so much that he was not even able to respond to it.
Sharky didn’t answer the question, instead asked, "Who are you? Why did you kill my brother?"
But before he got the answer, he suddenly exclaid, "Be careful!" He grabbed Alina’s waist and dropped to the ground as soon as he spoke.
Alina’s entire body went taut. She quickly took out her magic weapon ’World Painting’ to protect her.
Sure enough, a dark shadow appeared where the two of them had been. Soone holding a long, narrow sword slowly appeared from the shadows.
"A dark elf!" Sharky blurted out. He had encountered those natural-born assassins back in King Leon Manor. Their ability to move through shadows had left him with a deep impression.
"Shadow Group?" Alina exclaid.
"Madam Alina’s knowledge is admirable, as expected," a voice called out with a laugh. "Many dark elves have been turned into assassins by the Shadow Group, but not all dark elves belong to the Shadow Group."
Sharky and Alina followed the source of the sound. Several people slowly erged from the entrance.
The middle-aged man in the lead wore a feathered crest; his body was draped in a green cloak that glittered with multicolored light under the reflective ice walls. He was riding on a giant gray wolf.
The wolf’s killing intent and the sharpness of its fangs were obvious even from far away. It released a suppressed growl, and wisps of smoke erged from its mouth.
"Gray Wolf King!" Sharky exclaid.
He was no stranger to those beasts. He had fought against a pack of such wolves during the crown prince’s exam, so he had a deep impression of them. Even though the Gray Wolf King wasn’t small at all, it couldn’t compare to the ones he had t before. However, its aura was definitely more powerful than any Gray Wolf King he had t before.
"Luke Vale!" Alina exclaid as she looked at the man on the Gray Wolf King’s back vigilantly. She secretly warned Sharky, "He is at the late stage of the master rank at the very least, but he has never used all of his strength. I believe no one knows how strong he really is. Also, you have to be careful not to look into his eyes. He excels in eye techniques."
"Eye techniques..." Sharky muttered, but he didn’t care about it.
The two of them had t before at the rchant Group. Back then, when he had run into Luke Vale and Christ, the two master ranks, as well as a group of ninth ranked cultivators.
As the Gray Wolf King entered the cave, it revealed two of Luke Vale’s companions who had been hidden behind its massive body.
One was a charming young lady who was dressed in red wedding clothes. She was clearly quite pretty, and yet the sensation she gave off was strange. Her figure was as light as a feather, as if even just a gentle breeze would knock her down. She was holding a child’s hand; the child appeared to be around five or six years old. She was swinging her arm back and forth with an innocent and naive expression.
Sharky couldn’t help but ask, "Are you in a rush to get married or sothing? No, wait, you guys must be getting married because you accidentally got her pregnant!"
Luke Vale initially had a calm and refined expression, but when he heard this, his smile couldn’t help but freeze on his face.
He gave Sharky a look, then said in a profound and aningful voice, "Sir Sharky is young and outstanding after all. As expected, as expected."
Sharky had a confused expression. Why did Luke Vale’s expression look so weird? Or was it his supposed eye technique?
Christ was overjoyed, as if he had seen his savior. He exclaid, "Sir Luke, you ca at the perfect ti! These two know our secret! Hurry and kill them! Moreover you have promised that you will kill the Duke."
Luke Vale looked at Christ. He couldn’t help but shake his head as he said, "Commander in Chief, although I promised you to kill the Duke, but even I don’t know how the Duke has survived."
Sharky expression beca cold hearing that, "So, it was you, who had attacked my consciousness on my wedding day, right?"
"I am sorry for that, but since the Commander in Chief has requested , I decided to participate." Luke Vale replied. He got off the Gray Wolf King and looked at Christ’s body.
A hint of surprise appeared in his eyes, but he didn’t think too much about it as he said, "I am not saying these things as an excuse. You still have ti, Cloudcenter Duke. If you are unwilling to adapt to the tis, and there were too many people who wanted you dead."
Sharky retorted coldly, "All of this was just because I wasn’t willing to beco corrupt along with the rest of you? That is why you want to eliminate . And I think, you also participated in killing my brother Christ, and replacing this imposter, who was willing to cooperate with the fiend races’ smuggling?"
Luke Vale gave him a look, saying, "You know quite a lot, but I didn’t participate in killing your brother, although I still hope you should co-operate with us. Just like your brother used to co-operate with us, after all he was the first one to work with us."
"Oh," Sharky didn’t show much reaction, about knowing that, his brother was also used to co-operate with fiend races.
"But, my question was still there, why did my brother was died, and who the FUCK YOU ARE?" Sharky shouted in anger, looking towards the imposter Christ.
"About this, I can tell you, if you are ready to co-operate with us," Luke said looking at Sharky.
"Ok, tell , first, who is that imposter?" Sharky asked, looking at the imposter Christ.
"Did you know about that parasite?" Luke Vale asked him.
"Why are you explaining all these things to him? Hurry up and get rid of him!" Before Sharky could replied, Christ exclaid, dissatisfied.
"Oh, Parasite," Sharky said, then he looked towards Christ.
"So, you are a parasite, which I hate mostly," Before Christ could understand the aning of his word.
A fire appeared in Sharky’s finger, and before Christ could say anything, it quickly surrounded him.
The parasites scread miserably. At almost the sa instant, smoke ca out of every single one, and they were all lit ablaze. They were burned to dust in just a few breaths of ti.
Before anyone could react, the parasite was destroyed.
Sharky was not a guy of many words, who thought, and talked before taking the action.
He has simple thoughts, if he wants to kill soone, so just kill.
Then he looked back at Luke.
"Now, coming back to your topic, how will you compensate for your attack towards ?"
Although Luke was a little shocked by seeing the scenario of Christ dying, he didn’t really care about it.
"My suggestion is still the sa, we should start trading, like your brother used to do it," He said to him.
"My brother is my brother, I was not my brother, so why should I trade with you guys. Moreover, I think my brother also didn’t want to continue the trade with you." Sharky replied.
"Indeed. Your brother wanted to end the trade, after he made enough money over the years. After he obtained success and recognition, he wanted to wash his hands clean and cut things off." Luke Vale sneered and continued, "But how can sothing so convenient exist in this world? There could be no going back after heading down this path."
Before Sharky replied, Alina interrupted, "Yes, we just found out about this, after all, we are investigating this. But it was good that we found out the traitor was not Christ, but that parasite."
"Even if he did have so dealings with the fiend races back then, but it was within a controllable degree. All of the world’s major clans have done underhanded things. If we really looked into them, we would be able to find sothing no matter which clan we looked into."
"But later on, the fiend races’ appetites only grew stronger. The smuggling reached a shocking scale, and even large amounts of military goods were leaving. Christ was worried that sothing bad would happen, which was why he ended the cooperation with them."
Luke Vale was stunned hearing the reasoning.
But he wasn’t soone who easily lost his composure, and he quickly snapped out of his daze. He asked, "Then does Sir Cedric know that this one at your side has also had so business dealings with us?"
Sharky was surprised. He quickly looked at Alina. Alina nodded and replied, "We indeed had so business dealings, but they were just for so necessary goods and dicines, and the quantity was strictly controlled. There were no military goods involved."
She couldn’t properly explain the previous matter, but this matter was extrely important and she had to explain it clearly. She was also starting to feel sowhat annoyed. What was going on with Luke Vale today? It felt as if he kept speaking poorly about her. Was he trying to drive the two of them apart?
Sharky fell silent for a mont. He didn’t know why Alina had had to engage in any smuggling with the fiend races.
For money? But just the ki stone business alone is enough to make them the wealthiest clan in this world! There’s no need to take that kind of risk at all...
But whatever, Sharky imdiately retorted, "The lives of humans are lives; are the lives of fiend race beings not lives too? As long as everyone can live better, who wants to keep fighting forever? The fiend races aren’t all bad people; the human race has no lack of filth too. So, I don’t care about this."
In the end, Sharky wasn’t a native of this world, so he didn’t carry the centuries-old grudge between the human and fiend races. He subconsciously felt that all life was equal.
Then, he said to Alina with a smile, "Even though I don’t know why you did what you did, after our interactions, I believe you had no choice but to do it."
Alina covered her mouth in disbelief. Her pretty eyes flickered with brilliant colors. She had thought that Sharky might beco hostile, and that he might even be a bit bitter even if he let the matter pass for the greater situation.
However, Sharky had actually spoken such sincere words! She again beca lovestruck looking at him.
Luke Vale was stunned when he heard that. He thought, No wonder the clan lord views him favorably. This man really is different.
But he still coughed and said, "Do you know that what you have said today would be absolutely disgraceful if it reached outside ears? The slightest mistake, and you might not have any place left in human society."
