Rembering that beautiful mont in her dream world, tears flowed down her cheeks without realizing it, causing her to wake up montarily. Her gaze imdiately fell on her lover, who was still sleeping soundly. Her right hand slowly touched her soft cheek, her heart aching even more as she thought about how she had been so selfless in front of her lover, who had always cared for her without getting bored. If only she had realized this earlier, she wouldn’t have to feel regret.
"Callum... I’m sorry. I didn’t keep my promise. All I’ve ever done is hate you. But I actually promised you that I would never forget you, even if I had amnesia."
For a mont she wanted to wipe her wet cheeks, but her cheeks were imdiately wiped by her lover, making her flinch.
"Don’t cry, Edith."
"Callum, have you been awake for a while?"
Callum slowly opened his eyes, his right hand stroking his lover’s soft cheek. "Actually, I woke up a while ago because I heard you crying."
"Sorry, I didn’t an to wake you."
His strong arms embraced his lover’s slender body, patting her back rhythmically. "Why are you crying? From what I hear, it doesn’t sound like a nightmare."
"Actually, my mory is coming back. But it’s not a nightmare. I’m rembering a sweet mont we shared a long ti ago." Edith took a mont to suck in the mucus that was almost flowing from her nose while controlling her increasingly gasping breath.
"Edith, if you can’t tell the story, don’t force yourself."
"I made a promise to you when we celebrated our first anniversary. I promised you that the first person I would rember when I had amnesia would be you. But I haven’t rembered anything for five years. All I’ve done is keep blaming you for not looking for ." Her head hung in resignation. "I’m sorry, Callum."
"This isn’t your fault. Besides, it’s impossible for soone with amnesia to rember everything instantly." A heavy sigh escaped his lips. "Even though I had to wait five years for you, I never hated you for a second. I purposely didn’t look for you because there were certain circumstances that we weren’t allowed to do. In fact, I even had amnesia due to an accident."
Edith raised her head slowly. "Have you ever had amnesia? Why didn’t you ever tell ?"
"Actually, I wanted to tell you at the right ti. Especially since you still hate , I was afraid it would look like I was forcing you to rember it."
"No way. I need to hear your story. Especially since I rember the accident."
Her eyes widened and her mouth dropped open. "Why didn’t you ever tell sothing this important?"
"Because I’m scared when I rember that incident. You were seriously injured at the ti, and you protected Erdin. Ever since I rembered that terrible incident, I’ve been less willing to bla you."
"But because I was seriously injured at the ti, I suffered from amnesia. Then, I finally rembered you when I saw Erdin’s face, which looked so much like yours, and I still have all our photos. Since then, I’ve been looking for you everywhere."
Her head lowered even further, her right hand groping for the diamond necklace still around her neck. She felt even more guilty because she had always blad Callum for never looking for her. Even though Callum had intended to look for her, too.
"So you’ve been looking for all this ti. How stupid of not to realize it."
"Actually, when my mories fully returned, I continued searching for you in various cities and abroad. But I had difficulty finding you, until finally I heard news that you were hidden in a remote hospital in a small town."
"But, why didn’t you co to at that ti?"
"When I heard the news, I imdiately went to the hospital. But I was too late. When I got there, they said you had already gone ho, and soone was coming to pick you up."
Hearing her lover’s story made her heart even more fragile. She couldn’t believe he would actually go this far; previously, she could only curse him relentlessly.
"Actually, I hadn’t given up looking for you. But when I heard your na was becoming more and more popular, I wanted to co to you in person."
"But, why don’t you do it?"
"Because I was worried you’d hate if I ca to you suddenly. You’d bla for causing all this ss."
Edith shook her head quickly, her arms tightening around her lover. "I won’t bla you. In fact, I’ve been waiting for you for a long ti. I know our accident wasn’t your fault."
"Actually, when I first saw you treating like a stranger, I was really shocked. Especially since you treated so coldly. At first, I wondered if I should just let you go. Maybe you’ll find a better man than ."
"No way. I don’t want to marry another man."
"Edith..."
"Instead, I’ll try to rember the beautiful monts I created before the accident. I also don’t like hanging out with Cliff, especially after finding out he was having an affair with Arabella. Luckily, I haven’t been stupid all this ti."
"Thank goodness. I thought you would still let yourself fall into Cliff’s trap."
"Of course, from now on I want to solve all the mysteries we have experienced so far."
"No way. This ti I won’t let you get into danger again. You’ve suffered for the past five years. Now it’s ti for to protect you."
Edith shook her head quickly. "It’s okay. I’ll be the one protecting you now."
"But, if sothing happens to you again? Don’t you think I’ll be hurt again seeing you suffer?"
"And you don’t even think about ? I couldn’t bear to let you face everything alone for five years."
Callum snapped his fingers for a mont. "Anyway, instead of dwelling on negative thoughts, how about we just have so fun tomorrow? I’m still not done playing with you."
Edith laughed sweetly, kissing her lover’s cheek for a few seconds. "Okay. Actually, I’ve been a bit tired lately from overworking myself."
’I rather don’t want to open up your past wounds, Edith.’
