Callum glared at the won bothering him now with a furious expression. Although they were all wearing masks, he could tell who they were just by their voices and body language. He was fed up with dealing with all the won his stepmother had tried to match him with over the years. Furthermore, all of them approached him only to exploit him. It was no wonder he was cold and cruel, given that none of them had ever respected him.
Only Edith had ever truly cherished him. Even though Edith had amnesia, he could feel the love she gave him now was still genuine. It was just that she hadn’t realized it yet and hadn’t dared to openly express her feelings. That’s why, to this day, he still held her hand tightly. He didn’t want to lose the woman he loved a second ti.
"How could you guess , even though I was wearing a mask all this ti?" Callum asked arrogantly.
"Because of all the n here, you’re the one with the most dashing physique. That’s why we recognized you so easily." Lucy’s gaze fell on the strange woman still holding Callum’s hand. "By the way, who is this woman? Haven’t you been rejecting us all this ti?"
"You don’t need to know."
"We should have the right to know because you rejected us for unreasonable reasons!" another woman shouted loudly enough for several VIP guests standing nearby to hear.
"I told you before, I don’t like you guys!"
"Then, what about that woman? Why do you want her to dance with you?"
"Because I feel like this woman is the one who deserves to dance with ."
"Did you guys have a one-night stand?" asked a strikingly dressed woman in a crimson dress.
Callum admitted he had Edith thanks to a one-night stand five years ago that resulted in her getting pregnant. However, that didn’t an he wanted to tell all these won the truth, which would ultimately ruin their relationship. After all, he’d been very attracted to Edith since they first t, before they slept together in the hotel. That’s why he’d slept with her without a second thought.
anwhile, Edith was starting to feel uncomfortable with the current situation. Was it true that her relationship with Callum started with a one-night stand? She still couldn’t rember all the monts from her past. However, she did recall her fight with Cliff and then being protected by Callum. For now, she remained silent and trusted Callum.
"I didn’t like you guys from the start because you weren’t my type. Why did you have to force to love you?"
"Then what about that woman? She looks even worse."
"Watch your words, Lucy! This woman is actually much better than you guys!"
"I’m actually still confused by your mindset, Callum. I don’t know how you found this woman. Whether you found her in a bar or a club, she’s still just a slut!"
Edith clenched her left fist tightly, truly unable to hold back her patience. She had never been subjected to such hurtful remarks before. However, that didn’t an she was easily swayed. Now she didn’t want Callum alone to face the sluts. She had to defend herself so he wouldn’t be bullied too.
"Haven’t you looked in the mirror?" Edith concluded.
"What?!" Lucy snapped, hands on her hips.
"If you dare to refuse, don’t you realize the mistakes you’ve made all this ti?"
"I don’t understand what you an! You’re just a mistress to satisfy Callum!"
"Watch your words, Lucy! I never thought of this woman as just a ans of satisfying my desires! I truly love her."
Edith’s heart was pounding hearing her lover’s declaration of love in front of many people.
Lucy laughed sarcastically, scratching her head in annoyance. "So, what about Arabella? Weren’t you two rumored to be engaged? Why are you dancing with another woman? It turns out you’re the one who likes to play with won’s hearts!"
Was Arabella really Callum’s fiancée? She felt uneasy because she rembered Arabella’s appearance was classier than hers and she even wanted to kiss Callum the last ti she visited him. If Arabella was really Callum’s fiancée, should she go back to Cliff? She really didn’t like being in the position of being a mistress.
"Since when have I been engaged to Arabella? Who did you hear this from?"
"Didn’t the rumors that were circulating say that you and Arabella were engaged?"
Callum burst out laughing and clapped his hands. "I applaud those of you who believe rumors without checking the facts first."
"So, you’re not engaged to Arabella? What a sha, she’s the perfect woman for you."
"You’re all wrong. Arabella isn’t the perfect woman for ." He held his lover’s tiny hand again. "But this woman is perfect for ."
"Callum, are you kidding?!"
"No. I never joke. In fact, this woman is my fiancée."
Edith’s eyes widened at her lover’s unexpected statent. Even though they’d only been together for a month, Callum already considered them engaged. Had he said those words to protect her?
"You will regret it if you marry that woman!"
"No way! In fact, I would be even happier if I married that woman."
Callum quickly walked away from the won, hand in hand with his girlfriend. He didn’t want her to feel even more uncomfortable being bullied by a strange woman. He even wanted to escape from this place, as it was making his chest feel so tight.
"Callum..."
Hearing his lover’s voice calling him, he stopped in his tracks quickly. "Sorry, I was just—"
"Thank you for protecting , Callum. I know you said that just now to get away from them."
"I never speak carelessly when it cos to love." His right hand slowly stroked her lover’s head. "We’ll continue our conversation at ho. If I stay here any longer, I’ll feel even more suffocated."
When Callum wanted to lead his lover out of the venue, he ran into his biggest enemy.
