Edith wondered who this important person was who wanted to see her, and who had asked her to talk in the car. As she entered a white sedan, her eyes widened as she stared at the figure of Cliff’s biological mother. They had t in person before, having been introduced to her several tis, but her relationship with Cliff’s mother wasn’t good. Furthermore, she believed this eting wasn’t about Cliff.

"Good afternoon, Auntie," Edith greeted, bowing her head.

"Welco, Edith. We haven’t seen each other for a long ti," said Diana with a friendly smile.

"Thank you for inviting . It’s an honor to et you."

"Actually, my reason for coming to you now is because I’m curious about your relationship with Cliff. You haven’t visited with him lately."

Edith lowered her head for a mont, staring at her fingers. "I’m sorry. I’ve been aning to tell you this for a long ti."

"Are you guys fighting?"

Edith shook her head quickly. "No. Cliff and I are fine, actually."

"Then why are you apologizing?"

"Because I decided I didn’t want to marry Cliff. I never actually thought of him as my boyfriend."

"Then, who do you love? Do you love Callum?"

"Yes, I actually love Callum. Now I realize that my heart belongs only to him, not Cliff."

Diana finally showed her true side. She showed several photos of Edith and Callum’s every move.

Edith, who was looking at all the photos, had her mouth hanging open. She had no idea Diana had been watching her movents all this ti.

"You’ve been watching all this ti?"

"Of course. Even though it seems like Callum’s been chasing you all this ti, you’re still easily tempted by him. Did Callum give you a lot of money?"

"No. I think you misunderstood, Auntie. I don’t like Callum because I like his money. He loves sincerely."

"Then, what about Cliff? Haven’t you thought about him?"

"Cliff treats only as a friend. Of course I can’t give him my heart."

Diana laughed in annoyance, shaking her head. "You’re really overreacting, Edith!"

"What do you an?"

"For five years, Cliff has always helped you, but you never thanked him. You can’t love him even though he loves you sincerely."

"Auntie, actually I–"

"Actually, Cliff confided in that you’ve been ignoring him lately. That’s why I decided to secretly spy on you. Turns out you’ve been cheating on him all this ti!"

Edith clutched her dress, trembling. She was confused as to why she was being blad, even though she truly loved Callum. Instead, she wanted to tell Diana that Cliff had been cheating on her with Arabella. But would Diana believe her?

"I didn’t cheat! But I was more attracted to Callum from the start!"

"You can’t fall in love with Callum. Callum belonged to Arabella from the start."

"What?"

"Didn’t you see the news that was published yesterday? It’s already proven that Callum and Arabella are deeply in love with each other. Thanks to them publicly flaunting their relationship, our company has also beco increasingly profitable. Furthermore, both families have decided to hold a wedding as soon as possible."

Hearing Diana’s words, which further increased her blood pressure, Edith couldn’t hold back the tears that stread down her cheeks. Was she just going to give up? Why did she have to give in to Arabella when she’d been trying to harm Callum all this ti?

"So, do you believe that nonsense?"

"Actually, I got the video without the audio edited. If you watch it again, I’m sure you’ll understand the situation." Diana confidently played the video of Callum and Arabella in the pool.

Edith’s eyes grew even more teary as she heard Arabella’s sexy moans and the way her beautiful legs deliberately and openly touched Callum’s thighs. Furthermore, the sounds of kissing lips made her headache even worse. If she continued to watch, she wouldn’t be able to control her anger.

"So, what should I do now?" asked Edith resignedly, massaging her aching temples.

"I want you to break up with Callum. I don’t want to see Callum dating you anymore."

"May I know the reason, why?"

"This is for Callum’s own good. If he marries Arabella, Callum will get a position on the board of directors at his father’s company. Do you want Callum to be denied what he’s always wanted? Callum has been complaining to all this ti because he never got what he’s always wanted, even though he’s helped his father so much."

"Is that all I need to do? What good will I get if I break up with him?"

"Of course you can have Cliff too. You marry him and Cliff will be happy to help you run your business."

"But, if I were to grant your wish, would you keep your promise to give Callum a position on the board of directors?"

"Edith, I’m not a mother who likes to let my son suffer. Don’t worry, I will definitely grant your wish."

*****

After a lengthy discussion with Diana, Edith returned to her office. Her legs gave out at the suggestion, and she nearly fell down the stairs. In the end, her desire to marry Callum was just an illusion. In reality, she couldn’t have him. Now she was at a loss for what to do. These two choices would significantly impact their future.

All day, Edith stared blankly out the window. She had thought this through carefully to ensure Callum wouldn’t be hard. Initially, this dinner date was supposed to be sweet, but now she would use it to tell Callum the truth. She had also promised herself that she wouldn’t hide anything from him anymore.

Before returning ho, Edith called Callum first. Within ten seconds, the call was connected.

"Callum, can you have a dinner date with tonight?"

"Of course. I’m sure I can have a date with you today. I’m getting impatient, especially since you suddenly contacted now."

Actually, Edith had been holding back her tears because she couldn’t bear to have her last dinner date with Callum tonight.
