The first martial competition had co to an end, and the Witch Doctors from both sides were actively entering the arena.
Since the rfolk Clan had surrendered too quickly, there were no injuries.
Witch Doctor Yin Xiu hastened forward, looked at the pitiable old fox Beastman, and sighed, "Are you alright?"
The old fox was in a good mood and chuckled, "I’m fine, thank you for checking on ."
Si Yan and the old fox made eye contact.
The old fox imdiately beca contrite. "Master, I’m sorry, A’ye was useless."
Suddenly, Si Yan smiled. "It doesn’t matter."
If they couldn’t find out this ti, there would be a next ti. If it turned out that A’ye was innocent, she would apologize to him and compensate him for his losses. But if A’ye was Si Jie... She, as a person, tended to be rciful. However, she would never easily forgive those who had betrayed her! He had betrayed her. If she could kill him once, she could kill him a second ti!
"Si Yan, who do you think will win?" The voice of the Silver Wolf Beastman, Tai Seng, brought Si Yan back to her senses. "The Beastn from Barren City live in the desert, and every one of them fights as if their life depends on it. White Tiger City might not necessarily win."
Wang Dao and Jin Tong also returned to her side.
The rain began to pour down, heavier than during the previous Wisen’s Grand Competition.
The Snake Beastman took a large leaf from She Chuan to shelter Si Yan from the rain, looking up at the sky with a slight frown. A heavy rain is about to fall; it seems the rainy season might co early.
He lowered his head and said softly to Si Yan, "Baby, a heavy rain is on its way."
Si Yan lifted her head. "How heavy?"
The Snake Beastman replied, "By nightfall, floods may occur."
Si Yan fell silent. The heavy rains in the Beast World were far from ordinary; she had experienced them firsthand during her ti with the Yanxiang Tribe.
The Snake Beastman patiently explained, "There’s no competition for us today. You might catch a cold if you get rained on; we should head back first."
Si Yan nodded and then turned to look at the other Beastn.
The four cubs looked at her with soft, pleading expressions.
Dongchi Dao said, "Mother, we want to watch them fight. Can we stay here?"
All four were eager to beco stronger soon—the battles of strong Beastn were undoubtedly precious combat experience for them.
Si Yan nodded. The other males probably want to watch the fight as well, she thought. So, she said to Tai Seng and the others, "You stay here with the cubs to watch the competition and tell the results when you return. Jin Tong, observe their weaknesses closely."
Tai Seng, Jin Tong, and the other male Beastn eagerly agreed. "Alright, Si Yan, don’t worry."
The Snake Beastman carefully picked up his little female, and the spectators quickly made way for them, watching as they left.
Looking at the rain, Si Yan asked, "Wang, will the rain keep getting heavier and continue to fall?"
She Wang replied, "After the light rain season cos the heavy rain season, and the rain will get heavier."
Si Yan curiously asked, "What will the heavy rain season be like?"
The Snake Beastman quietly answered, "Areas with low water levels will be subrged. Then, the Beastn will want to move to the mountaintops. The water level of Myriad Beasts City is high, so it’s usually not flooded. However..."
After looking at the sky, the Snake Beastman felt a sense of alarm. This rain is very sudden. I don’t know if the Beastn will have enough ti to take shelter.
The Delusional Tavern was located on the edge of Myriad Beasts City. In the Beast World, the so-called "city" designation was mostly related to the number of Beastn gathered. Although Myriad Beasts City was called a "city," it didn’t have standard city walls like those of ancient tis.
The periphery of the city was loosely enclosed by large stones, and beyond the stones lay a wide, shallow river.
During the recent Scorching Days, the river water had almost completely evaporated. With the arrival of the light rain season, a thin layer of water had returned. However, in places where the sandy terrain was higher, a stony path that people could cross still existed.
Sotis, seeking a shortcut, Beastn would not take the long way around but would instead cross this stony path.
On her way back to the tavern, the rain indeed grew heavier.
I wonder if High Priest Bai Feng has issued flood warnings to all the tribes, Si Yan thought. I hope the smaller tribes in low-lying areas can find safety in ti.
WHOOSH! The rain poured down, as if the sky had broken open and water was tumbling out in buckets!
The high terrain of Myriad Beasts City ant that the water inside the city spread out to the river, and the river water, in turn, created a backflow!
Unfortunately, the sandy path was exactly where the water level was low.
The downpour, though brief, destroyed the sandy path in an instant.
Several Beastn hurrying back along the path were swept away by the water in the blink of an eye.
"Help!!"
"Help!!!"
Most of the strong Beastn of Myriad Beasts City were out in the rain watching the competition, leaving very few male Beastn wandering around the city.
Across the river were the old Beastn and cubs of Myriad Beasts City.
They weren’t strong and could only pick so Red Earth Fruits close to Myriad Beasts City to supplent their household inco.
When Si Yan arrived at the Delusional Tavern, she looked at the potholes and uneven ground in front of it.
I need to dig a small canal to divert the water, she thought. That way, the water will have a place to drain and won’t affect the tavern.
Just as she was about to enter, she faintly heard desperate cries and wails from afar.
"Save us! Please save the cubs! Save my child!!"
"Help! Grandfather can’t get across! Grandfather is still there!"
"Quick, go find soone!"
"The water is rising so fast! It’s rising too fast! They’re all in the city, and it would take us so long to run there. There’s no ti for a round trip!"
Si Yan stopped in her tracks. "Wang. Did you hear the voices outside? Is soone calling for help?"
A trace of impatience flashed across the Snake Beastman’s eyes at the cries for help from outside.
Although his ’evil’ tendencies had been sowhat reined in, it didn’t an he had any interest in saving people.
The Snake Beastman turned his head to look at the rain and changed the subject. "Baby, you should rest now."
Old Gecko crawled out of Si Yan’s space. This incident has nothing to do with the Heavenly Book or her destiny. What will she do?
Si Yan grabbed the Snake Beastman’s hand. I know he’s worried.
"Let’s go take a look," she said. "If we can help, we will. If we can’t, I won’t insist. Is that okay?"
The Snake Beastman’s brow furrowed.
Si Yan tugged on his hand, shaking it gently. She looked up at him with her clear, dark eyes, adorably asking, "Is it okay? Please? I promise, I promise I’ll only try to rescue people if I can ensure our own safety. I won’t be reckless. Please? Is it okay?"
The Snake Beastman gazed with a complex expression at the small female coaxing him.
After a mont, he folded several large leaves, wrapped them around her like a raincoat, then scooped her up in his arms and plunged into the vast curtain of rain.
They reached the place where the river was backflowing.
Si Yan saw that the previously shallow river was now swift and violent, and the small island where the elders and cubs were stranded on the other side was shrinking rapidly.
The Beastn who had managed to cross the river were crying out to those on the opposite bank, so weeping so heartbreakingly it was as if they were trying to move heaven and earth.
Si Yan inquired and learned that quite a few Beastn had already been washed away by the river. Whether those swept away were alive or dead was impossible to tell.
But the surviving Beastn on the other bank... we have to try our best to save them, she resolved.
Si Yan asked, "Can you bring them across?"
The Snake Beastman frowned. "I cannot."
It wasn’t that he couldn’t. If Si Yan were on the other bank, he would brave a mountain of daggers or a sea of flas to reach her. But he didn’t know the Beastn on the other side, and Si Yan, pregnant, had only him for protection. He would not leave her. Even if Si Yan commanded him, he would never abandon her to save others.
"Look, everyone! It’s the Wisewoman! It’s Si Yan, the Wisewoman from the Delusional Domain!"
"It’s the Wisewoman!"
"The Wisewoman has co!"
"I know her! It’s Wisewoman Si Yan!"
"Wisewoman, please help! My grandson is on the other side! I’ll kowtow to you! I’m kowtowing to you now!"
