Cliff’s recollection of the accident he experienced five years ago left Callum unable to stand upright. As his body began to collapse, his fiancée thankfully caught him quickly. Now all he had was his beloved fiancée. No matter what Cliff had said, from then until now, he still found it hard to believe. Especially the fact that his father was truly the mastermind behind the accident, making him start to fear. Had his father actually placed him on the council just to harm him?
Callum still ordered the security guards to drag Cliff out of the room. He sat back down on the sofa, slumped, and clenched his fists.
"Callum..."
"I’m fine, Edith. Thank you for staying with ."
"But, do you believe what Cliff just said?" A heavy sigh escaped her lips. "Even though he’s your biological father, you should trust your own father more."
His right hand gripped his fiancée’s hand tightly. "Of all the people I’ve known in my life, I only trust you."
Her cheeks flushed red at her fiancé’s sweet words. "This isn’t the ti to be sweet-talking ."
"I’m serious about telling you this. I only trust you. If I didn’t trust you, why would I want to marry you?"
"Could it be that you already knew from the start that your father was the perpetrator?"
The atmosphere in the room grew tense again. Callum furrowed his brows and rested his chin on his hand. "I did suspect them before because I knew Cliff and Arabella wouldn’t go to such lengths. They’re so stupid to try to harm us."
"I thought you didn’t know anything, that’s why you’ve been keeping quiet all this ti."
"It’s precisely because I still don’t have strong evidence to prove my father is the perpetrator. That’s why I’m forced to keep quiet for now."
Edith also rested her chin on her hand. "Listening to Cliff earlier, I’m sure he has proof."
"No. He won’t be able to get that evidence."
"Why?"
"Because Cliff’s purpose in bringing that up so suddenly was just to provoke . He knew what I’d been after all this ti was the truth behind the accident."
Edith rested her head on her fiancé’s shoulder for a mont, relaxed. "I’ll help you find that evidence."
"Edith, I don’t want you getting into any more trouble. I want you to take care of our twins."
"Still, I don’t want you to do everything alone. I’m your fiancé, so it’s my right to help you."
"Are you sure it’s okay?"
"No way. In fact, I’d really like to help you." Her eyes kept blinking, making her lover’s smile widen.
"Okay, since you’re being so cute now, I won’t stop you from helping ."
"Besides, I’m the only one you can trust. If you ask soone else for help, can they be relied on?"
"Actually, I could ask Patrick for help."
Her lips imdiately curled into a pout. "I thought you only trusted ."
"I an-"
drrrt...drrrt...
Her phone vibrated in her blazer pocket, forcing Edith to postpone her conversation with her fiancé because it was her stepsister who was contacting her. She was curious about her stepsister’s sudden contact after so long. Was it related to the news that was currently circulating on social dia?
"What are you calling for?"
"Are you free now? My mom wants to talk to you."
Edith rolled her eyes and clenched her right fist. She had a bad feeling about this, as her own family disapproved of her relationship with Callum.
"Okay, I’ll go there now."
Edith imdiately ended the call and looked back at her fiancé, who looked listless. "Callum, I have to go ho to my family now."
"I will keep you company."
"No need. You should just stay here. Besides, nothing will happen to ."
For a mont, Callum pressed his lips to his fiancée’s cheek. "If you need , you should call right away."
"Of course, because you are the only person I trust the most in my life."

Edith was forced to enter her stepfamily’s elite building. She rarely entered this building, unless summoned for important business. Yet, she had never been treated like a human being simply because she was a stepdaughter. Therefore, she now simply obeyed her stepsister and stepmother’s orders rather than face further mistreatnt.
Edith entered the president’s office with a confident look. She sat on the sofa opposite her stepmother and stepsister. By now, she was ntally prepared for the rebuke, as the news was heating up on social dia.
"Is it true that you want to marry Callum? Why didn’t you learn your lesson earlier?" Vanessa, her stepmother, asked sharply.
"Because I really love him. I can’t marry anyone else, including Cliff."
Vanessa rolled her eyes. "But Cliff is better than Callum. We’d rather you marry him than Callum!"
A sly smile spread across his face. "Is it because Callum isn’t Cliff’s real brother?"
"If you’re sober, why did you call off your engagent to Cliff?" Vanessa stroked her chest gently. "When it cos to infidelity, everyone makes mistakes."
"You never understand how I feel! What Cliff did wasn’t just once, he did it over and over again, so I’m so sick of him!"
"But Cliff is Kevin’s biological son! Aren’t you thinking about your future?!"
"So, you’re telling to marry Cliff just because he’s superior to Callum?" Edith laughed awkwardly, glaring at her stepmother. "I’m warning you. Don’t ever underestimate Callum just because of this!"
"Actually, you two are very similar. You’re both illegitimate children who don’t know your place!"
"It’s precisely because we’re illegitimate children that he and I will protect each other. Why would I marry Cliff when he’s always playing with won?"
Yvette took a deep breath. "Edith, do you really love Callum?"
"Of course. I love him not because he’s an illegitimate child. I’ve loved him from the start. You can’t stop anymore. Everyone supports our marriage now."
Yvette was actually furious to hear her stepsister’s overconfident claims of loving a handso and perfect man. She actually liked Callum too.
