After finishing the paperwork, Wu Xiaojun and his girlfriend returned to the reception room, where he saw his sister and his good friend, Sun Dasheng, huddled so closely they were almost touching.

He was inwardly amused. So, it’s confird. All my previous speculations were correct.

"Da Sheng, the license plates you wanted are ready. The two Shanghai A-series plates cost 200,000 yuan in total."

Wu Xiaojun handed the neatly arranged folder to Sun Dasheng, his tone tinged with regret. "If you weren’t in such a hurry, we could have saved a lot of money. The car dealers all have connections and can get internal pricing."

Sun Dasheng motioned for a staff mber and ordered coffee for Wu Xiaojun and Zhao Fang. "Sit down and have so coffee first. Thanks for your help just now."

Wu Xiaojun and Zhao Fang quickly insisted it was no trouble, taking their coffees and sitting on the far end of the sofa.

"Why are you sitting so far away?" Sun Dasheng patted the seat beside him. "I’m not your boss. What’s there to be afraid of? Co sit over here."

The two of them quickly shuffled closer.

Seeing their cautious deanor, he felt as if he were looking at a shadow of his forr self. In an effort to control them and establish psychological dominance, he had unconsciously adopted the bossy attitude he used to hate the most. I’ve beco the very person I used to despise.

With a self-mocking smile, he let his body relax, slumping lazily onto the sofa in a deep slouch. The imposing aura he had carried just monts before vanished instantly. The two people beside him relaxed as well.

Sun Dasheng glanced at Wu Xiaoli, who was sitting ramrod straight, and then said to Wu Xiaojun, "Xiaojun, your sister has been worrying herself sick over your situation. You need to treat her well in the future."

Wu Xiaojun forced a smile, though he didn’t believe a word of it. Out loud, he said, "Of course, Da Sheng. She’s my only sister. If I don’t take care of her, who else would I take care of?"

Sun Dasheng saw right through him but didn’t call him out. "Your sister told everything. You need to be understanding. Her relationship with your brother-in-law is a bit tense right now, and she’s in a tough spot with the money for your wedding. She can’t co up with it, so don’t bla her."

"Then what am I supposed to do about my wedding? If I don’t get married soon, Zhao Fang’s mom is going to marry her off to soone else!"

At his core, Wu Xiaojun was a selfish person. Only in the first few years after entering the workforce had he been simple-minded, thinking of earning money to support his sister’s education. Later, he picked up bad habits, turning his sister into a classic example of soone who spoiled her brother to her own detrint.

"Don’t get ahead of yourself," Sun Dasheng soothed.

Zhao Fang, seated next to Wu Xiaojun, was perceptive. Sensing what Sun Dasheng was about to say, she quickly grabbed her boyfriend’s arm. "Just listen to what Da Sheng has to say first."

His girlfriend’s words clearly had an effect. He cald down and said apologetically, "I’m sorry, Da Sheng. I was rude just now."

Sun Dasheng waved it off. "Like I said, your sister and I are good friends. There’s no need for such formalities. What you did just now was understandable under the circumstances."

He took a sip of tea and continued, "How about this? I happen to have the cash. I can lend the money for your wedding to your sister. We’ll say she’s the one borrowing from . How you two sort it out afterward is none of my business. What do you think?"

Wu Xiaojun’s expression froze for a second before he felt a surge of secret delight. ’Lending’ it to my sister? He’s obviously just giving it to her. Does he seriously expect her to pay it back? He’s just saying this so people don’t find out about their affair.

Seeing that everyone was silent, Sun Dasheng added, "Xiaojun, don’t think I’m making this complicated. It’s just that I only know your sister, so it wouldn’t be right for to lend the money directly to you."

Wu Xiaojun quickly played along. "It’s not complicated at all. If I were in your shoes, I’d do the sa thing. Who would lend money to soone they’ve only t once?"

He then turned to his sister, Wu Xiaoli, with an expectant look in his eyes. Even though this new "brother-in-law" was generous, whether the money actually reached him depended on his sister. Zhao Fang also watched her with anticipation.

Only when Sun Dasheng’s gaze also fell on her did Wu Xiaoli snap out of her daze. She looked at Sun Dasheng, her expression complex. Then, she looked at her hopeful brother and thought of her mother lying in her hospital bed, waiting expectantly. Her heart softened.

"Alright, let’s do that."

After writing out a promissory note on the spot, signing and fingerprinting it, Sun Dasheng transferred the money to Wu Xiaoli. The bank card the system had set up for him had no transfer limit. Including this expense, he had now spent a total of 9.5 million yuan, leaving 5.5 million of the 15 million he had previously withdrawn from the system.

Wu Xiaoli tossed the card that had received the transfer to Wu Xiaojun, telling him to handle the wedding himself; she was done with it.

Wu Xiaojun snatched the card and imdiately pulled his girlfriend toward the Porsche showroom to buy his dream car. He felt no pressure spending this money at all. It was a gift from his new sucker of a brother-in-law, and he’d never have to pay it back.

Watching the two of them leave with joyful smiles, Wu Xiaoli turned to Sun Dasheng and asked with a complicated look, "Why?"

With no one else around, Sun Dasheng dropped his pretense. He wrapped his large, fan-like hand around Wu Xiaoli’s slender waist and, with a gentle pull, brought her into his arms.

"What do you think?" he murmured.

He held her delicate body close, leaning in until their faces were nearly touching. The intimate gesture was an answer in itself.

The reception room was quite private, and they stayed like that for a long ti. Lying in his broad embrace, Wu Xiaoli’s cheeks flushed, reminiscent of a young woman tipsy on wine—a mix of innocence and maturity. He couldn’t resist planting a few more kisses on her face.

A cough ca from the doorway. He looked over to see Wu Xiaojun standing there, winking and gesturing that soone was coming.

Sun Dasheng’s face reddened with embarrassnt. He had no idea when they had arrived. He had been so engrossed in his intimate mont with Wu Xiaoli that he had completely forgotten to pay attention to his surroundings. He straightened their disheveled clothes and helped up Wu Xiaoli, whose body was weak and limp.

Wu Xiaoli shot him a glare but didn’t make a scene, seeming to have resigned herself to her fate. Picking up the fur coat from the sofa, she draped it over her shoulders and left without a word.

"Sis, wait for !" Wu Xiaojun called out, hurrying after her. Halfway there, he turned back to thank Sun Dasheng. "Da Sheng, thanks for everything today! Next ti we et, drinks are on ."

「At the entrance of the convention center.」

Sun Dasheng was smoking alone when he saw the trio in the crowd. He stubbed out his cigarette and waved.

The sharp-eyed Li Sili spotted him and imdiately began jumping and waving back. "Uncle, we’re over here!"

「After they t up.」

"Uncle, I nearly froze to death today," Fang Sihan complained, her face still pale. Without that kind of rigorous experience, she naturally couldn’t handle the cold like the veteran models.

"Then get in the car, quick. I turned the heat on ahead of ti."

Inside the car, the warmth was so intense it felt as if they had instantly gone from winter to spring.

"Wow, it’s so warm!" Li Sili exclaid, scrambling into the passenger seat. Feeling her body temperature rise, she took off her thick coat. Her feet were a bit sore after walking around all day, so she slipped off her heavy black leather boots, freeing them.

She knelt on the passenger seat, facing backward, to chat with her two friends about the day’s gossip. A pair of small, delicate feet wrapped in white stockings swung restlessly in front of Sun Dasheng.

"Uncle, did you buy your car?" she asked, turning her head.

The two girls in the back also looked over.
