The beeping sound lasted for a few seconds before the call was connected. A mature male voice asked:
“Who is this?”
“Hello, I took on the assessnt task to enter the Secret Realm and bring back the missing Liu Bo. The information here says you were tead up with him when you entered the Secret Realm. I was wondering if you could go back into the Secret Realm with , to the spot where he went missing, and help
find him,” Qiao Sang said, getting straight to the point.
The other end hesitated for a mont. “What rank Beast Tar are you?”
Qiao Sang replied, “C-rank.”
“Not going,” Qu Yang imdiately rejected without a second thought. “I got injured the last ti I went into the Secret Realm and am still recovering.”
Are you kidding ? A C-rank Beast Tar. He was also a C-rank Beast Tar, yet he didn’t even notice when a teammate disappeared in the Secret Realm.
So you ask about my rank first, then say you’re injured. Is this just an excuse because you think my rank is too low? Qiao Sang thought sarcastically and said, “I have a Pet Beast that happens to have healing skills. It can help treat your injuries.”
“No need,” Qu Yang refused. “I’m already healed. I’m just recuperating now.”
After a pause, he added, “Even though I can’t go into the Secret Realm with you, I can describe what happened back then.”
Qiao Sang didn’t press further. “Alright, go ahead.”
Qu Yang recalled the events and said in a deep voice:
“After entering the Secret Realm, we headed southwest. On the third day, we found a Water Pond and camped next to it for the night. That night, Liu Bo was on guard duty. When we woke up the next day, he was gone.”
“Later, we searched nearby and found only his distress signal about a kiloter away.”
Guard duty, disappearing… sounds similar to that disappearance incident ntioned in the post… Qiao Sang pondered for a mont and asked:
“Did you hear anything unusual that night?”
“Nothing,” Qu Yang said. “We didn’t hear a single thing.”
Before Qiao Sang could speak, Qu Yang’s tone grew serious as he shared his conjecture:
“Actually, that wasn’t normal. In the Secret Realm, we always stayed on high alert, sleeping very lightly. Plus, my Pet Beast was outside at the ti. It’s an Eardrop Cat and can hear anything within five kiloters. Even the slightest movent would wake it, yet that night, it didn’t hear anything and slept deeply.”
It was definitely a wild Pet Beast using hypnosis skills… Qiao Sang thought to himself.
“But there’s one thing I don’t understand,” Qu Yang continued. “Why didn’t the wild Pet Beast target us but only took Liu Bo?”
Qiao Sang asked, “Were you all inside tents at the ti?”
Qu Yang was montarily stunned, seemingly not expecting that question. He replied with a hint of confusion:
“Of course not. With so many wild Pet Beasts in the Secret Realm, being in a tent would make it impossible to see the surroundings imdiately upon waking. It would be dangerous if we were attacked suddenly. Haven’t you been to a Secret Realm before?”
That doesn’t make sense. Taking on an assessnt task ans you’re preparing for the regional competition. A Beast Tar participating in the regional competition couldn’t not have been to the Secret Realm before.
Actually, I have never been to the Secret Realm… Qiao Sang said, “I understand now. Thank you for telling
all this.”
Qu Yang imdiately forgot about the tent matter and said solemnly, “I hope you can find Liu Bo.”
Although the chances are slim, to be honest.
Soone missing for a week in the Secret Realm—how could they possibly still be safe and sound…
“I will,” Qiao Sang said.
Qu Yang said no more and ended the call.
Qiao Sang then dialed another number.
After just one “beep,” the call was answered.
“Who is this?” A lifeless voice spoke from the speaker.
“Hello, I took on the assessnt task for the regional competition…” Qiao Sang briefly explained the situation and then asked, “Can you accompany
to the 88th Secret Realm to look for Liu Bo?”
“You should ask soone nad Qu Yang instead,” Yuan Jiewen replied with the sa flat tone. “He was friends with Liu Bo. I was only part of a temporary team with them in the Secret Realm.”
Qiao Sang was silent for a mont. “You sound like you’re not in great shape. Are you sick?”
Yuan Jiewen went quiet at the unexpected concern and replied, “I got injured last ti I was in the Secret Realm.”
“My Pet Beast has healing skills. It can treat your injuries,” Qiao Sang offered.
Yuan Jiewen chuckled mockingly. “So you heal , and then I go into the Secret Realm with you just to get hurt again?”
Qiao Sang said, “The healing skill my Pet Beast uses is Healing Light.”
