"Ian!"
When they returned to the Spring Palace, Elia was the first to seek out Ian.
"Yesterday, so monk ca looking for you, saying you perford a miracle..."
"I'm leaving."
Ian imdiately began packing his belongings.
The reason was simple.
He didn't want to get entangled with the monks...!
Ian knew all too well how persistent religious people could be.
If he got involved with them, they might follow him doggedly for years.
"You found what you were looking for."
"Yeah. Found everything."
Elia instinctively knew that Ian's affairs had concluded successfully.
Whatever it was. Ian would no longer remain in the south.
"Are you going back to Talian now?"
"That's right. Want to co along?"
"Yes!"
In truth, Elia had many responsibilities. Being an imperial princess wasn't just for show.
To help the Emperor prepare for the tournant, there was an enormous amount of work to be done.
Selecting the venue, sending letters, inviting nobles...
Though Elia wouldn't handle everything herself, she could assist the Emperor in various aspects, both large and small.
It wasn't a good ti for travel.
But Elia decided to squeeze out whatever free ti she had to follow Ian.
The reason was simple.
"I really wanted to see the wedding!"
She wanted to witness Ian's wedding.
"I'd be happy to have you there."
"Wait! Let pack my things!"
Before the monks could catch up, Ian planned to leave the Spring Palace.
He exchanged brief farewells with the Emperor and, while he was at it, said goodbye to Aesis as well.
As promised, Ian gave Aesis additional compensation.
Aesis promptly accepted and pocketed the treasure, as if he'd been waiting for it.
"Our first eting was terrible, but you've been one of the best employers I've had, Ian."
"You too, Aesis. If you keep living like this, you'll accomplish anything."
Ian shook hands lightly with Aesis.
Though they had t by chance on the road, they had ford an unexpected connection.
As Aesis said, their first eting was bad, but the ending was good.
"Let's et again soday."
"Wouldn't that be bad for both of us?"
Both n burst into laughter simultaneously.
They might et again soday, or they might never see each other again in their lifetis. And perhaps that would be better for Ian.
"Let's go, Ian!"
Elia called to Ian from a distance.
All business in the south had concluded.
Now... as promised, it was ti to return to Talian.
'Marriage.'
To beco a married man.

"Caw! Master!"
Oberon flapped his wings and landed on Ian's shoulder.
Ian naturally untied the letter attached to Oberon's leg.
"What's that?"
When Elia asked curiously, Ian explained casually.
"There's a priest I t before. He told to get in touch if I heard any news while passing through, so I've been sending ssages like this."
Ian had his own network of connections.
People he'd t on his travels, administrators and clergy he'd encountered in nobles' castles.
Human personalities varied widely; so buried fleeting encounters in their hearts and moved on, while others developed them into lifelong connections.
The priest who corresponded with Ian was just such a character.
Their first eting had been in the Devosi Barony.
After bonding with Ian over religious discussions, the priest occasionally sent letters inquiring after his well-being.
Since dieval letters were often delivered through temples and monasteries, he skillfully tracked(?) Ian's location and demonstrated the talent of firing direct ssages to him.
Thanks to this, Ian occasionally sent replies via Oberon.
"What does he say?"
Ian waved the letter as he answered.
"My brother doesn't want to get married."
"???"
Elia looked at Ian in surprise.
"You have a brother?!"
"I do. Though it's been more than ten years since I last saw him."
When Ian ntioned his brother, his companions gradually gathered around.
"Co to think of it, Ian hardly ever talks about his family."
"There's nothing to say."
It was true.
It wasn't that Ian disliked his family or anything like that.
There simply wasn't much to say.
He had left ho to beco a wizard's disciple when he was very young—
And after becoming an adult, he had been busy traveling the world.
But he hadn't completely cut ties with his family.
...Honestly, he almost had.
If not for the priest he'd t in the Devosi Barony.
"Will you tell us about your family?"
When Kira gently took Ian's hand and asked, Ian readily opened up.
"There's a priest I t in the Devosi Barony. After hearing about my family, he personally went to the Colbrun Barony to find them."
"That's impressive."
At the ti, Ian had casually shared his story.
Surprisingly... Ian's family history had tugged at the priest's heartstrings.
Separated from his family at a young age...
Then becoming a wanderer roaming the world as an adult!
How pitiful!
For Ian, who had unintentionally beco an object of sympathy, the priest resolved to serve as a connection between Ian and his family.
Had Ian known, he would have responded with a "Why bother?"
Like most common dieval families, Ian's family would live in the sa place until they died.
Especially since Ian's father had debts, making it impossible for him to move to another domain.
Ian thought he could visit anyti to see their faces and chat.
...To be honest, he hadn't visited because things were a bit awkward with his family.
"The priest has been looking after my family in various ways."
"He truly is a good person."
Ian answered with a bright smile.
The world was vast, with many good people in it.
That's why it's worth eting many people first.
Filter out the bad and strange ones, and stick with the good ones, right?
"Anyway, the priest has been teaching my brother how to write."
"Really? Why?"
"Apparently, my brother begged to send letters."
Moved by this touching familial love, the priest taught Ian's brother how to write.
He actually sent letters to Ian, and Ian replied.
However, due to the terrible state of dieval roads, they had only exchanged a few letters.
Just basic greetings, really.
"So before heading up to Talian, I want to stop by Colbrun once."
No one objected.
Ian's companions were all planning to attend his wedding anyway.
Since they were all veteran travelers, they didn't mind if the journey took a bit longer.
"Then shall we go through Colbrun to Talian?"
"Yeah."
"We won't be able to take a ship then."
For long-distance travel, ships were definitely a cheat code.
Unlike traveling by land, movent happened even while just sitting still.
That's why Ian often preferred ships.
"Is it okay if we take it slow?"
"...Sure!"
In truth, Elia wasn't really okay with it, but.
Fearing a response like 'Then go ho!', she kept quiet.
"Let's walk slowly then."
Ian traveled while engaging in various conversations with his companions.
As always.
Journeying with companions was never boring.
#
Besides the conversations, there was a decisive reason why Ian wasn't bored.
Naly, Kira and Maria.
"Well, shall we try again today?"
"Mmm..."
Kira and Maria sat demurely, looking at Ian.
Every night, Ian taught the two of them magic.
...Not a strange euphemism, but actual magic.
"Shall we start with Kira?"
"I'll give it a try."
Ian handed Anor-lsil to Kira.
The magic Kira was currently practicing was... Ian's [status window] magic.
Recently.
After completing Anor-lsil, Ian realized that his [unique magic] had beco much more powerful than before.
The cosmic power had resonated with Ian's ability to perceive mysteries.
Until now, the [status window] had functioned as a kind of buff.
When Ian set his mind to accomplish sothing—
It absorbed relevant knowledge from the universe and manifested before Ian's eyes in the form of a [status window].
Why a status window, of all things?
Well... simply because that's how Ian had imagined it.
As soone who had once been modern, Ian had a fascination with the phenonon of status windows appearing before his eyes.
At first, Ian thought the [status window] was a phenonon unique to him.
Ian had been a modern person, and the UI of a status window was familiar. So this was comfortable for him.
But what about dieval people?
It's incredibly difficult to explain status windows to people who don't even know what a com-puter is.
So Ian suggested that Kira and Maria imagine scrolls or magic books.
But...
"I don't quite get it."
"Imagining a book floating before my eyes... I understand the theory, but it's still too much for ."
Kira and Maria had cleanly conceded defeat.
Ian belatedly realized.
What he had asked them to do was essentially to create a new [unique magic] from scratch...!
Sothing that even the great wizard Maronius had barely accomplished.
No matter how talented the two won were in magic, they weren't anywhere near the level of a great wizard.
So Ian changed his strategy.
He had them recreate his ntal imagery.
The [status window] was a magical system Ian had already created.
They just needed to copy it.
"..."
Ian confronted so inner guilt.
Was it really right to teach [status windows] to dieval people?
It felt like changing a dieval fantasy setting into a common subculture world...!
But Ian decided to just go ahead with it.
Even the goddess had told Ian he could live however he pleased.
So why not!
"This is how I organize information."
Ian helped the two create [status windows].
A bizarre form that dieval people could never imagine on their own.
But with Ian providing detailed advice, the two won showed progress.
"...Huh?!"
After repeated ditation, Kira finally began to see sothing strange before her eyes.
"It's appearing! Ian!"
While they had failed to create status windows in the form of books or scrolls—
They had succeeded in visualizing the status window Ian had already made.
More precisely, it only worked while holding Anor-lsil.
"Anor-lsil is like a receiver of sorts."
"A receiver?"
"Or maybe like a channel..."
Ian held his head, trying desperately to explain sohow.
Trying to explain magic without any foundation from the ground up was giving him a headache!
"...Since I'm getting confused, let clarify the terminology first."
"Okay."
"The power Anor-lsil receives from beyond the universe. Let's call this [mana] for now."
He wasn't sure about the original terminology.
So Ian just borrowed familiar terms from Earth to explain the magical concepts.
"Anor-lsil is a [magic wand]."
"?"
Kira and Maria looked perplexed.
Calling a sword a magic? wand? Why on earth?
Having no knowledge of RPG gas, the two won didn't understand Ian's words at all.
But it didn't matter...!
As long as Ian the explainer understood!
This is definitely a [magic wand]!
"When you hold Anor-lsil, [mana] accumulates and the [status window] opens."
"Mmm..."
In short.
While holding Anor-lsil, both won could use the new magical system just like Ian.
"But Anor-lsil belongs to you, Ian."
Ian nodded.
"That's why once we return, I plan to make a few similar items."
"Similar items?"
"As I ntioned earlier, in the shape of wands."
Ian thought about it.
As evident from Kira and Maria's case... others could also use Ian's magic.
While Ian had created his unique magic by communicating with the universe without being taught.
Couldn't others simply follow and use the magic Ian had created?
If he could mass-produce [magic wands]...
'I could establish a new magical system.'
Enjoy the chappy!
