In the Battle Arena, waiting for the system to randomly assign an opponent was one mode of battle, but it did not an that it was the only mode available in the Battle Arena.
Many Beast Tars did not want to wait or needed to find specific opponents to train certain skills of their beasts; in such cases, they would choose a mode of battle where they could select their opponent.
This was the purpose of having sparring partners for battles.
Sparring partners in the Battle Arena were full-ti Beast Tars hired specifically to face visiting clients and engage in battles with them.
Of course, this choice was not compulsory; if facing an undesirable opponent, such as one who would overpower them drastically or suppress their abilities with superior attributes, the sparring partners could also refuse to battle.
Being able to train through battle and earn a substantial inco made the job of a sparring partner highly sought after, but it had certain requirents; the pet beast had to be at least stronger than average among its peers to qualify.
