??Chapter 564: Chapter 516: You Go First

Chapter 564: Chapter 516: You Go First

Sfevora Manor.

The banquet hall.

Nine magnificent crystal chandeliers hung from the do, and the spacious hall was filled with long tables draped in white cloth, laden with delicious delicacies, fine wines, and fruits.

Several pet beasts, clad in work attire, were tirelessly delivering food and drinks to the tables.

Familiar guests gathered in small groups, either sitting around sofas or standing by the dining tables, chatting rrily and enjoying the sumptuous feast.

The belle of the ball, Felice, was dressed in a red gown, adorned with exquisite jewelry, a faint smile on her face, basking in the praise of those around her.

“Miss Felice, at such a young age, has unlocked the second page of the Beast Taming Codex. I doubt you’d find many like her in the entire Third District.”

“I heard that various Pet Beast Bases have brought a plethora of exceptionally talented pet beasts for Miss Felice to choose from.”

“Lady Mara is truly good to Miss Felice.”

At that mont, a pet beast, led by soone in a work uniform, entered the hall with three youths.

As the trio walked in, the gaze of the guests in the inner hall fixed on the pet beast cradled in the arms of the black-haired girl.

“Isn’t that Miss Yuna? How co she has a friend who’s carrying a pet beast inside?” said soone next to Felice.

Felice glanced at the pet beast in the black-haired girl’s arms and frowned.

Qiao Sang approached the table, casually picked up a pastry, and handed it to Yaobao.

“Ya!”

Yaobao clawed at it, then lowered its head and rrily gobbled it up.

“Which one’s your sister?” Qiao Sang asked.

“The one in the red dress,” Yuna hinted with a glance toward the front right.

Tang Yi asked, “Aren’t you going to go over?”

“No need,” Yuna laughed. “She and I don’t get along.”

Tang Yi looked puzzled for a mont and blurted out, “Why not?”

For what else could it be? In big families, it’s always that sa old reason for siblings not getting along… Qiao Sang looked over with a gossip-hungry gaze.

Yuna was silent for a mont before saying, “She and I don’t share the sa father.”

Qiao Sang: “!!!”

Honestly, she had imagined many reasons, but she had never expected this one!

Tang Yi’s pupils contracted, clearly shocked as well.

Yuna continued:

“My mother and father had an arranged marriage; they amicably divorced later on, and after that, my mother married Felice’s father.”

“You an, your mother was the one to ‘marry’ him,” Qiao Sang said, looking dumbfounded at Yuna. “Marry?”

Yuna was at first puzzled, unsure why this was confusing, but then she rembered that Qiao Sang ca from Blue Star and explained:

“Here on Chao Su Star, we value strength, so the one who is a higher-level Beast Tar is the one to ‘marry,’ as they are better providers.”

Qiao Sang imdiately perked up, “What if one is a Coordination Master and the other a Professional Beast Tar, but both are of the sa level?”

Yuna laughed, “Coordination Masters are all flash and no substance. How can their strength compare to that of a Professional Beast Tar? Of course, the Professional Beast Tar would be the marrying party.”

“No wonder they say Chao Su Star has the most Professional Beast Tars,” Tang Yi remarked.

“The prevalence of Professional Beast Tars is mainly because there are so many wild pet beasts around,” Yuna explained. “It has little to do with marriage. Being the marrying party implies greater responsibility; not everyone wants to be in that role.”

Qiao Sang thought to herself, this was quite enlightening.

At this ti, the lights went out, and a spotlight shone on a high platform.

A man walked up, followed by a small, quadrupedal pet beast with three tails that resembled a fox.

“It’s starting,” whispered Yuna, looking at the stage. “Most people here at the banquet actually co for the pet beast showcase. All the major Pet Beast Bases will bring their most talented pet beasts. Even though Felice gets first pick, the remaining beasts are rare sights.”

“If you see any pet beasts you’d like to contract, let

know and I can have soone reserve them.”

Qiao Sang felt moved. She didn’t recognize most of Chao Su Star’s pet beasts and would have had to rely on online opinions to make a choice. Now, she had the opportunity to pick from the best, with soone offering guidance, which was incredibly exciting.

The man on the stage began his introduction: “This Jue Ice Fox can exhale breath at minus 50 degrees.”

“Jue Jue!”

The Jue Ice Fox cooperated perfectly, breathing out an icy blast.

“Now that it is six months old, it has already learned how to use Charge, Snow Flurry, Frost Wind, and Ice Fang,” the man said.

With each skill he ntioned, the Jue Ice Fox demonstrated it.

“It also possesses two special traits: Frozen Body and Perpetual Purity,” the man continued.

Qiao Sang was taken aback, thinking to herself no wonder this Jue Ice Fox had been brought over by the Pet Beast Base.

Perpetual Purity ant it wouldn’t have its abilities reduced by an opponent’s skills or traits, which was quite rare among pet beasts.

At that mont, a white bird-like pet beast ca onto the stage. It wasn’t there to perform but to flap its wings at the Jue Ice Fox, releasing several Air Blades.

“Jue Jue!”

The Jue Ice Fox let out a painful cry and was knocked back several ters.

“What’s going on?” Qiao Sang frowned and asked.

“To demonstrate the trait,” Yuna explained.

No sooner had she finished speaking when the white bird-like pet beast on stage flapped its wings vigorously, sending a small flurry of snowflakes suddenly falling down.

The snow fell onto the Jue Ice Fox.

“Jue Jue!”

It quickly stood up, energetically crying out.

The man exclaid loudly, “As everyone can see, this Jue Ice Fox has remarkable recovery abilities. We preliminarily assess its Frozen Body trait to be at A level!”

An A-level Frozen Body… The only pet beast with an A-level trait she had encountered was Song Xinyue’s Fire Heat Bird… Suddenly, Qiao Sang turned to look at Yuna.

“Do you want this Jue Ice Fox?” Yuna guessed, seeing Qiao Sang looking at her.

“No, I was wondering where the restroom is.”

Yuna: “…”

Qiao Sang headed in the direction of the restroom.

Along the way, passersby turned their gaze on her and Yaobao.

“Ya…”

Yaobao sighed.

This place is so boring, training would be better.

Qiao Sang laughed and said, “We’ve been training all day, aren’t you tired yet?”

“Ya Ya.”

Yaobao waved its paw; Lubao had already cast Healing Light and Healing Sound Wave on it, so it couldn’t possibly be tired.

Qiao Sang was sowhat surprised, “You two are getting along so well now?”

In the past, Lubao would heal Yaobao only after she said so, but now Lubao was initiating the healing even when she wasn’t around.

“Ya Ya?”

Yaobao had a puzzled look. Weren’t its relations with Lubao always good?

Qiao Sang: “…”

What a mory, have you forgotten how you two used to fight every day…

Suddenly, a voice arose ahead:

“What’s the matter, how could such a mistake happen on such an important day!”

Qiao Sang looked in the direction of the voice and saw a middle-aged man sternly speaking to several pet beasts in work attire:

“You go look over there; keep it down, don’t disturb the guests.”

Qiao Sang walked past without much curiosity, as what mattered most now was using the restroom.

“Wait for

outside,” she said to Yaobao as they reached the bathroom entrance and placed it on the ground.

“Ya.” Yaobao nodded.

Qiao Sang entered the bathroom and just as she pushed open the door, she locked eyes with a small bird-like pet beast with red eyes and purple feathers, looking as if it were enveloped in a layer of armor.

“Just now…” The bird-like pet beast showed a wary expression.

After locking eyes for two seconds, Qiao Sang promptly closed the restroom door with a “snap”: “You go first.”
