Edith had expected Callum to be extrely possessive when she was sick. That’s why she’d been holding back her pain so he wouldn’t worry her too much. Even though she felt shivers running down her spine, she still didn’t want to show it openly. Furthermore, calling Erick just to prescribe special treatnt was going too far for Edith.
She imdiately stopped his fiancé from reaching for the phone beside the bed. "No need, Callum. I don’t want to bother him."
"But-"
"I want you to take care of , not him." Edith lowered her head. "I’m sorry, I’ve been pretending to be healthy in front of you lately so you wouldn’t worry about so much."
Initially, Callum wanted to scold his fiancée, but now he showed a sweet smile. His right hand stroked her warm forehead.
"It’s okay. I won’t scold you. Besides, I knew you would act like this because you used to be stubborn too."
Edith imdiately covered her face with the blanket. The mory of her forr, more stubborn self made her cheeks flush red. "You don’t need to remind of that embarrassing incident."
"In fact, now I want to get you so fever dicine and then I will let you sleep."
A few minutes later, Edith took so fever dicine and then lay back down in her fiancé’s arms. Even though she had a fever, her fiancé still wanted to hold her just to keep her warm.
"Are you still shivering now?"
Edith shook her head slowly. "It’s warm now."
"Thank goodness, I don’t want to talk to you right now. I want you to rest so your fever will be down by tomorrow."
In the end, Edith complied with her fiancé’s wishes. Less than half an hour later, they fell asleep, tightly embracing each other.
The next day, Callum woke up early to make breakfast for his family. Seeing his fiancée still sleeping like a baby, he wanted to enjoy the beautiful morning view before leaving the room. He stared at her beautiful face, so close to his, that his heart raced even faster.
He touched her soft forehead for a mont, touching his own as well. The feeling of her still-warm forehead made his lips pout again.
Slowly she turned around and wanted to get out of bed, but her fiancé’s hands were wrapped tightly around her waist, making it difficult for her to move.
"Callum..."
His eyes widened. Whether his fiancée was sleep-talking or not, he wanted to be sure. He turned back to her, who seed to still be asleep, and he breathed a sigh of relief.
"I’m going to make breakfast now. I didn’t want to wake you," he whispered, kissing her soft cheek for a few seconds.
Callum slowly released her embrace and got out of bed before his fiancée woke up. He walked out of the room to make breakfast first.
An hour passed when Callum entered the room carrying a tray containing two bowls of porridge, fever dicine, and two glasses of water. He placed the tray next to the bed and sat down next to his fiancée, who was still fast asleep.
His right hand gently stroked his fiancée’s forehead. He had expected her to oversleep without him, as she had been sleeping less than five hours a day lately. Watching her beloved fiancée, exhausted from work, sleeping so soundly, he couldn’t bear to wake her.
Her fiancé hugged her waist again, startling her. However, this ti, her fiancé slowly opened her eyes.
"Callum, what ti is it?" Edith asked, rubbing her eyes gently.
"At 8 o’clocks."
"What?" Edith imdiately glared at the clock on the wall and wanted to get out of bed. However, her body was now tightly embraced by her fiancé, making it difficult for her to move.
"Why are you in such a hurry? Today is still a holiday."
"But I-"
"Just rest for today. You still have a fever!" Callum took the thermoter and pointed it at his fiancée’s forehead. "Your temperature is 38 degrees Celsius. You need to stay in your room all day today."
Her lips imdiately pouted. "I actually wanted to play with you guys today."
Callum picked up the bowl of porridge and stirred it with soy sauce. "I made breakfast too. So you don’t have to worry about anything. The kids will know you’re sick, and they won’t whine."
Once again, Edith didn’t want to talk because she wanted to have fun with her fiancé today. Was she supposed to stay locked up in her room all day? Why did she always have so many problems?
"I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have pushed myself so hard earlier."
Instead of being angry, Callum smiled mischievously, tilting his head right in front of his fiancée’s tiny face. "I’m not going to scold you. In fact, I’m really worried about you because your fever hasn’t gone down since last night."
"I hope I’ll be better by tomorrow so I can go on a date with you again and play with the kids after school."
Callum scooped a spoonful of porridge and put it into his fiancée’s mouth. "If you were sick, I’d pray for your speedy recovery. I’d never scold you. Especially since you sleep less than five hours a day. If I were you, I’d probably feel the sa way."
"Callum..."
"Anyway, my job now is to take care of you with love until you fully recover." His lips landed on the sharp nose for a few seconds.
Edith’s reaction was a happy laugh, stroking her fiancé’s hand. "It’s rare to find a man as kind and understanding as you. Any other couple would be arguing, even in these circumstances."
"That’s why many people say that you should never get married if you find the wrong person."
"Like and Cliff, I almost married him."
"If you actually married him, I can hardly imagine it now. You’d be tortured by him every day." A weak sigh escaped her lips. "Or worse, you will be a victim of violence."
"That’s why I liked it five years ago when you proposed to when I was pregnant."
"I want to tell you that story again."
