Leaning against the headboard, Ye Xiangting smiled softly.
Finally, this kid rembered to call ...
“Tomorrow morning at 9:20, but we have to gather at school by 7:30.” Qiao Sang answered.
The competition ti and location were confird today after the pet beast health checks were completed. The coach had promptly issued the notice.
Individual and team battles for grades one through three of high school would all take place at the sa location.
However, coordination groups, despite competing at the sa school, had a different venue.
“Gather at 7:30?” Ye Xiangting glanced at the ti on her phone, put it back to her ear, and said, “Then why aren’t you sleeping yet? It’s almost 11:00.”
Qiao Sang chuckled. “I wanted to call you first.”
Ye Xiangting held back a smile, maintaining the tone of a stern mother.
“Go to sleep now, or you’ll end up late tomorrow.”
“Got it.” Qiao Sang replied, about to hang up.
“Wait!” Just as the call was about to end, Ye Xiangting suddenly called out.
“What is it?” Qiao Sang put the phone back to her ear.
“Where’s the competition? Can parents co to watch?” Ye Xiangting asked.
“It’s at the Pet Beast Training Base in Xihuai District.” Qiao Sang replied after a mont of thought.
“I’m not sure about parents. If you want to co, I can ask the teacher.”
“No need. The store just opened, and I don’t have ti to go.”
Ye Xiangting paused, then added, “But try to last as long as you can in the competition. Who knows, I might be able to drop by one day.”
“Sure.” Qiao Sang chuckled.
“I’ll do my best to last until you can co watch.”
After hanging up, Ye Xiangting looked delighted.
She instinctively opened her contact list, wanting to call everyone she knew, but stopped when she realized the ti, it was late, and so people might already be asleep.
After thinking for a mont, she opened the family group chat and tagged everyone.
[Was about to sleep, but my daughter’s call woke up. Who else isn’t asleep yet?]
Second Sister-in-Law was the first to reply:
[Xiangting, doesn’t your Qiao Sang still go to school? How co she has her phone with her?]
Gotcha!
Ye Xiangting’s eyes lit up. Without hesitation, she opened Second Sister-in-Law’s chat and called her directly.
“Second Sister-in-Law, still awake? Great! I can’t sleep either, so I thought I’d chat. Qiao Sang has a competition tomorrow, you know, the National Campus Beast Mastering League. Have you heard of it?”
anwhile, as a mber of the family group, Qiao Sang stared at the chat log showing her mother tagging everyone, Second Aunt replying, and both suddenly disappearing from the group. She was speechless for a long mont.
One second of silence for Second Aunt.

October 27th - Sunny
Because of the early gathering ti, Yabao, Qiao Sang’s pet beast, was usually still asleep at this hour.
To ensure Yabao was in good condition, Qiao Sang finished her morning routine, donned her school uniform, and walked to the school gate alone.
At this hour, two buses were parked outside Shengshui High School.
One bus was for the battle group, and the other was for the coordination group.
Around the buses, school team mbers huddled in groups, chatting with middle-aged adults, likely their parents.
Besides the buses, several private cars and so rare, high-level pet beasts that were uncommon around the school could be seen. These belonged to the families of the team mbers.
Walking up to the bus for the battle group, Qiao Sang was about to board when a familiar voice called out to her.
Turning, she saw her mother beaming at her, with a plump fat dove pet beast fluttering its wings beside her.
“Mom? What are you doing here?” Qiao Sang asked, surprised.
“Woke up early and couldn’t sleep. Figured I’d co see you off since I had nothing else to do.” Ye Xiangting said with a smile.
Just say you wanted to send off, Qiao Sang thought warmly, then teased, “Didn’t you say the store is busy since it just opened? Shouldn’t you have a lot to do?”
“The store opens at nine, and it’s only seven. I’ll have plenty of ti to get back. If I couldn’t make it, I wouldn’t have co.” Ye Xiangting said matter-of-factly.
Qiao Sang: ...
“By the way, have you eaten yet?” Ye Xiangting asked.
Of course I have! Though it was early, she’d grabbed a piece of bread on the way. Noticing the bag in her mother’s hand,
Qiao Sang paused and shook her head. “No, I haven’t.”
“Perfect.” Ye Xiangting handed over the bag with a gentle smile.
“I made sothing you like this morning. You can eat it on the bus.”
“Mm.” Qiao Sang accepted it with a nod.

Xihuai District, Pet Beast Training Base
The Pet Beast Training Base is a multi-functional facility combining lodging, dining, training, competitions, and even vacation anities.
Nearly 70% of the teams participating in national competitions have spent ti here.
Unlike Beastmaster Centers, this base caters specifically to young students and requires governnt approval for entry.
When Qiao Sang got off the bus, she saw the parking lot was already packed with buses labeled with various school nas, over 40 in total.
Each bus represented a school, aning over 40 schools were participating in today’s preliminaries.
Just then, Xu Yixuan tugged on Qiao Sang’s sleeve.
“What’s up?” Qiao Sang asked.
“Look, it’s Yicheng Beastmaster High School.” Xu Yixuan pointed at a group of students wearing blue-and-white uniforms.
Qiao Sang followed her gaze.
After yesterday’s health checks, the coach had not only inford them of the competition ti and location but also shared their group assignnt.
Shengshui High was placed in Group A2. Among their opponents, Yicheng Beastmaster High School was the most prominent na.
Though only a county-level school, Yicheng High’s reputation rivaled so city-level schools, with its high college admission rates.
In last year’s National Campus Beast Mastering League, one of its Grade 11 students had even made it to the province’s top 24.
That Grade 11 student was now in Grade 12.
Glancing briefly at the group, Qiao Sang lost interest and turned away.
Her focus was on defeating Fiqi Beastmaster High.
Other schools could wait until they crossed paths.

The Xihuai District training base had 22 competition arenas in total.
Grades 10 through 12 were separated and assigned different arenas.
For Group A2, Grade 12’s matches were in Area C.
The audience seats around Area C were slowly filling with school leaders, coaches, and dia reporters.
“Principal, what are you doing here?!” Sun Boyi exclaid in surprise.
Principal Wang chuckled.
“How could I miss the annual National Campus Beast Mastering League? By the way, where’s Qiao Sang?”
