I have never been in a police station in my whole life. Even when our hospital got raided, I was let go by the police even before I got investigated.
At that ti, it was all thanks to the money poured by the hospital to not get investigated, and I felt a little thankful.
But the issue was—I had never been in a police station before, and coming from modern tis, I could not say that I had a good impression of the police as well. The most I could do was trust the officer who sought out regularly.
And speaking of that officer, the one who ca to greet was Officer Henry.
"Boss, you are here. This man is mighty suspicious. He’s telling us he has the solution to our rodent problem. What do you think we should do about him-?"
The officer who led inside asked his boss as he kept shooting suspicious glances.
I pretended not to notice the looks I was getting, and I continued to sit confidently while giving an ’I don’t care’ look back to the officers.
Soone I had known before had told that police officers hated to get ignored, and right now, I could tell that I was getting to them.
Only Officer Henry looked unbothered as he skipped toward . Everyone else just looked tired to see him.
It told that this was not the first ti the huge officer had decided to act like a child. And currently, the officer gave his full attention.
Cough
"So, my people have told that you were sent here by the shopkeeper and you have brought us a solution for our rodent infestation. I would like to thank you on behalf of all the residents of this place for that."
Officer Henry told as he took the previously unoccupied seat in front of .
His secretary only sighed as she watched her boss behave like this before she decided she could not take it anymore and dropped her body in the seat beside him.
She was as huge as the man, and her fra looked sturdy as well.
’Wow-! That girl looks like she can break in half without even trying... and she doesn’t look like the happy or friendly sort either. I better watch my words from here on.’
I reminded myself as I brought out the packets of the rodent repeller from my pocket and extended them toward the pair in front of .
"Here. These will help you out against the rodents. All you need to do is tear these things apart and spread them on the ground."
I told the two people in front of , and Officer Henry opened the packet without hesitation.
"Officer, you cannot just do that-! Ugh, fine-! Do what you want. See if I care."
The secretary tried to warn Officer Henry against the packets, but the officer trusted the shopkeeper and opened them anyway.
A soft and clean sll filled the police station, and everyone started to relax when nothing happened for a whole minute.
I felt a little awkward, but I also understood why the police were so alert. That also reminded of what I saw before.
"I will give you enough packets if you tell how many hos you need to distribute them to. You can contact through the storekeeper."
The police officers did not look happy when I ntioned the storekeeper. That made feel better about my idea of wearing a mask to co here.
Only Officer Henry looked happy and gave a reassuring look.
"Alright, I got it. We’ll tell you how many packets we need once we test them out and get our data sorted."
That was a very polite way of the officer telling that he did not trust fully... or perhaps he said that to appease the officers around him.
Whatever the case, my work here was done, and now it was ti to go back.
Before I left, I decided to give the police one last piece of advice.
"Ah-! That reminds . You should clean up your sewage system. Having too much garbage can give the rats a good breeding ground. You need a way to control their numbers even after you find ways to protect yourself from them."
My aning was simple—ignoring the problem and avoiding it was not going to help anyone.
The people would have to face the rats, and soone would have to eliminate them.
"Hmm, the sewers? Of course... so that’s where the rats are hiding. How could we have missed sothing that obvious."
Officer Henry muttered as he got lost in his thoughts.
His secretary coughed to grab my attention, and she gave a short bow of gratitude.
"We are thankful for your help. We will let you know about the order and ask for an invoice soon."
The female’s gaze was piercing, and I decided that I had overstayed my welco. I quickly left the police station after that.
Now, these rats were no longer my problem, and I could relax and let soone else deal with them.
________
"The sewage system-! How did sothing this important escape from my mind?"
General Henry questioned as he looked at the packet in his hand. The soft and subtle clean sll made his body relax.
His secretary just sighed as she joined him.
"We had too much to do, General. It is no wonder that we forgot."
She reminded the general, but Henry frowned once more.
"No, I think it’s more than that... the clues we found led us astray. That likely ans that soone is behind this sche. The shopkeeper must have sent that ssage through his person to tell us that."
General Henry was convinced about this, but his secretary was not.
She was sure that her boss had just decided to twist a coincidence around to match it to his narrative.
’Not that I can say anything to change his mind. For now, I will pretend to agree with him.’
Lina Berga sighed as she nodded.
"You might be right. For now, should we test these packets out to see how effective they are? It will take us so ti to check the whole city out, and we cannot let the people suffer."
She told her supervisor, and he imdiately stood up and grabbed a few packets.
"You are right. Let’s go and test these packets out. Which is the most rodent-infected area around here? We should go there and check."
The decision was made, and a few officers accompanied the pair to check the effect of these pills out.
As soon as the rats touched the pills, they ran away and did not even dare approach the area where these packets had spilled.
"No way-! The rats actually backed off? These rats... aren’t they famous for not backing down, no matter what?"
An officer questioned, but Officer Henry only gave them all a smile.
"See, I told you that the shopkeeper was amazing. You all should have never doubted him to begin with. For now, let’s place an order for more so that we can provide relief to the people."
