"Your sister?" Xifeng's steps paused, then she quickened her pace to catch up with Bei Yaoyue. "I've never heard you ntion having a sister?"
"Because she's not my biological sister." Bei Yaoyue looked straight ahead, "She's my uncle's daughter, my cousin. She's studying at university abroad and ca back this month for so business, temporarily staying at my house."
"Oh..." Xifeng nodded. No wonder she'd never heard anyone ntion her.
She and Bei Yaoyue were nominally adopted sisters, so since this was Bei Yaoyue's cousin, she would be her cousin too.
Because of Bei Yaoyue's existence, Xifeng was almost developing "sister PTSD" now. What used to be a very warm term had beco equivalent to monsters and demons in her mind.
Just as Xifeng was lost in thought, a small hand covered her eyes, accompanied by Bei Yaoyue's voice with a strange tone: "Don't look."
"What is it?" Xifeng asked curiously. She tried to see sothing through Bei Yaoyue's fingers, but wasn't successful—those slender fingers seed unusually thick now, blocking her vision completely.
"Nothing, let's go quickly." Bei Yaoyue urged, using her other hand to push Xifeng's body.
"What exactly is it?"
The more Bei Yaoyue didn't want her to see, the more curious Xifeng beca. Ignoring the obstruction, she forcefully pulled down Bei Yaoyue's hand covering her eyes. The scene that t her gaze made Xifeng extrely embarrassed.
In the distance, an orange cat was mounted over a small white cat, engaging in their mating ritual. From the white cat's mouth ca continuous low cries that sounded like weeping, unclear whether from pain or pleasure.
"I told you not to look." Bei Yaoyue couldn't help but complain from the side. Looking at such things, wasn't she afraid of dirtying her eyes?
"The more you tell not to, the more curious I get." Xifeng laughed awkwardly. Humans were curious creatures—when Bei Yaoyue said that, how could she possibly resist?
Watching those two cats mating without any care for onlookers, Xifeng suddenly thought being a cat might be nice too. You could cast aside all worries, live carefree, do whatever you wanted without caring about anyone else's opinions.
When hungry, find food; when tired, find sowhere to sleep; when your body gave out, find a quiet place to leave alone. Such a life seed pretty good too.
Seeing Xifeng staring entranced at the two cats doing naughty things, Bei Yaoyue smiled: "Do you like cats?"
She paused, her voice becoming sowhat teasing: "Or... do you like doing those kinds of things?"
"You're the one who likes doing those things." Xifeng curled her lips, giving Bei Yaoyue a disdainful look. This was probably what they called the thief crying "catch the thief." "As for cats... I guess I like them."
Her eyes flickered a few tis as Bei Yaoyue smiled aningfully: "Should we get a cat then?"
"In the apartnt?" After thinking silently for a while, Xifeng shook her head. "Better not."
If asked whether she liked them, Xifeng's answer was definitely yes. Who could resist such cute creatures?
Xifeng used to often play with friends' cats using cat teasers, watching the kitten work hard on its little legs, standing up and waving its paws, trying to catch that thing flying in the air. It was quite entertaining.
But if Xifeng had to keep a cat in the apartnt, she was absolutely unwilling. As soone with mild cleanliness obsession and severe OCD, she couldn't stand having her towels scratched full of loose threads by cats, much less coming ho to a house that slled like cat waste.
If she had a big yard, Xifeng would be happy to keep several cats. But in a unit apartnt... forget it.
"Besides, don't we already have a cat at ho?"
"Hm?" Bei Yaoyue looked confused.
"You." Xifeng lightly pinched Bei Yaoyue's waist, watching her suddenly jump away, and smiled: "Didn't you say you'd be my cat?"
"Don't forget, tigers are also felines." Rubbing her waist, Bei Yaoyue looked at her with a cold smile. "This 'cat' of mine can eat people. Do you want to be devoured by a few more tis?"
"You!"
Faced with Bei Yaoyue's teasing, Xifeng's cheeks reddened as she angrily twisted Bei Yaoyue's arm hard, making Bei Yaoyue grimace in pain.
Turning her head aside, Xifeng said quietly: "Can you ow for ?"
"ow what?"
"Cat sounds."
Bei Yaoyue froze. Making her imitate cat sounds—what kind of weird hobby was this?
Bei Yaoyue's obviously unwilling expression made Xifeng sowhat displeased. She pouted unhappily: "Making one cat sound isn't too much, right?"
You agreed to be my cat, but won't even make cat sounds?
"Very excessive." Bei Yaoyue nodded heavily.
"How is it excessive?"
"How is it not excessive?"
Seeing the hard approach wouldn't work, Xifeng changed tactics and decided to use cute charm.
She pinched her arm hard, helping her well-developed tear ducts create a layer of mist in her eyes, then put on a pitiful expression, looking at Bei Yaoyue with a voice that could move anyone to pity: "Bei Yaoyue, I want to hear you make cat sounds."
Bei Yaoyue remained silent, not knowing how to respond. She looked sideways at Xifeng, eting Xifeng's longing gaze, her crimson eyes seeming to sparkle with stars.
She sighed inwardly. If Xifeng really wanted to hear it... forget it.
"ow..."
A very rare pink color appeared on her face as Bei Yaoyue made an almost inaudible cat sound.
"What was that? I couldn't hear anything." Seeing Bei Yaoyue compromise, Xifeng's fake tears instantly vanished, her nose practically pointing skyward. "Louder."
Xifeng's attitude of taking advantage after getting her way made Bei Yaoyue slightly annoyed, but she still held her temper and spoke louder: "ow."
"That's more like it." Nodding pretentiously, Xifeng was about to reach out and pet Bei Yaoyue's head like petting a cat, but found that raising her hand only barely reached the top of Bei Yaoyue's head.
The image of reaching up high on tiptoes to pet soone's head was too weird, so Xifeng could only reluctantly withdraw her hand, once again ntally complaining about her embarrassing height.
Bei Yaoyue stared at Xifeng's smug back, slowly revealing a cold smile at the corner of her mouth.
You're making ow now, but later I'll make you pay back a hundredfold.
No... a thousandfold.
"I think you should change your na." Xifeng, walking ahead, turned back to say.
"Change it to what?"
"Bei Yao ow ow." Xifeng giggled behind her hand. "Doesn't it sound nice?"
She thought this na was actually pretty good, just a bit too two-dinsional and didn't quite match Bei Yaoyue's temperant.
She felt Bei Yaoyue was more like a proud, imperious lion looking down on the world, rather than a little cat acting cute in its owner's arms.
"Mm, it sounds nice." Answering without revealing her thoughts, Bei Yaoyue began calculating in her mind how to get back at Xifeng for this verbal advantage.
She wanted Xifeng to understand that trying to take advantage of her ca with a price.
