"Whimper~~" (Xiao Chen, make so cola chicken wings!)
Xiao Jiu demanded with a huffing tone.
"Pff!"
Looking at Xiao Jiu’s aloof face, Chen Mo couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
"Whimper!" (Be serious!)
Xiao Jiu extended its paw, showing a slight annoyance.
"Alright, alright."
Chen Mo nodded repeatedly.
He hadn’t noticed before, but Jiu Bao seed to enjoy cosplay quite a bit.
After rehearsing their swapped roles for a while, they wouldn’t easily give themselves away when officially playing them tomorrow.
Before heading back to his room, Chen Mo asked one more question:
"Captain Liu, when do we set off?"
"Tomorrow morning. We’ll first go to et Zhou Hong, the City Lord of Golden City. He will introduce us to the Night Dream Cat," Liu Guo’an said with a smile.
"Xiao Mo, last ti you saved his life, he’s been looking for an opportunity to repay you!"
——————————
The next morning.
After Thunder Team got their gear from the Equipnt Departnt, they set off on their journey.
"Everyone, get on up!"
After leaving the company, Chen Mo summoned the Isolated Island Spirit.
Having gotten used to riding the Isolated Island Spirit, he found regular thods like horseback riding way too primitive.
"Whoo—"
The Star Sea floated mid-air, emitting a vast whale song that seed as if it ca from an ancient beast.
Seeing the Star Sea fly was nothing new for the mbers of Thunder Team. Science couldn’t explain it; it was considered a natural talent.
The Isolated Island Spirit was fast, and in less than half a day, they had already arrived at Golden City.
City Lord Zhou Hong and his Spiritual Beast, the Lion Tiger Beast, waited at the gate early in the morning upon hearing of Chen Mo and the others’ arrival.
"Roar!"
The Lion Tiger Beast let out an excited growl upon seeing Chen Mo. It trotted over and leaped into Chen Mo’s arms, nuzzling his hand with its furry head as if greeting an old friend after a long ti.
Chen Mo was the life-saving benefactor of it and its own Spirit Master.
After so ti healing, the wounds on the Lion Tiger Beast had recovered, and its body had grown sturdier. However, its foundations were ultimately damaged, which greatly affected its potential.
Chen Mo subconsciously stroked the Lion Tiger Beast’s mane, finding the furry touch extrely comfortable.
"Captain Liu, Brother Chen Mo, I’ve already prepared fine wine and dishes in the city. Please, this way!" Zhou Hong said with a smile.
Although he looked like a scholarly gentleman, his manner of speaking was quite hearty.
"Sure!"
Liu Guo’an and the others did not refuse the generous offer, especially as they needed to understand the identities Zhou Hong had arranged for them.
"A few days ago, I already spoke with Night Dream Cat. Your... Spiritual Beasts will be introduced as talents to be recruited into Mao Mao City," Zhou Hong explained as he drank and briefed everyone.
Black Feather Hall had always had a "recomndation" system. Satellite city "officials" surrounding it could recomnd talents or beasts to the main city, and the main city could also recomnd talents to Black Feather Hall, sowhat similar to the feudal monarchies of the ancient Blue Star World.
"Cat Lord said he needs to see you in person to arrange your positions, so next, I will take you to Mao Mao City."
With Zhou Hong’s recomndation, their start wouldn’t be too low.
"Hope you all are well-prepared and don’t slip up, or else I won’t be able to help you at that ti," Zhou Hong said earnestly.
He was aware of Chen Mo and his group’s background, realizing they might co from another world.
But still, he was willing to take the risk and introduce them to Night Dream Cat.
"Of course, even if we’re exposed, we won’t implicate Brother Zhou," Liu Guo’an said.
But he was also clear in his mind that since Zhou Hong had introduced the person, if any problem arose, Zhou Hong would definitely be implicated as well and had taken a great risk.
So... There must be no mishaps in this undercover operation!
--------------------
In the afternoon, the group set off for Mao Mao City.
Mao Mao City was less than a hundred kiloters away from Golden City, and the Isolated Island Spirit could get there in about an hour at full speed.
When they were a few kiloters away from Mao Mao City, Chen Mo put the Star Sea back into the Spiritual Space.
It was better to keep a low profile. If the Star Sea landed grandly at the gates of Mao Mao City, this mission might well be declared a failure right there and then.
Soon, the group arrived at the gates of Mao Mao City.
This city was not much different from a human city and was even slightly larger than Golden City. Guarding the eastern gate were two Earth Spirit Cats, each as tall as a two-story building, with dark brown fur and a ferocious look. Judging by their appearance alone, they were certainly more terrifying than lions and tigers.
"Don’t be fooled by their fierce looks; these are actually so of the most gentle Spirit Cats."
Zhou Hong explained with a smile.
After he showed the relevant docunts, the two giant Earth Spirit Cats at the gate chose to let them pass.
As they entered the city gate, the scene that greeted Chen Mo vastly differed from what he had imagined.
Weird and wonderful houses of varying heights were scattered on both sides of the street; so were dozens of ters tall, while others were less than 1 ter. Cat climbing fras were everywhere, and the streets were bustling with people and cats alike. It was like a city out of a fairy tale.
"Mao Mao City is one of the better-equipped cities within Black Feather Hall. Apart from restaurants, hotels, hospitals, and Cat Mint Halls, there is also a dedicated Spirit Beast Academy. You might want to visit it later."
Zhou Hong introduced Mao Mao City warmly to Chen Mo and the others.
"Spirit Beast Academy?"
Chen Mo instinctively echoed.
Are Spirit Beasts getting competitive these days too?
"Yes, it’s also known as the Cat Academy, since most of the students are Spirit Cats. The Spiritual Beasts in the academy have to undergo a year of education before graduating. Spiritual Beast Teachers not only teach them various maneuvers but also the art of taming humans. After graduation, they can go to schools to choose their own Spirit Masters."
The art of taming humans!? Choosing Spirit Masters!?
That’s outrageous!
Chen Mo found this full of ridiculous points; it was entirely the opposite of the human world.
"Are all these Spirit Masters willingly signing servitude contracts?"
Chen Mo asked. Wouldn’t these Spirit Masters resist?
"Most of them volunteer, and it has always been this way in Mao Mao City. The descendants of Spirit Masters receive education and then beco the Spirit Masters for the descendants of Spirit Cats."
Zhou Hong introduced the local customs and cat culture:
"And although they sign servitude contracts, most Spiritual Beasts treat their Spirit Masters quite well. Their daily work involves taking good care of their everyday living. Often, many Spiritual Beasts and their Spirit Masters are called partners, and their relationship is equal."
This aspect was quite similar to the Blue Star World; it’s just that the roles of Spirit Master and Spiritual Beast were reversed.
Chen Mo silently thought to himself.
Before long, the group arrived at a cat hotel.
Hanging above the door was a sign made of fishbone-like material, with five big characters: ow Star Hotel.
"This couldn’t possibly be owned by a Spirit Master, could it!"
Seeing the down-to-earth hotel na, Chen Mo couldn’t help thinking to himself.
"We will stay here for the ti being today, and I will take you to et the Cat Lord tomorrow morning."
Zhou Hong spoke.
"I’ll leave it to you."
The hotel did not require registration of information, and after a total paynt of 10 Cat Coins, Chen Mo and the others settled down in the hotel.
Cat Coin was a form of Spirit Coin, nad because it looked like a cat’s paw, and primarily circulated in Mao Mao City. However, it was also recognized as currency in other areas of the Spirit Realm.
During the winter solstice, the sky darkened quickly, which was the sa in the Spirit Realm.
By 6 o’clock, night had fallen.
Countless street lamps lit up throughout Mao Mao City, which of course used not electricity but a cheap light-based mineral called Light Stone.
Chen Mo took out cooking utensils and various Spirit Fish ingredients from the Heart of the Sea. They had caught plenty of fish and shrimp in the Vortex Sea, all stored in the freezer of the Heart of the Sea.
"Tuantuan, please help!"
"Ying!"
The Ti Rice Dumpling Spirit nodded; to it, cooking was a delight.
Soon, accompanied by the sizzling sound, a rich aroma filled the entire room...
