"Pig eggs?" Si Yan and the four little ones simultaneously shot their unreliable father a look of disgust.
Xi Qing shook his head. "Our father is too unreliable."
The four little ones looked at each other, feeling helpless.
Sigh. In their father’s eyes, there was truly only their mother; the four of them, plus these two Dragon Eggs, were all just a damn accident.
The indifferent attitude of their father seed to infuriate the hatchlings inside the eggs.
From within the purple eggshell, a tiny, pinkish-purple little dragon foot aggressively kicked its way out of the egg!
The four little ones’ eyes lit up with excitent.
"Hey, hey, that was a great kick!"
"This one must be a little brother, right? Right? Right!" they exclaid, full of anticipation.
"Great! I’m not the youngest anymore! I’m going to be a big brother!"
Si Yan and the four little ones crowded around the edge of the Dragon Nest, their eyes sparkling as they stared at the two Dragon Eggs inside.
Dongchi touched the golden egg. "This one is a sister. This one is our little sister. Little sister, little sister, I’m your big brother, Si Dongchi. You have to work hard to break out of the egg, alright?"
Nan Mo silently cheered, Little brother, hang in there! Little sister, hang in there! I’m your second brother, Si Nan Mo. You both have to keep pushing!
Xi Qing said, "Little brother and sister, I’m your third brother, Si Xiqing. I’m the best and gentlest brother, you know."
Bei Ji declared, "No, I am! I’m Si Beiji, your fourth brother! I’m fourth brother!"
CRACK! The golden egg also showed a fissure.
The eyes of Si Yan and the four little ones lit up simultaneously, their wide eyes full of anticipation as they stared at the eggs.
"So impressive!" Bei Ji, impatient, reached out to help.
Nan Mo imdiately pulled Bei Ji’s small hand away, shaking his head. Helping wasn’t allowed.
Bei Ji paused, then nodded imdiately. No helping, no helping. The little brother and sister have to crawl out of the eggs themselves.
The purple egg stirred more noticeably. The little creature inside turned around and used its tiny, pink nose to push at the spot where its foot had kicked before. It pushed hard, pushed hard, and finally, the crack in the eggshell widened a bit more.
The four little ones were ecstatic.
Bei Ji squatted, his little face red as if he too were exerting himself.
"Push, push! Co on, co on! You’ll be the fifth if you co out soon!"
The little dragon in the purple egg seed to hear its older brother’s calls from outside. Determined to be the older one, it pushed even harder.
The little nose and feet that erged from the eggshell were just too small and tender.
Dongchi’s eyes reddened slightly. He looked up at Si Yan. "Mother, our little brother is so small and tender. Is he too weak to survive?"
Si Yan tapped his head. "Who are you looking down on? This is your brother."
Nan Mo also wondered expectantly, What will it eat? Does it eat at? Should I go hunting?
Si Yan murmured, "It... drinks milk, right?"
Si Yan was a bit baffled. She didn’t seem to have any breast milk? Oh no, how was she supposed to feed them?! With this thought, Si Yan imdiately rushed to a corner of the cave and squeezed. Nothing! No breast milk! Oh!
Although Dongchi and the others were her first litter, she didn’t rember much about that ti. Giving birth to these two dragon hatchlings felt more like her first ti being a mother.
Even if the sky were falling, she wouldn’t panic. But now, Si Yan was visibly flustered.
The Snake Beastman paused, then quickly went over to stop her from prodding herself, pulling her beast-skin skirt back up. His eyes narrowed dangerously. It’s better this way, no breast milk, he thought. He didn’t want to share his treasure with the cubs at all!
He spoke calmly, "The Dragon Clan is a bit different. Dragon Eggs need to incubate for six months before they hatch, and during this ti, most female dragons don’t produce milk. Moreover, Dragon Clan hatchlings have teeth as soon as they are born and can eat at imdiately."
"Is that really the case?" Si Yan was still a bit worried.
The four little ones were utterly speechless. What kind of Beastman can eat at right after birth? Father’s intentions couldn’t be more obvious! Our poor little brother and sister, having such a father.
Her mate shot a stern glance at the two eggs. You’d better eat at as soon as you’re born. You’ll eat it whether you want to or not!
Then, he withdrew his gaze, his expression changing in an instant.
He gently stroked her head, his lips curving upward. "Really. Don’t worry, dragon hatchlings are easy to raise."
The Dragon Clan are high-level Beastn, after all. Maybe they really can eat at as soon as they are born. Her mate probably knew a bit more about this than she did.
After thinking it over, Si Yan felt that her mate’s words made sense.
She cald down and went over to the Dragon Eggs. "Dear, look, the little purple cub has already cracked its shell a lot, but the golden egg still only has one crack."
Inside the purple egg, the little one turned around again, stretching out a hind leg, followed by its long tail.
After testing the size of the crack, it realized it still couldn’t get out and retracted its leg and tail.
The four little ones watched with great fascination.
"Little Five," one of them called out, "the hole isn’t big enough! You need to make it bigger!"
After they spoke, they saw the little one inside the egg turn another circle, and then, a cute, big eye appeared at the hole.
Its eyes, just like her mate’s, were a deep purple, and the intricate patterns within its violet pupils were incredibly beautiful.
It blinked. After seeing the familiar-slling people outside, it turned again, trying to push through the shell with its little mouth.
The first eting between mother and child, father and child, and among siblings, happened so suddenly.
All the Beastn present were stunned for a mont, then beca even more excited.
"They’re coming out! This ti they’re really going to hatch!"
Just then, the golden egg also stirred. The shell bulged slightly, and a tiny, pinkish-golden foot kicked out.
The four little ones imdiately shifted their attention, watching both the golden and the purple eggs.
The one in the purple egg was clearly putting in more effort.
It stretched out two small front paws, broke the eggshell with its claws, and then grabbed pieces of the shell, stuffing them into its mouth.
Si Yan was startled. "Dear, it’s eating the eggshell! Can it eat eggshells?"
The shell was so hard. It was already remarkable that a newborn dragon hatchling could eat at; could it really chew on eggshells?
Her mate was also a bit unsure. After thinking for a mont, he said, "It should be alright, I suppose."
He wasn’t too familiar with the Dragon Clan himself. He’d have to ask Jin Tong and the others about this, but none of them were here.
After observing for a while, her mate said, "It ate the eggshell without any issues. Since it can eat them, there shouldn’t be a problem."
Si Yan watched the hatchling worriedly. She couldn’t see its whole form but noticed the shell diminishing bit by bit.
Then, the greedy little purple cub inside was revealed. Its two chubby little paws clutched pieces of eggshell. Its head was round and plump, its cheeks puffing out as it gnawed on the shell. Then, it let out a loud BURP.
...
Everyone fell silent for a mont.
Si Yan’s heart lted. So cute! Just ridiculously adorable!
Two adult Beastn, four little cubs, and the tiny dragon hatchling—still holding a piece of eggshell, burping, its eyes darting around—all turned their attention to the golden egg.
The purple dragon hatchling thought, I ca out first, so I must be Little Five! The one in front of must be the youngest. She’s definitely little sister, Little Six!
