As the researchers tapped the control panel at the edge of the screen, colored smoke began to fill the chamber and obscure the monster.
Inhaling a heavy dose of gas laced with tranquilizers, the creature’s body gradually shrank—until eventually, it collapsed into a human form.

Etched into the side of his neck was a barcode, as if branding a product.
Just above it, clearly visible, were the letters: CXI.
He was a test subject.
This lab’s creation.
“Still won’t die, huh. Its durability is nearly at target spec...”
“If it doesn’t obey, it’s useless. Let’s dispose of it quickly—again.”
“Just more battle data to collect, huh... tsk.”
Hidden in the shadows, the researchers signed off on the digital docunt, officially issuing the disposal order.

FAILED SUBJECT
“Next target: City W.”
The man—was a failed experint.
