Sun Dasheng finally understood why, after all these years, she still held onto this grudge despite her usually good temper.
Probably, in her third year, Zhong Liying’s outstanding performance made her a sure candidate for postgraduate recomndation.
However, a male student from her major, in order to replace her and secure the spot, colluded with her good roommate, Huang Feifei, to spread rumors and cause trouble,
and the university, naturally, prioritized protecting its reputation.
Without investigating the truth thoroughly, they directly canceled Zhong Liying’s qualification for the postgraduate recomndation.
And, of course, the male student didn’t succeed in the end either.
The spot was taken by another student with connections at the school.
It’s said that this connected student later ntioned that he ought to thank the trouble-making male student, otherwise he wouldn’t have dared to do it.
Afraid of getting caught in the ss.
But grabbing an opportunity poses no issue at all.
The trouble-making male student ended up with nothing.
As for Huang Feifei, the reason she colluded with him was to use him as a ans to escape her impoverished rural family.
In the end, it was all for a city hukou, wanting to settle down here.
While other university girls were still naively thinking about romance, she had already picked out her future stepping stone.
This stepping stone later beca her husband.
Afterwards, when she realized this stepping stone had beco a cage preventing her from a better life, it was already too late.
Local n with slightly better family conditions wouldn’t accept her bringing a child into a second marriage.
She had to stay in that family until the man lost money in stocks and ran up high debts.
Finally, having had enough, Huang Feifei decisively divorced to completely sever ties with that family.
This is the whole picture of it.
Of course, the latter part was pieced together by Sun Dasheng from various pieces of information.
Only the beginning was Zhong Liying’s account.
"You’ve been through a lot." Sun Dasheng said, playing with her soft earlobe.
"Oh, don’t touch there, it tickles." Zhong Liying pushed away his teasing hand.
"You don’t think I’m too vengeful, holding grudges, do you?"
"Heh, anyone would’ve reacted the sa in your situation, plus you provided a safer workspace for her. If it weren’t for you, she’d still be worrying about survival.
I think she should actually thank you instead of saying heartless things like you were using public ans for personal revenge."
Hearing him speak up for her so wholeheartedly, Zhong Liying felt a warm glow inside.
"As long as you don’t think so, that’s enough. As for the others at the company, their mouths are theirs to run."
"Should I, crack...?" Sun Dasheng made an exaggerated hand-slash gesture.
It made Zhong Liying burst into laughter, she swatted him playfully, "You think you’re an Emperor from the olden tis? Beheading and all."
"Haha, you’re wrong, who has that power now?
What I ant was figuratively removing a problem to set an example for others."
"Forget it, no way! The market isn’t good these days, firing anyone wouldn’t be ideal.
It’s rely a job to make ends et, there’s no need to have high expectations of them.
If it were higher managent, I definitely wouldn’t be so lenient."
Zhong Liying remarked.
Sun Dasheng nodded in reassurance.
It seems this woman is already a competent executive.
Firm when necessary, but able to be soft when required.
Checking the ti on her phone, Zhong Liying quickly smacked her forehead, "Oh no."
"What’s up?" Sun Dasheng hugged her, asking.
She pushed Sun Dasheng’s arms away, got up, and dressed, "Lunch break is over, it’s almost ti for the afternoon shift."
"You’re a general manager, yet still punch the clock on ti like regular employees?" Sun Dasheng asked, lying on the bed.
Zhong Liying shot him a look, "I’m not like you, without your imposing presence. If I don’t lead by example, who knows how many will fake compliance while disobeying secretly."
....
Watching Zhong Liying’s hurried departure, Sun Dasheng continued to snooze.
He hadn’t slept long when a phone’s ringtone startled him awake.
"Hello, who is it?" he asked into the phone without opening his eyes.
"Mr. Sun, are you still napping?" A light, pleasant voice ca through the phone.
Just as Sun Dasheng was wondering who might this caller be, the voice continued.
"Mr. Sun, I’m Yu Manli, your daughter’s kindergarten teacher, do you rember?
I asked for your contact info outside the kindergarten before."
Sun Dasheng woke up thoroughly.
"Oh, it’s Mr. Yu, is there sothing up?"
"Mr. Sun, sorry for disturbing your nap, but there’s an issue with your child here at school, could you please co over personally?"
Yu Manli’s voice carried so urgency.
"What happened? Is it serious?"
Before he got an answer, he heard commotion on the other end, then the phone was picked up by a middle-aged man.
A loud, grating voice rattled his ears, "Hello, is this the other child’s parent? My son Haohao was bullied by your kid, what do you say to that?
If we can’t resolve this satisfactorily, humph! There’ll be consequences!"
The call ended.
Sun Dasheng was left bewildered.
But he didn’t dally, quickly calling a car back to the office.
He grabbed Da Yong, and they drove to the kindergarten.
Kindergarten teacher’s office.
Upon entering, Sun Dasheng found Yu Manli earnestly explaining sothing to a middle-aged couple.
The couple had a striking resemblance, both plump and round-faced.
