Lyra felt like she was not in reality. Her physical body was present in the Eagle tribe while her mind was wandering elsewhere. Alice’s lifeless head kept on appearing in her thoughts making her frustrated at the beginning but slowly numb. Why had this happened? Was Alice really dead? Because of her was she brutally murdered?
Her head spun and she felt dizzy with tiredness that washed over her like waves crashing into boulders. Alas, she was not so strong boulder that could withstand the waves, but a weak one. Lyra thought back on all the interactions she had with Alice. From the mont they t, it was clear that Alice hated her.....or it was more like she tried her hardest to hate her. What Lyra saw in Alice’s face when she slapped her and even when she tried to kill her was not loathing or, in a sense, hatred. It was more like Alice was desperate to sohow separate her from Kyrell’s life. Her reasoning for doing all this seed more focused on Kyrell.
Although that made Lyra not like Alice, she too didn’t outright hate or want her to die. Instead, she had wanted to talk to that woman. What made her so adamant and what drove her so much to despair that she risked her own safety in trying to fulfill it? She wanted to ask her about this. Then, in the end, she wanted to decide on a reasonable punishnt with Kyrell. Maybe Alice would have changed and decided to let go of her hatred towards Kyrell. Maybe...but this would never beco a reality now that she was dead.
Lyra had thought she had co to terms with the happenings in the beast world to a certain extent but that didn’t seem the case anymore. She was no fool; Lyra knew about her mates dueling males who wanted to court her and kill them if they were persistent even after getting defeated. At first, she was disturbed by the senseless killings but kept silent to not further intervene in matters that she didn’t know about. She didn’t want to say wrong things when she was in a world different from hers.
However, she could now see that Alice’s death was not what was common in this world. Heck even if it was common, Lyra didn’t think she could ever get used to it.
"I want to leave" She let out her desperate inner plea while looking up at her mates. She didn’t dare look at Xavier even once and only wished she could sohow get far away from this place.
"We will, sweet girl" She heard Victor vaguely say before she felt so kind of a bright light spreading around her. Then she closed her eyes and was getting pushed sowhere to only stop the next second. Her legs felt heavy, and she felt frozen in place. Sothing cold crept up her legs, making her unable to move. And when she opened her eyes in confusion, she saw sothing that made her face go pale.
Dual-colored eyes resembling devil’s stared deeply at her, "You are not going anywhere, not until you tell what I did wrong. I really don’t know.....please tell "
"You bastard!" Lyra heard soone shout and felt soone else pulling her away from Xavier, "Stay fucking away from her!"
Lyra felt like a rag doll as she was pushed and pulled around but had no ti to react before she felt a familiar voice whispering into her ear, "You will be safe, bunny"
"Kai?" A feeble voice left her lips and as a reply, she felt a nuzzle against the crook of her neck. Lyra closed her eyes in complete trust in her amazing lover and could sense moving sowhere. Kaizer had opened his own portal to take her away.
Xavier looked in anger as his pretty female disappeared leaving a void at the end both to his eyes as well as to his heart. A discomforting feeling he had never before felt squeezed his heart making him waver. She left him, just like that. Without even looking at him once before doing so. What wrong did he do that she just left him like that? Was killing the one who tried to kill her wrong? Why were they all behaving like he committed so kind of sin? If what he did was indeed a sin then Xavier didn’t care. He did what he had to do to keep his pretty female safe. Nothing more or nothing else. He was sure that she would co to understand it one or the other day. He did what her mates had to do and failed miserably.
"You are going to pay for this, blonde bastard," Xavier said while looking at Kyrell. But the latter remained nonchalant, "Shut your mouth, you creepy bastard." Kyrell was feeling anxious not having Lyra by his side. His anxiety has seed to increase regarding her because of Alice’s fiasco.
"Enough with that," Killian said as Kenna disappeared from his side, "I don’t know what really happend but Kyrell...my mate was right. You didn’t betray her after all" Evidence was right in front of everybody’s eyes. Even though Alice died, Kyrell didn’t seem the least affected, and that ant that they had never mated. So kind of huge misunderstanding has happened which they needed to clear.
"Leave this Fox bastard, we must go to our mate. He is not worth our ti." Even he had not killed any females from his tribe when he had gone out of his way to erase the black panther tribe.
Victor agreed, "Who do you think you are? You killed that female because of our mate? Don’t joke with ; you are a sadistic bastard who must get high on killing defenseless females. This is not your first ti after all"
Noah looked uncomfortable with the situation while Lucas showed his displeasure blatantly, "Never co near our mate again, I may be not powerful enough to stop you but my tribe will show yours hell if you cross the line"
Demir, on the other side, unlike others, remained silent while he studied the Fox king. No matter how he saw it, the latter was weird, and that too in a bad way. Every ti he t Xavier, Demir had felt uneasy. Darcio had once warned him about staying away from the Fox king and he was surprisingly adamant about it. Maybe he also felt the Fox King to be a weirdo?
Blake had a hard ti controlling his bloodlust but he did so because this was not the mont to indulge in his problems. Everyone was either threatening or berating the Fox King, but Blake did neither. Because it didn’t seem like Xavier gave even an ounce of importance to what they said. His gaze looked far away as though trying to find his Lilly and that made Blake clench his fists. He did not like Xavier’s interest in their mate.
"Let us leave," he said, "It’s not like he can find Kaizer anyway"
Xavier chuckled, "Don’t be sure Blake. There is nothing that I can’t do"
"We will see about that" Blake dismissed him and turned to Killian, "Can you open your portal?"
The latter nodded before doing so. Xavier had a smirk hanging on his lips as he watched his rivals step through the portal and disappear.
"Noah?" He called the last one, "You know better than anyone. If I really put my mind to it, Your mate will beco mine in a fortnight"
"Don’t touch my mate, Xavier," Noah said through his gritted teeth, but a little part of him feared Xavier’s capability.
Xavier shook his head as his smirk turned into a grin, "No no, I will not touch her. She will be the one to touch , you will see. She will beco mine and mine alone. I do not share what is mine"
