Chapter 268: Chapter 256: Stone Shatter Striking thod
There’s a saying online that’s quite accurate: if Beast Tars make eye contact, nine tis out of ten, they are looking for a battle.
To satisfy Yaobao’s desire to battle, Qiao Sang’s gaze deliberately followed the Beast Tar of the Ice Glint Bear, seeking to establish eye contact with her.
The Beast Tar of the Ice Glint Bear wasn’t hard to find.
Though the arena was spacious, there were only a handful of Beast Tars inside, and they were each positioned quite far apart. Within ten ters of the Ice Glint Bear, there was only one person: a woman in her early twenties, with long, straight black hair and a sowhat delicate appearance.
It was clear that this person was the Beast Tar of the Ice Glint Bear.
Usually, people feel it when soone is staring at them, but despite Qiao Sang’s minute-long stare, the woman didn’t notice at all.
Qiao Sang had no choice but to step forward and ask, “Hello, are you interested in having a battle?”
“Yaobao!” Yaobao also called out to the Ice Glint Bear, full of battle intent, at that mont.
The Ice Glint Bear glanced at Yaobao but ignored him, continuing to practice on its own.
Yaobao: “…”
The woman squinted at Qiao Sang, then took out a pair of glasses from her crossbody bag and put them on.
So she was nearsighted, no wonder there had been no response earlier… Qiao Sang thought inwardly.
The woman looked at Qiao Sang and then at Yaobao before taking out a business card from her bag and handing it over, saying, “Sure, but my sparring sessions are booked until a week from now. You can schedule a ti with
for the week after next.”
Qiao Sang took the business card and saw:
Hongying Beast Battle Club, Senior Sparring Partner, Zhang Jie.
The first thought that crossed Qiao Sang’s mind was: We’re both sparring partners, so how co I don’t have a business card?!
The second thought was: From the sound of it, she took
for a custor, but it’s true that sparring with soone usually costs money, so there’s nothing wrong with that.
With this in mind, Qiao Sang asked, “May I know how much you charge per hour?”
“Ten thousand Alliance Currency. You’ve made it in here, so you must be a sparring partner too,” the woman said. “Since we’re colleagues, I’ll give you a 10% discount.”
Qiao Sang thanked her.
With the current balance in her bank card, she didn’t really need the discount, but hardly anyone can resist the charm of a discount.
…
Qiao Sang took Yaobao to the spot she had had her eye on before.
“Xun~” The Treasure-seeking Ghost appeared on its own, taking out an Energy Recovery Potion from the ring and handing it to Yaobao.
“Drink so of this to recover first, you’ve been flying for quite a while,” Qiao Sang said to Yaobao.
“Yaobao.”
Yaobao nodded and used telekinesis to open the Energy Recovery Potion, pouring it into its mouth.
Though expensive, the effect of the Energy Recovery Potion was imdiate and real, restoring Yaobao instantly to peak condition.
Qiao Sang placed her backpack in front of her and opened it; Shuilu Yana leaped out in an instant, standing beside Yaobao.
“Here’s what we’ll do,” Qiao Sang said to her three Pet Beasts in front of her. “Yaobao, you use Shadow Clone to practice Mars Rain, and use telekinesis with your main body to control the stones on the ground and attack Shuilu Yana.”
“Shuilu Yana, you’re to try dodging the stones. I’ll place a pencil on Yaobao, and your task is to get past the stones, attack, and grab the pencil from Yaobao’s body.
“Xiao Xunbao, keep on splitting tiles as usual, but increase the number to 15 at a ti. When you get tired, use telekinesis just like Yaobao to control the stones and attack Shuilu Yana.”
Yaobao and Xiao Xunbao’s training was always clear-cut.
Qiao Sang’s training plan for Shuilu Yana was to advance the Healing Light to Mystique level and to work on basic physical conditioning.
Water-type Pet Beasts generally didn’t move as fast on land as they did in water.
It wasn’t that Qiao Sang wanted Shuilu Yana to be proficient in everything. It’s just that in so larger competitions, the terrain for each battle is random; it was unlikely to always be so fortunate as to encounter a water terrain.
If they announced the terrain before the summoning of Pet Beasts, then it would be manageable, but if the competition rules require sending out Pet Beasts before revealing the terrain, Shuilu Yana would most likely be at a disadvantage.
After all, there aren’t many venues where a Water-type Pet Beast can fully unleash its strength.
The Stone Shatter Striking thod can train one’s reaction ability and movent speed, as well as strengthen the body.
Another point is that it can temper Shuilu Yana’s willpower.
After all, faced with a bunch of flying stones, a normal junior pet beast would typically run instinctively to a side without stones, rather than moving and dodging ahead amidst the risking of being hit by stones at any mont.
Even if Shuilu Yana’s speed isn’t up to par and couldn’t adapt for a while, the stones were controlled by psychic powers, so she could always have Yaobao stop the stones or change the attack speed at any ti.
This was also a good opportunity for Yaobao to improve his proficiency in telekinesis.
Most importantly, training together might just boost the bonding sky-high.
A multitude of benefits, simply perfect.
As for healing, with the Energy Recovery Potion and the Super Tier Skill ‘Healing Light,’ one could theoretically train for an eternally long ti… That’s an exaggeration, train until one is utterly exhausted.
Qiao Sang thought ideally, but reality was brutally harsh.
After all, Yaobao was only a mid-level Pet Beast. Besides having to use ‘Shadow Clone’ to train ‘Mars Rain,’ a skill that consus a great deal of energy, he also had to use telekinesis to control large swathes of stone, which simply wasn’t sustainable energy-wise.
Qiao Sang roughly estimated that Yaobao needed to drink a third of a bottle of Energy Recovery Potion every five minutes.
If this kept up, forget training eternally long; they’d probably have to head ho after two hours…
Fortunately, her pet beasts were all devoted to training, offering Qiao Sang so psychological comfort.
It’s such a relief to have undemanding pet beasts.
Shuilu Yana perford much better than she expected… Qiao Sang shifted her gaze to Shuilu Yana.
Much of Yaobao’s energy was consud in practicing ‘Mars Rain’ with ‘Doppelgangers,’ resulting in a limited amount of stones he could control, but it was more than enough for Shuilu Yana, who was small in size and still at a junior level.
Instead of instinctively shrinking away from the continuously flying stones, Shuilu Yana charged forward and accelerated its pace.
While dodging, it wasn’t that no stones hit it, but Shuilu Yana seed as if it felt no pain, with its expression not changing in the slightest.
After watching for a while, Qiao Sang suddenly realized she was wrong.
Perhaps having been injured many tis, and reaching Completion in ‘Healing Light,’ Shuilu Yana’s body likely didn’t need further strength training…
“Xun~”
At that mont, the little Treasure-seeking Ghost floated over and showed her its paws, wearing an “I’m tired” expression.
Its gaze, however, kept sneaking peeks at Yaobao controlling the stones to strike at Shuilu Yana.
That looks fun! It wanted to play with that!
Qiao Sang took out her phone and saw that only 17 minutes of training ti had passed…
She put her phone back in her pocket and said, “Xiao Xunbao, if you’re tired from splitting tiles, you can train hypnotism. There should be ants around here, and I rember you telling
how much you wanted to evolve.”
“If you don’t put in the effort, Shuilu Yana might evolve before you do.”
Little Treasure-seeking Ghost initially didn’t care because it thought Shuilu Yana was an old-tir.
But it had been hiding next to Qiao Sang and naturally heard her conversation with Liu Yao, realizing that Shuilu Yana was in fact only seven months old, not much different from itself, and still a youngster.
“Xun!”
The little Treasure-seeking Ghost beca anxious.
It was unacceptable for soone of a similar age to evolve before it!
It imdiately skimd the ground in search of practice targets for its hypnotism skill.
Because Qiao Sang chose a spot that was quite far from the other advanced trainers, the constant assault of ‘Mars Rain’ by Yaobao’s doppelg??ngers and the sound of explosions limited her senses.
This resulted in her being completely unaware that all the advanced trainers in the field had been staring in her direction with wide eyes for a good ten minutes or more.
ps: Let’s set the flag again; I’ll add an extra chapter soti this week…
