Chapter 293: Five-Elents Miasma Abyss

Deep within the Yuqing Mountains, at Wither-Vitality Mountain.

Two streaks of escape light descended in front of a massive rift shrouded in multicolored poisonous mists, revealing the figures of one person and four beasts.

“This is the Five-Elents Miasma Abyss.” The Golden-Winged Thunder Roc's eyes held a hint of dread.

Though it wasn’t afraid of the miasma within the abyss, it still preferred not to get tainted by it.

For no other reason than this: once contaminated, the sweet and tallic stench mingled within the miasma would leave a lingering odor that clung to the body for days.

“Much appreciated, Fellow Daoist Thunder Roc.”

To be cautious, Chen Beiwu activated his divine sense and noticed that the exposed rock surfaces around the rift constantly emitted multicolored poisonous mist.

These swirling vapors tangled together to form toxic miasma, which effectively blocked divine sense, making it difficult to probe the depths of the rift.

‘Hmm? Soone’s arrived ahead of us.’

Chen Beiwu’s brows furrowed slightly as he looked thirty zhang below the cliff at the silhouette of a cultivator.

The figure stood atop a flying sword, a jade pendant at his waist glowing faintly with azure light, repelling the surrounding miasma within a three-zhang radius.

Sensing the divine sense sweep, Mo Qingshuang’s eyes flickered. His sword intent erupted, transforming into countless formless flying swords that shielded him, thoroughly isolating the spiritual probe.

‘Such sharp sword intent.’

Chen Beiwu silently praised him, then swiftly withdrew his divine sense, indicating he harbored no intent to pry.

Seeing this, Mo Qingshuang’s gaze relaxed slightly. He gave a small nod to Chen Beiwu—a polite greeting—before continuing deeper into the Five-Elents Miasma Abyss.

“Are we going in?” Golden Egg seed eager to try.

The Five-Elents Miasma that the Golden-Winged Thunder Roc desperately wanted to avoid looked no more than a sweet treat in its eyes.

Iron Egg, the Seven-Tailed Violet Fox, and the Golden-Winged Thunder Roc all turned to look at Chen Beiwu.

Chen Beiwu closed his eyes slightly, deducing with the Supre Spiritual Treasure Karmic Causality Sutra.

“Today is only the eleventh. There are still five days until the full moon. There’s no need to venture into the miasma early and waste mana for no reason.”

With that said, Chen Beiwu waved his sleeve. His storage ring flashed, and seven formation flags flew out in succession, embedding precisely into seven locations.

“Rise!”

At his soft command, the seven flags lit up simultaneously, interlinking to form three layers of light barriers.

The outermost layer shimred water-blue, concealing the formation and automatically repairing its structure.

The middle layer glowed faint gold, isolating disruptive auras and spiritual probing.

The innermost layer was as transparent as glazed glass, able to gather heaven and earth’s energy and issue early warnings.

Soon, the three layers wove together and vanished.

At that mont, a crimson streak of escape light suddenly descended from the sky, revealing the figure of Yu Zhaohua.

She lightly tapped the tip of her toe on a protruding black rock, her gaze tightening.

“Tri-Yuan Treasure Protection Formation?” Yu Zhaohua looked toward Chen Beiwu, her fingers within her sleeve subtly tensing. “You’ve already advanced to a Third-Tier Treasure Formation Master?”

While Third-Tier Treasure Formation Masters were rare among the Yuqing Immortal Sect’s Immortal Students, they weren’t unheard of—hardly enough to surprise her.

What shocked her was that Chen Beiwu was her peer, a fellow sect student only twenty-two years old.

At twenty-two, he had already reached the peak of Foundation Establishnt, cultivated the Yuqing Nine Revolutions Yuanshi Pill Canon, and was a Third-Tier Treasure Formation Master.

With all these titles stacked together, his talent and perception were likely comparable to the prodigies of the Five Great Grotto-Heavens.

“I’m not quite a Third-Tier Treasure Formation Master,” Chen Beiwu shook his head slightly.

He knew his own limitations.

The Yuqing Immortal Sect’s tenth-rank formation courses were taught by Fourth-Tier Formation Masters.

Whenever he had spare ti from cultivation, Chen Beiwu would attend these lectures to relax, having grasped about ninety percent of the instructor’s teachings.

Still, the Tri-Yuan Treasure Protection Formation was just a beginner Third-Tier array. Being able to deploy it only ant he had one foot in the realm of Third-Tier Masters.

According to the Immortal Alliance’s standards, a true Third-Tier Treasure Formation Master must master at least three Third-Tier grand formations of different attributes and improve one traditional Third-Tier formation.

Immortal Alliance’s treasure formations were rare to begin with!

Not to ntion, Chen Beiwu’s focus was always on his Yuanshi Golden Core. How could he find ti to dive deeply into formation studies?

Otherwise, he might’ve had a chance to set a new record, becoming the youngest Third-Tier Treasure Formation Master in the history of Sky Abyss Star.

“I see.” Yu Zhaohua smiled, stepping toward Chen Beiwu.

“There are still six days until the night of the full moon. Waiting around is dull. Why don’t we warm up with a little duel of techniques and discussion of Dao?”

Chen Beiwu raised a brow in mild surprise.

His prior encounters with her at the Archives had led him to assu Yu Zhaohua was a cold and aloof type.

But from these two interactions, it was clear she was a battle maniac—one who would challenge any favored genius at first sight.

Wait a minute!

A sudden realization dawned on Chen Beiwu.

Yu Zhaohua hadn’t challenged him before. Perhaps it wasn’t due to her reserved nature—but because she’d thought him too weak to even qualify as an opponent, rather than purposefully hiding her personality.

Whatever her reasoning, Chen Beiwu declined politely out of caution:

“Fellow Daoist Yu, if we spar within the Five-Elents Miasma Abyss, we might alarm the Five Qi Vine and scare it away. Best not to.”

There’d always be ti to spar.

If he missed this chance to find the Five Qi Vine, he might never track it down again.

Upon hearing this, Yu Zhaohua’s eyes revealed faint disappointnt, but she didn’t press the matter. After a few more polite words, she too activated her escape light and entered the abyss.

“Fellow Daoist Chen, you really don’t plan to go in?” the Golden-Winged Thunder Roc asked curiously.

To seize the initiative, both Mo Qingshuang and Yu Zhaohua had gone deep into the abyss in search of places the Five Qi Vine might erge.

Why was Chen Beiwu so calm from the start?

“Can’t say.”

Chen Beiwu smiled and stepped into the temporary cave abode set up within the Tri-Yuan Treasure Protection Formation.

Hearing this, the Golden-Winged Thunder Roc couldn’t help clicking its tongue and followed him inside.

It normally detested cryptic types who spoke half-truths.

But Chen Beiwu was simply too powerful. It had no leverage to force clarity.

“Ying.”

Once inside, the Seven-Tailed Violet Fox suddenly tilted its head up and licked Chen Beiwu’s cheek with its pink tongue.

Looking down, Chen Beiwu found the little one had tilted its head, the two longest tails gently curling around his wrist.

‘Is it hungry?’

He summoned an original-flavored Five-Spice Pill from his storage ring.

The little one sniffed, twitched its ears, then turned its head away and used its tail to gently push the pill aside.

“What’s wrong? Not to your taste?” Chen Beiwu chuckled.

“Ying.” ("I want milk.")

With a soft cry, the little fox used its tail to fumble at Chen Beiwu’s robe.

“Pfft.”

Seeing this, Golden Egg couldn’t hold back a laugh.

Sensing Chen Beiwu’s sharp gaze, it quickly covered its mouth with its front paw, maintaining a stoic expression.

But it only had one paw—while the other two heads faced away from Chen Beiwu, their vertical pupils squinted like crescents, mouths grinning wildly.

Iron Egg sniffed the air, activating its innate mystic ability to search for nearby Third-Tier Treasure Beasts that might be nursing offspring.

“I don’t have milk. Have so water instead.”

Chen Beiwu brought out the Mystic Spring Water he had once collected in the Tianyan True Realm.

The Seven-Tailed Violet Fox wasn’t picky. It sat obediently, sticking out its tongue to sip the falling stream of silvery water from the tilted bottle.

Watching the harmonious scene, the Golden-Winged Thunder Roc couldn’t help but feel a tinge of envy.

Becoming the Companion Beast of an Immortal Sect genius might not be such a bad path after all.

Too bad Chen Beiwu hadn’t chosen it.

anwhile, deep beneath the crude cave abode, countless vines quietly crept along, carefully sensing the conditions within the Five-Elents Miasma Abyss.

“Na?”

The Five Qi Vine looked toward where Chen Beiwu resided, its vine fuzz pulsing with flickering Five-Elental power.

Was this coincidence, or had it accidentally exposed a flaw that gave away its location?

Chen Beiwu had actually set up a formation and carved out a cave abode in the very spot it often used to absorb heaven-and-earth Dao’s rhythm.

“Na.”

The Five Qi Vine shook its head irritably.

The Five-Elents Miasma Abyss was vast, and there were plenty of spiritual veins suitable for cultivation. It didn’t necessarily have to stay in its usual place—it could always relocate.

Yet after much hesitation, the Five Qi Vine suddenly tightened its vines, steeling its resolve.

Relocating to absorb the Dao’s rhythm of heaven and earth elsewhere was indeed easy, but if it moved to avoid Chen Beiwu, wouldn’t that imply it was afraid?

It was just a eting on the night of the full moon.

As long as it firmly held its ground and refused to form a Companion Contract, no matter how strong Chen Beiwu was, he could not defy sect rules and forcibly make it submit.

‘Huh, it didn’t leave?’ Chen Beiwu’s gaze swept subtly across the ground.

The true body of the Five Qi Vine was deeply hidden within the Five-Elents Miasma Abyss.

Even with the use of talismans and magical treasures, cultivators like Mo Qingshuang would struggle to pinpoint its location, forced instead to search for traces deeper inside.

But Chen Beiwu was different. He possessed the Nine-Breath Chaos Divine Ability and imdiately noticed sothing unusual.

Deep within this area, faint purple qi lingered—neither cloud nor mist—indescribable by words, and likely the hiding place of the Five Qi Vine.

Yet knowing was one thing; Chen Beiwu didn’t believe his Earth Escape Arts could outmatch the Five Qi Vine, which was ford from a branch of an Innate Spiritual Root.

If he forcibly tunneled underground, he might end up driving the Five Qi Vine away. It was better to watch quietly and wait for the full moon night.

“Whoosh!”

“Whoosh!”

“Whoosh!”

Ti ticked by minute after minute. While Chen Beiwu ditated on the Yuqing Nine Revolutions Yuanshi Pill Canon, over a dozen streaks of light from proud cultivators appeared at the edge of the abyss.

These prodigies only hesitated briefly before risking their escape light to dive into the depths of the miasma.

“Ying.”

Inside the cave, the Seven-Tailed Violet Fox suddenly perked up its ears, leaped from Chen Beiwu’s shoulder, and ran to the entrance, tail wagging happily.

Seeing this, Chen Beiwu didn’t stop it. With a flick of thought, the cave’s entrance opened, and the Tri-Yuan Treasure Protection Formation revealed a path, letting the fox pass.

“Not afraid it’ll run away?”

Watching the Seven-Tailed Violet Fox quickly vanish, Golden Egg narrowed his draconic eyes, confused.

“If it wanted to leave, I couldn’t stop it anyway.” Chen Beiwu smiled calmly.

He had co to the Yuqing Mountains to contract the Five Qi Vine, but the appearance of the Seven-Tailed Violet Fox had sowhat changed his plans.

This generation’s Five Qi Vine was eccentric and unpredictable. If it truly refused to acknowledge him, the Seven-Tailed Violet Fox would make a fine Companion Beast.

Of course, only children make choices.

If both the Five Qi Vine and the Seven-Tailed Violet Fox were willing to be his contract beasts, Chen Beiwu naturally wouldn’t reject either.

Iron Egg gave a slight nod, fully confident in its master’s charm.

There was no way the Seven-Tailed Violet Fox would run away!

anwhile, halfway into its run, the Seven-Tailed Violet Fox happened to be spotted by an Immortal Sect prodigy.

“Little one, where’s Chen Beiwu?”

Ye Xinya crouched down, looking at the fox with surprise in her voice.

Could it be that Chen Beiwu had already succeeded in contracting the Five Qi Vine? Otherwise, why would he let go of a Seven-Tailed Violet Fox with such limitless potential?

“Ying.”

The Seven-Tailed Violet Fox chose to go around her, not even bothering to glance her way.

With Heavenly-Gang Mystic Beast blood running through its veins, it was born proud and unyielding.

The fact that it could act coy and roll around in Chen Beiwu’s arms didn’t an other Immortal Sect prodigies deserved even a glance.

Quite the opposite—ordinary prodigies weren’t even worthy of its gaze.

“You’re really haughty in front of , little one.”

Ye Xinya reached out with her right hand, trying to grab the Seven-Tailed Violet Fox’s neck to sneak in a little petting.

This fox was still in its bloodline awakening phase, with only a few decades of cultivation. Even if its talent allowed it to slay ordinary Second-Realm Lesser Beasts despite still being at the Spirit stage, it couldn’t possibly threaten a Golden Core True Person.

“Ying!” ("Mom!")

Sensing Ye Xinya’s motion, the Seven-Tailed Violet Fox’s gaze turned fierce. With a childish growl, it instant-shifted a hundred zhang away.

Seeing this, Ye Xinya’s brows tightened deeply.

What the hell did Chen Beiwu feed this fox?

She was ranked seventy-ninth on the Yuxu Rankings, and yet she didn’t even earn a friendly look from the little beast.

Boom!

Just then, Ye Xinya’s body froze, a piercing chill shooting up her spine.

“You bullying my child?”

The Violet Yao Beast Sovereign gently stroked the Seven-Tailed Violet Fox, her voice so soft it sent chills down the spine.

Seeing the peerlessly beautiful woman appear out of nowhere, Ye Xinya tried to explain, but realized her Golden Core within her dantian sea of qi was sealed, leaving her completely immobilized.

“For the sake of the Ye Clan of Lingyuan, I’ll let this go with a small warning.”

As her words fell, the space rippled like water, and Ye Xinya’s figure vanished, teleported to a distant location.

“Had your fun yet?” the Violet Yao Beast Sovereign looked toward the youngling.

“Ying.” The Seven-Tailed Violet Fox flicked its tails playfully.

“You little ingrate. You only think of your mother when you’re hungry.” The Violet Yao Beast Sovereign shook her head and sighed.

Five days later.

The Tri-Yuan Treasure Protection Formation opened, revealing the figure of the Seven-Tailed Violet Fox.

“Ying.”

It turned into a streak of violet light, leaping onto Chen Beiwu, proudly lifting its small head and raising the jade bottle in its paw.

“A gift for ?” Chen Beiwu raised a brow.

What a thoughtful little one.

He’d thought it left because it missed its parents, but hadn’t expected it went to retrieve a gift.

“Ying.”

The fox nodded, its tail curling proudly as it pushed the jade bottle toward Chen Beiwu.

Sweeping it with his divine sense and finding it unreadable, Chen Beiwu simply opened the bottle.

In an instant, a milky-white mist wafted out, carrying a rich, enticing aroma that made Golden Egg, Iron Egg, and the Golden-Winged Thunder Roc salivate.

Chen Beiwu’s pupils contracted slightly. He quickly capped the bottle and returned it to the Seven-Tailed Violet Fox.

He appreciated the gift.

But he would never take a child’s food.

“Ying?”

The Seven-Tailed Violet Fox tilted its head, puzzled by why Chen Beiwu refused.

This was super tasty!

If it didn’t see Chen Beiwu as one of its own, it wouldn’t have shared even a drop.

“Rumble!”

Fortunately, at that mont, the miasma above the Five-Elents Miasma Abyss began violently surging.

Chen Beiwu’s eyes sharpened as he looked up at the sky, where celestial phenona began to change.

The night of the full moon had finally arrived!
