The atmosphere in the room grew tense as Callum gave an answer that contradicted Zack’s wishes. Initially, Zack wanted to be friendly with Callum, but he didn’t expect Callum to know his plan. He had expected Callum to be difficult to defeat due to his highly intelligent and cunning mindset. That’s why Kevin had always used his intelligence solely to save the company.
"Why did you suddenly change your mind? Weren’t you so enthusiastic about investing in yesterday?"
"Now I have a question for you. How would you manage to keep your company going if I invested in you? Honestly, I’ve never invested in a startup before. That’s what makes hesitant."
"Didn’t I explain everything to you yesterday? My company is very promising because I’m developing AI technology."
"I still can’t invest because I’m still unsure whether your company has potential." Callum snapped his fingers. "How about this? I’ll think about it until I’m truly ready."
"Do you promise to invest in ? I really need money right now."
"In fact, I have to dig deeper into your information because I’m not the type of investor who imdiately invests without knowing the deeper background."
"Okay, I won’t force you to give an answer now. I definitely don’t like to wait too long."
"How long will it take you? I wouldn’t have thought about it for so long if you could have given a better proposal."
"So, are you sure you can give an answer today?"
"Of course. I’m also looking forward to being your lead investor, as this is my first ti investing in such an amazing startup."
Zack got up from his chair and turned around. "I’ll wait until tonight for your answer. Is that okay with you?"
"Isn’t that the normal way? You should give 24 hours to think about it. If I only think about it for 12 hours, I won’t be able to make a decision." Callum hugged Zack and patted his back. "Don’t worry, I won’t give you an answer that will disappoint you."
In the end, Zack left the room quickly. He was furious that his mission seed dood. Now he was thinking of another way to get Callum to beco his main investor. Whether he had to resort to violence or not, he was considering alternatives.
Now Callum and Patrick were left in the room, the atmosphere growing increasingly awkward. Callum smiled casually, staring at the door as he returned to his work. Patrick was actually curious about his boss’s plans, as he seed to not take the matter too seriously.
"Callum, are you okay with your answer earlier?"
"Actually, I was deliberately stalling to test it. I installed a tracking device earlier, too."
Patrick’s eyes widened. "Are you serious? How did you get that tracking device?"
"Jas once gave that tool. Of course I’ll put it to good use."
"By the way, is it true that you want to invest in him? It seems like it would be very detrintal to your future position."
"If I beco a commissioner, I’ll have to face the risks too. Besides, I don’t want to hold on to my position for too long."
Patrick rolled his eyes. "But everyone will look down on you, and your father won’t hesitate to hate you as much as he did before."
"I’ve actually discussed this with Edith. I’ll resign from my position when I’m ready. Edith has been very supportive of my decision, and now I just have to make sure I don’t disappoint her."
"But what are you going to do now? It turns out your father t Zack."
"For now, I’ll pretend I don’t know about this. I’ll reveal everything once I have enough evidence."
"Callum, if you need any help, you can ask . Renata and I can help you too."

anwhile, Edith and Renata were still busy working at the boutique. Edith was due to hold an event to promote her sumr products soon. Therefore, she was just as busy as Callum, barely resting. Because Callum had brought up her problem last night, Edith was worried that sothing would happen to him soon. She wasn’t focused on her work, and she almost accidentally pricked her index finger with a needle.
"Oh my God, Edith! Are you okay?" Renata imdiately grabbed the dical kit for her boss.
"I’m fine. I didn’t get pricked by a needle."
"You look like you need a break, Edith. You’ve been working all day at the office lately."
"Then, would you like to accompany shopping at the mall?"
Renata looked at the watch on her left wrist. "Right now?"
"I wanted to buy so fabric and get so fresh air. I’m actually bored of working here all the ti."
In the end, Renata accompanied her boss on a stroll through the shopping center. Every ti Edith entered a fabric store, she helped her select so high-quality fabrics that Edith liked. Besides buying raw materials, Edith also wanted to buy clothes for her children. She felt guilty for not playing with her twins much lately, and she wanted to give them a gift to calm their tantrums.
Having been around the shopping center for quite a while, Edith was carrying quite a lot of paper bags so Renata took the initiative to help carry the various paper bags.
"No need, Renata. I can carry it myself."
"I rember when you used to be stressed, you’d always take shopping. Ever since Callum ca along, you’ve always relied on him."
"I don’t want to rely on him anymore. He’s very busy with his work. If I keep bothering him, everyone will criticize him."
"By the way, are you sure you want to go down to the basent alone? You don’t need my help?"
"I want you to go to the fabric store we first visited. It seems like the fabric I bought isn’t enough."

Edith loaded all her groceries into her sedan. She was about to enter the mall when she suddenly encountered a man she didn’t recognize. She swallowed nervously as she tucked her car keys into her blazer pocket.
"Are you Edith? Callum’s wife?"
"Who are you really?"
"I’m Zack, an acquaintance of Callum’s."
