Becoming the Villainess: I Dominate the Cultivation Realm with My Wok! Chapter 123
"Hehe..." Finally, soone from another queue ca up, rubbing his hands.
Chen Muxue tilted the urn so he could see inside and said casually, "It’s all gone, there’s nothing left."
The man was taken aback and forced a smile, "Goddess, can’t you cook another pot..."
"Gone ans gone," Chen Muxue replied unceremoniously.
"Hey? You girl, can’t you do a good deed to the end?"
Chen Muxue shot him a sharp look, "What? You want to fight?"
The man instantly cowered, his neck shrinking. No matter how much he complained in his heart, he didn’t dare utter another word.
Chen Muxue put away the urn in three quick movents and left the city without looking back.
"Hey! Why didn’t she give any?! We queued for so long!"
"There’s none left, she said it’s all gone. If you want more, win a fight against her!" the first person shouted discontentedly.
Those in the back of the line grumbled incessantly, knowing that even if they queued elsewhere, there would be none left.
"How can she be so harmful!" soone complained.
Yet, they didn’t reflect that if it weren’t for their greed, they wouldn’t have ended up in this situation. At other stands, they could still have a bowl of thin porridge.
A weathered man was licking the bottom of his bowl when suddenly, his wife leaned softly against him.
It was fortunate that he had eaten half a bowl of porridge earlier, which gave him the strength not to let them both fall down.
"Wife, what’s wrong?" the weathered man asked quietly, only to see his wife peacefully closing her eyes, gentle snores coming from her.
The man was taken aback, realizing she was asleep.
Due to tuberculosis, his wife had been coughing constantly. Combined with the stress of fleeing and not having enough to eat, she had slept poorly for many days, greatly fearing harm from others.
Now, being able to sleep was quite good.
The weathered man sat down with his wife, waiting quietly for her to wake.
"Oh no! The porridge from Qian Ding Sect has killed soone!"
Soone, noticing the situation on the man’s side, shouted loudly without understanding.
The man scrambled to explain, but couldn’t outshout the chaotic chatter of others.
Most were those standing behind in the queue at Qian Ding Sect, who hadn’t gotten any porridge.
"No, no..."
In the midst of the commotion, guards ca to check. Squatting down, without even feeling her breath, they heard the woman’s snores.
The guard was speechless, "What’s all the racket! She’s just sleeping! If you keep causing a scene, all of you will be thrown in jail!"
Silence fell over the crowd.
The woman, startled awake by the guard’s shout, blearily rubbed her eyes, "What’s going on?"
"Nothing," the weathered man soothed, patting his wife’s back.
Unexpectedly, the woman clutched her chest with an odd expression.
"What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell? I’ll take you to the doctor!" the man’s heart suddenly leapt.
The woman hurriedly shook her head, her face full of suspicion and strangeness, "Husband, I seem to be..."
"What is it?! Tell !" the man was anxious.
His wife was his only family. He had been married for three years without having children, and despite his mother’s pressure, he had refused to divorce her. Then they had encountered a drought.
They had always depended on each other. His wife contracted tuberculosis on the road. He had even thought that after she passed, he would follow her.
The woman felt it out a while and exclaid in disbelief, "I seem to be better!"
"Better? What do you an?" The man was montarily confused or perhaps dared not believe such good fortune.
"The tuberculosis, my tuberculosis is gone! Look, I’m not coughing anymore!" The woman even stood up and spun around in delight.
In that instant, the man was transported back in ti to the scene when he first t her in the village.
