He was a bad person, after all, and especially cruel to females.

Si Yan’s lips tightened.

Si Yan, oh Si Yan, you can’t be soft-hearted. If you’re soft-hearted, you might end up buried in the ground by him.

After feeding the cat, tidying up the herbs, and having her dinner, she looked at the sky again.

How annoying, this damp weather is so uncomfortable.

Will there be an earthquake tonight? She rembered Bai Feng ntioning that torrential rain would continue for three days around the ti of an earthquake.

She returned to her bed in the mountain cave and covered herself with a beast skin.

But she couldn’t fall asleep, no matter how much she tossed and turned.

The rain was heavy, and the thunder in the sky was so loud it was unsettling.

She could almost see that small snake beastman in the rain. He was weak and defenseless, unable to fight back as he was beaten by several eagle beastn. He pitifully sought shelter from the rain, watching the lightning strike outside, while the rain soaked his wounds, causing him so much pain that he passed out. He might even develop a fever. He might die.

Suddenly, Si Yan sat up and looked back to see the little black cat was already sound asleep.

There are things that might be regretted after being done. But there are things that you will definitely regret if you don’t do them.

She grabbed the large leaf at the cave entrance, held it above her head, and ran out into the rain.

She had walked the path behind White Eagle City almost every day recently and was very familiar with it.

But the heavy rain made the ground especially slippery, and she fell twice along the way, which was a bit embarrassing.

Finally, she found the place where she had encountered that cold-blooded snake beastman during the day. She looked around but could not find the little snake beastman.

He probably left, she thought. It’s good that he left; then I wouldn’t have to hesitate about whether to bring him into White Eagle City or not.

Even though she had fallen a few tis, and a cold sensation on her leg suggested the skin was broken and bleeding, she was also rather disheveled. But seeing that the snake that had disturbed her sleep was gone, her mood lightened sowhat. It felt like she had thrown off a heavy load.

However, it was probably fate playing a joke when, at that mont, Si Yan heard a hissing sound behind her.

"Are you looking for ?"

Si Yan turned around quickly and indeed saw the slim, injured, purple, cold-blooded snake beastman from the dayti.

The cold-blooded snake beastman looked at her, his cool brows slightly furrowed.

He was already pitiful, but how co she looks even more miserable than him?

Si Yan said in surprise, "You didn’t leave?"

The snake beastman said, "I wanted to leave, but I couldn’t."

The snake beastman looked at the sky. "It won’t be long before the earthquake."

Si Yan was surprised. He can actually predict the timing of an earthquake?

The snake beastman asked her, "What are you doing here?"

He didn’t believe she was here to offer him shelter; after all, she didn’t choose to do so during the day, and would be even less likely to at night. So he didn’t understand. What is she doing here?

Si Yan also stared at the snake beastman in front of her.

He’s a bad person. His very existence will lead to the death of many beastn. So he deserves to die. But, right now, none of these things have happened. His hands aren’t yet stained with so much blood. Does he deserve to die now? My brain isn’t big enough to figure out the crucial point here.

However, she did co up with a very good way to deal with the current situation.

"You want to enter White Eagle City, right?" Si Yan asked.

The snake beastman nodded.

Si Yan said, "I can help you."

The snake beastman’s purple eyes glinted coldly as he looked at her.

"You’ll help ?"

Si Yan said, "I am the High Priest’s disciple, so I know there will be an earthquake soon. After the earthquake, there will be plague and famine. Many beastn will die outside then."

The snake beastman said, "So?"

Si Yan said, "So, for you right now, White Eagle City is the safest place. You need ."

She was right.

He had indeed thought so.

Si Yan suddenly managed a slight smile.

"Seeking refuge in White Eagle City isn’t that simple," she said.

The snake beastman observed her. She looks so soft and weak, just an ordinary little female. If I made a move, I could probably take her life very quickly. But taking her life would be of no benefit to at all.

"What are your conditions?" the snake beastman asked coldly.

Si Yan looked at this future villain, this future antagonist.

If I’m to spare his life, I need the ans to control him. I have to manage him, make him listen to . Prevent him from becoming a bad person. So...

Si Yan looked at him and said, "Beco my Guardian Beast. As long as you have the guardian’s mark, I’ll have a reason to keep you in White Eagle City. The beastn of the city won’t expel you either."

"How about it, are you willing?"

The snake beastman’s eyes were very cold as he looked at her.

Becoming a Guardian Beast ans a low status. She’ll have the right to control completely, while I won’t be able to affect her in the slightest. This is no different from selling myself into servitude.

Si Yan asked again, "Are you willing?"

The snake beastman said, "Do I have a choice?"

Si Yan also looked at him.

One was only six years old, the other only nine. They were both just young cubs.

And yet, in this exchange, they showed a maturity beyond their years.

The snake beastman slowly knelt. He looked at her with a cold expression. "Your na."

"Si Yan."

Without any hesitation, he said, "From now on, I, Wang, shall beco Si Yan’s Guardian Beast."

In front of She Wang, a short distance from his heart, a white totem began to form.

But on Si Yan’s body, there was no change at all.

The guardianship contract was established so simply.

The snake beastman looked at the totem on his chest. An uncolored white totem represented a Guardian Beast, and this white totem was a peculiar shape he had never seen before.

After a mont’s thought, he concealed the totem.

Si Yan was also seeing a guardian totem for the first ti. After her initial amazent, she looked at the snake beastman.

Even though no totem had appeared on her own body, she sohow no longer found him as cold or frightening.

The rules and totem marks of the Beast World are truly miraculous!

Si Yan asked, "What is your na?"

The snake beastman replied, "Wang."

"Just one character?"

"Mm."

"Wang... Which Wang is that?"

The cold-blooded snake beastman said indifferently, "The ’Wang’ from ’arrogance,’ the ’Wang’ from ’vain hope,’ the ’Wang’ from ’reckless daring.’ Whichever ’Wang’ you want it to be."

Si Yan understood.

The snake beastman looked at the sky and said, "We need to go. If we don’t leave now, it might be too late."

Si Yan understood what he ant. "I’ll lead the way," she said.

She hadn’t walked more than a few steps when the snake beastman, in his half-beast form, slithered up beside her. He wrapped an arm around her waist and said, "You give directions. This will be faster."

Si Yan found herself being carried swiftly along by the serpent, their speed remarkable.

She looked at him, sowhat surprised. Only when he glanced back at her did Si Yan snap back to her senses.

"Let’s head towards White Eagle City first," Si Yan said.

The snake beastman carried Si Yan all the way to White Eagle City. Along the way, even when they encountered beastn from White Eagle City, no one stopped them after seeing Si Yan.

Not long after they smoothly entered the city, the sky itself seed to change. It turned a black so deep it couldn’t be any blacker, and a terrifying sensation descended, as though the heavens themselves were about to collapse.

Then, the ground shook and the mountains trembled.
