anwhile, Edith was still watching cartoons with her twins in her apartnt. Actually, Edith was starting to worry about Callum to the point where she couldn’t focus on the show. Every ti her twins comnted on sothing, she would just stay silent and stare at her phone screen, which hadn’t received any notifications from her ex-boyfriend. Usually, Callum would always tell her what was going on, but now he was still silent even though two hours had passed. She hoped nothing had happened to Callum during their lunch with his stepfamily.
"Mom, will Dad be okay?" Erdin asked softly.
Edith smiled softly, stroking her son’s soft cheek. "Of course. Your father was a very strong man who faced any challenge."
"But, actually, daddy once acted desperate when he was oppressed by the witch family."
"What do you an, Erdin? Why are you only telling now?"
"Actually, daddy always told not to tell mommy because he didn’t want to look weak."
As ti went on, Edith felt a sense of foreboding as she listened to Erdin’s story. Had she made a mistake from the start, making Callum feel even worse?
"What does Callum usually do all this ti? You have to tell the whole story!"
Erdin pursed his lips. "But, does mom really hate dad?"
"I never hated him. In fact, I still love him now."
"But, all this ti, daddy thought that mommy really hated him."
"I knew he’d misunderstand for going this far." Her right hand clenched tightly. "What does your father usually do when he’s helpless?"
"I don’t know what he’s been thinking all this ti. What’s certain is that Dad always gets seriously ill whenever he’s stressed."
Her head ached even more after hearing her son’s report. She kept staring at her phone screen, hoping Callum would take the initiative to contact her first to let her know that he was actually fine, despite being bullied by his stepfamily.
"But, Dad said there’s no need to worry anymore. He’s often told that since Mom arrived, he’s always been cheerful," Eliana said with an innocent look.
"I’ve always seen him cheerful. He never showed his weak side in front of ."
"Dad always said that he wouldn’t act weak in front of mom so that mom wouldn’t worry about him."
Edith couldn’t hold back the tears that stread down her cheeks. After Callum attended his stepfamily eting, she decided she wanted to apologize and give the truthful answer to the question. Now she just had to wait to hear from Callum.
"Callum is so stupid. Why does he have to carry all the burdens alone? He should have shared them with if he trusted ."
"I miss Daddy so much. I want to play with him tomorrow," Eliana whined, swinging her tiny legs nimbly.
"Of course, you can play with and your father again tomorrow. Because today I want to apologize to him." She kissed her twins’ cheeks happily. "Thank you for telling this important thing."

Callum was still furious at his stepfather’s selfish behavior over his child’s problems. He didn’t even want to finish his lunch, as he was so reluctant to touch anything in the house. His most important mission now was to protect Erdin as his biological son at all costs. But who would support him in this dire situation? His ex-girlfriend certainly wouldn’t, either.
"Callum, you better not be stubborn if you don’t want Erdin to suffer a bad fate!" said his father firmly.
"I admit Cliff is very similar to my father! You guys are very selfish to take all my precious possessions!"
"Watch your words, Callum!" Cliff snapped, banging his fist on the table.
"Even father didn’t care about my biological mother, who died in an accident. That’s why, until now, I’ve never considered you human! All this ti, I’ve been helping you solve the company’s problems because I deserve to be the primary heir!"
"Kevin, you should probably continue your conversation with Callum after lunch," Diana suggested.
Kevin nodded. "I think we need to talk things over with this kid so he doesn’t continue to misunderstand."
Callum was invited into a study by his father. His mood worsened when he heard his father ntion his biological mother in the middle of the eting, and he was currently experiencing so rather complicated love life issues.
"I don’t want to beat around the bush with you, Callum. You were still a kid at the ti, and you didn’t know about adult issues."
"I’m in a hurry too right now. I don’t feel like chatting with you today!"
"Actually, before your mother had her accident, she told that she deeply regretted marrying because she was never happy. That’s why she filed for divorce."
"Then why did you want to accept my mother if you didn’t love her?"
"Because your mother and I made a mistake in the past. Because she got pregnant, we were forced to get married." Kevin exhaled sharply. "That’s why I don’t want to repeat the sa mistake. I want Cliff to be held accountable for his actions and this ti, he’ll truly love Edith."
"No. You’re wrong. Cliff never loved Edith, and he’s been sleeping with Arabella all this ti!"
"Arabella is going to be your fiancée. Can’t you see the positive comnts online?"
"Maybe my mother is planning to file for divorce because she knows you’re just using her! When the company is having problems, you’re taking all the bla out on my mother!"
"Before you accuse carelessly, you should reflect on yourself first!"
"I can see it with my own eyes. When I was little, you never cared about us. Moreover, you only considered my mother as your mistress."
"But isn’t that how it should be? Don’t expect you two to have a prominent position in my family! Just because of your mother’s selfishness, I was forced to accept it!" Kevin chuckled in annoyance, shaking his head. "Every ti I see you, I’m actually disgusted. That’s why I keep urging you to get married quickly. You’re just the result of our mistakes!"
Every ti he heard those hurtful words, cold sweat always drenched his entire body and his breathing beca increasingly labored.
