"Of course not!" Sun Dasheng denied, shaking his head.
"Then tell the girl’s identity information, so I can verify it." The veteran officer was experienced in handling such matters.
Without hesitating, Sun Dasheng imdiately rattled off Fang Sihan’s personal details.
"He’s making it all up! Don’t believe him, officer! The young lady is drunk and can’t speak, so whatever he says goes." Lee Li promptly exposed Sun Dasheng’s lie.
Then, she turned to the crowd and explained, "This man is my ex-husband. We only divorced a few days ago, and I’m certain he never had a friend like her before. He must be taking advantage of her while she’s drunk, trying to assault her!"
The onlookers were skeptical, quietly enjoying the show. There had been too many scandals with sudden reversals these days, and they had all learned their lesson. They weren’t so easily emotionally swayed anymore.
Seeing this, Lee Li continued to pile on the accusations. "Even before our divorce, he was a compulsive gambler and a dostic abuser! I couldn’t stand it anymore, that’s why I divorced him. His character is despicable; he’s capable of anything."
"I can testify! I was their classmate, and I saw all of this with my own eyes," Wang Jiadong, the bootlicker, chid in eagerly. He just wanted to crush Sun Dasheng to get revenge for him stealing his ’goddess’ back in the day.
His words ignited the atmosphere, and the crowd of onlookers began to murmur.
"n are all trash; they should be chemically castrated."
"You really do see sothing new every day. I’ve only read about this stuff in the news. To think I’d get to witness it myself."
"Did you see that girl in his arms? She looks like a Heavenly Immortal. If it were , I might commit a cri too, hehe..."
...
Clearly, Lee Li’s slanderous accusations were highly inflammatory, much like when Pan Pang had been publicly slandered online by Dong Bailian.
"That’s ridiculous. We’re already divorced. Why would I need to report my new friends to you?" Sun Dasheng responded calmly, addressing the first point. He then waggled his phone. "Lee Li, I’ve recorded all the slanderous things you just said. You can wait to receive a summons from my lawyer."
Before Lee Li could retort, the old police officer interrupted.
"Alright, that’s enough. If you two could sort this out by arguing, why would you need the police?"
He had a younger officer separate the two parties while he took out an all-in-one police terminal from his kit. He walked over to Fang Sihan to collect her fingerprint and verify her identity.
Taking advantage of the lull, Sun Dasheng glanced over his forr classmates. Seeing their looks of schadenfreude, he found it quite interesting.
It seems marrying the ’goddess’ right after graduation really earned the wrath of the masses.
In the crowd, a relatively tall man t his gaze. His na was Wang Tianfeng. He had been the class’s sports representative and a mber of the departnt’s basketball team. Back then, his tall, handso figure on the court had captivated many of the girls in their class.
Ti is indeed a butcher’s knife! The wind-chasing youth from the basketball court had now beco a balding uncle.
Sun Dasheng smiled at him.
"What are you laughing at?" Wang Tianfeng asked, annoyed.
You’re in deep trouble today, yet you’re still here laughing at ?
"Nothing. I’m just happy to see old classmates I haven’t seen in so long."
"By the way, what are you all doing gathered here today?" Sun Dasheng asked.
The question made everyone awkward. Wang Tianfeng scratched at the last two tufts of hair on his head, unsure how to answer.
Should we tell him we’re having our ten-year class reunion? And that he wasn’t invited?
Although so classmates hadn’t shown up for various reasons, they had all been invited. More importantly, since Lee Li was here, they couldn’t use the excuse that they couldn’t get in touch with him.
"Heh heh... We just haven’t seen each other in a while, so we decided to get together," said Wang Tianfeng. As a long-ti teacher, he didn’t have the thick skin of soone out in society.
The other classmates quickly chid in.
"That’s right, Da Sheng. It was a spontaneous idea from soone, so we just ca out for a gathering."
"We didn’t call you because we just didn’t think of it at the mont. Please don’t take it personally."
"Exactly, exactly! Da Sheng, you wouldn’t mind, would you?"
...
"Tsk!"
A scornful sound cut through the air. Sun Dasheng looked over and saw it was Lee Li.
"They don’t dare tell you the truth because they’re afraid of hurting your pathetic ego," she said. "We’re holding our ten-year class reunion today. As for why you weren’t invited, you should know the answer yourself. Don’t ask and humiliate yourself further."
She was as proud as ever, like a swan with its neck held high.
Sun Dasheng just found it amusing. How did I ever end up marrying such a piece of work?
He’s still laughing? The smile on Sun Dasheng’s face was pure, naked mockery to her. Just wait. You’ve fallen into my hands tonight. You’re going to suffer.
She began plotting in her mind. Tomorrow, I’ll spread his vile acts all over my social dia and ruin his reputation for good. I’ll let everyone know I was right to divorce him. I’m not so gold-digger; I left him because his character is so utterly depraved. Yes... the plan is perfect!
However, she was quickly slapped in the face by reality.
"Her identity information matches what you said," the old officer announced to Sun Dasheng after finishing his verification. "It’s all a misunderstanding."
"How is that possible!" Lee Li cried out. "Officer, is there sothing wrong with your machine? Maybe you should check again."
Hearing this, the old officer’s face darkened. Young lady, are you trying to tell how to do my job?
"This is the latest equipnt issued to our station. There’s no chance of an error," he said curtly. "Alright, since it was a misunderstanding, just sign the report, and everyone can be on their way."
Just then, the KTV manager ca running out, feigning breathlessness.
"Sorry, sorry, I’m late!"
His eyes scanned the crowd, landed on Sun Dasheng, and he imdiately rushed over to him. This man is our top spender today. I can’t afford to offend him. I have to make him feel the warmth of a spring breeze.
With the matter concluded, the manager arrived at the first opportunity to give Sun Dasheng so face. He then addressed the crowd. "It’s all a misunderstanding. I personally received this gentleman, and I can prove they are friends who ca here to have fun together."
Turning to Lee Li and Wang Jiadong, his tone beca sharp. "You two, why didn’t you ask before calling the police? Even if you couldn’t find , we have plenty of staff here. Why would you call the police before getting the facts straight? Making such a huge fuss over a trivial matter. Not only did you waste the officers’ ti, but you also ruined everyone’s mood. How immature."
The manager’s rciless words toward Lee Li and Wang Jiadong made them fu with anger. Seeing the strange looks from everyone around them, they couldn’t bear the pressure. After signing the report, they slunk away in disgrace, not even bothering to say goodbye to the classmates they had co with.
The crowd of onlookers dispersed as if nothing had happened.
One by one, the old classmates ca over to greet Sun Dasheng.
"Da Sheng, we’re sorry about what happened today."
"Yeah, Da Sheng, we were going to tell you about the reunion, but that scoundrel Wang Jiadong ssed things up. Please don’t hold it against us," explained their class president, Li Shuhua.
Such excuses might work on students who hadn’t entered society yet, but to an old fox like Sun Dasheng, it was as transparent as covering one’s ears to steal a bell.
He didn’t say anything, however, simply smiling at her. The vibrant young woman from their youth had beco a wealthy-looking woman with a fleshy face. Ti truly spares no one.
He took the drunk Fang Sihan back to the private room.
Inside, the two young won were oblivious to the outside world, completely absorbed in their karaoke.
"Eh! Uncle, what happened to Si Han?" Li Sili finally noticed their return. She put down the microphone and rushed over to help him move the dead-weight Fang Sihan onto the sofa.
"She drank too much. Nearly passed out by the restroom door."
"Oh! Uncle, it’s all my fault. I should have gone with her," Li Sili said, smacking her little head in regret.
