Lyra felt her heart clench the more she listened and as soon as he finished talking, She leaned and hugged him while rubbing his back soothingly.
"I’m sorry" Only these words ca out of her mouth after a long ti. She was not sure what she ant by it. Was she sorry for the life he had led? Or was she apologizing for his childhood self who had to pay for his parents’ wrongdoings?
She also tried putting herself in Demir’s mother’s place. What would she have done if she had to stay in a relationship because of a child? Lyra was no saint. She had to admit that, she would feel sad and bitter in that kind of situation. But hurting a child who did nothing wrong? She would never do that. Maybe, she would have taken the child and run away from such a man.
But she knew that not everyone was the sa as her. Demir’s mother blad the child for her misfortunes, which was absolutely fine. Lyra could understand that woman. In this matter, one could not conclude whether soone is good or bad. At the end of the day, everyone had their own problems and solved them as they deed right.
Yet, for now, Lyra decided to bla Demir’s parents. Maybe, this was because Demir is close to her. He didn’t deserve the things they did to him.
"I’m very sorry, you had to go through sothing like that," She said and felt his arms tighten around her waist, "I will not ask you to forget everything right this mont. But I promise that you will have only good mories from now on. I will make sure of that"
Demir felt his eyes sting with unshed tears. He didn’t want to cry during this mont because it felt wrong to do so. This instant with his beloved female made him the happiest he had ever been in all his life. To shed his tears now felt wrong to him.
’’Thank you’’ he uttered and hugged her tighter. He was thanking her for choosing to stay with him who was so broken on the inside. A knowing smile adorned his lips as he knew that she would scold him for having bad thoughts about himself. But he couldn’t stop thinking like this because the one he loves is perfect unlike him. She was beautiful and kind. knew how to say perfect words to everyone without hurting their feelings. He fully knows that he got lucky in eting soone like her.
As two love birds continued to hug each other without a care in the world, it was not the sa for their surrounding. Lucas who was sitting beside his mother wanted to storm toward them and pull his mate away from that despicable scorpion but before he could do that, the wolf queen pulled her son’s hand stopping his movent.
’’Where do you think you are going? Don’t disturb their alone ti. Look how cute they are’’
Lucas felt his mouth twitch in annoyance at his mother’s grinning face. His mother’s eyes were literally twinkling in mirth as she gazed at Lyra and Demir hugging. For a minute he doubted if she was really his mother.
anwhile, on the other side, Noah was also experiencing sothing similar but his mother was lecturing him to learn a few tricks from Demir. She was saying that he didn’t know enough to beco his mate’s favorite.
Noah wanted to refute his mother by reminding her of sothing she seed to have forgotten. Firstly, unlike Demir, Noah already mated with his female and also had cubs with her. And as for becoming her favorite, he was fulfilled with his position now. His mate loved him plenty according to him.
Whereas, Blake, Victor, and kyrell who were still on the plaza clearly saw Lyra and Demir being intimate.
Blake had to admit that he felt bitter seeing the woman he loved with soone else but he held himself back as always and turned away.
Victor clenched his jaw and closed his eyes before turning away. It would not hurt if he didn’t see it.
Kyrell frowned in displeasure. He thought that he would be alright with her having other males as long as he is one of them, but.....why did it hurt so much for him to see it with his own eyes?
Even amidst all of this chaos inside their minds, they were mindful enough to not act on it. They suppressed their rage because of their mate but soone else had a different idea in his mind and that resulted in sothing bizarre. The entire plaza and grounds of the banquet started to get covered in freezing ice. The fire that was lit to make the bonfires extinguished due to the freezing ice wrapping it.
The once banquet that was filled with warmth and joy ca to a sudden halt and instead beca cold and hushed. The few who knew about the one responsible for this looked towards the plaza. Their eyes particularly fell on the one sitting on top of the throne.
’’Your majesty?’’ a witch master of the fox tribe dared to ask for him to only close his mouth before taking a step back the next second. The harsh glare that he received terrified him to no end. King Xavier looked like soone who was ready to kill.
’’What is up with him?’’ Victor who couldn’t hold himself asked.
Blake shrugged his shoulders before walking down the plaza. The fire was gone and that ant that his mate would feel cold in no ti. She was not like a beastn who did not feel cold, so it was his job to take care of her. The thing going on with the fox king had nothing to do with him.
After a brief pause, everyone started to murmur about the sudden phenonon. Only a selected few who knew about Xavier’s powers and looked at him in confusion.
The new king had his head lowered with his fists tightly clenched. He resembled a feral beast trying its hard to suppress its blood lust. The elders wore disappointed faces as they glanced at Lexi as though asking for an explanation. They wanted to know what was going on.
Lexi on the receiving end of those criticizing gazes felt like crying. She didn’t know what was wrong with her brother. It was not like she asked him to freeze the entire place.
Still, she tried to go toward her brother but it seed impossible because the air surrounding him was filled with mystical powers. She had never seen her brother using his powers in the past, but admitted that it was nacing now that she looked at it. No one with a sane mind would talk to him right now.
Still, she had no other option and parted her lips, "Brother. What are you doing? This is your day, please don’t ruin it"
Xavier who stayed quiet until now raised his head. As soon as he released his clenched fists, the ice surrounding the banquet started to lt rapidly.
The fox guards took this on a cue and got on with relighting the bonfires.
