Lin Chen gently patted its head and said, "From now on, you’ll be my fourth Spirit Beast. How about I call you Xiaolan?"
"Gulu gulu~~~"
The Flying Fish Beast seed to be settling in, nodding its head. Its temperant was even gentler than Lin Chen had imagined.
Lin Chen also called over Xiaobai and the others for introductions.
"This is the boss, Xiaobai, who snatched you ho."
"The second, Xiao Hong, also the ’mother’ who hatched you."
"Gu~"
"This is the third, Xiao Hei, who just saved you with its belly."
"Gulu~~"
The Golden Fish Beast naturally rembered that Xiao Hei had saved it. It flew right up to the head of the Big White Bear to express goodwill, then flew over to the Little Fox, indicating it could sit on its fish back.
"Gu?"
The Little Fox looked at Lin Chen, asking if it could sit. Lin Chen nodded, and the Little Fox jumped on. Then, the Flying Fish Beast really took off with Xiao Hong aboard.
When it was Xiaobai’s turn, Xiaolan Fish was sowhat reserved. Although Xiaobai still looked like the sowhat silly Plowhorn Beast, it had been through many battles and carried a bit of killing intent.
Seeing the apprehensive Xiaolan Fish, Xiaobai rely squinted and smiled, then tossed it onto its back, startling Xiaolan Fish as it crawled around until it steadied itself, its eyes lighting up.
"Gulu gulu~"
Its eyes squinted with a silly smile.
Lin Chen also breathed a sigh of relief. It seed there truly was no issue of compatibility; the newly born Spirit Beast was as pure as a blank slate.
But what exactly was this Flying Fish Beast?
And why did he inexplicably gain another Spirit Beast he’d never seen before?
....
Soon, the previously silent land echoed with joyful voices. The Little Fox and Xiaolan Fish got along well. After just two days of getting to know each other, the Little Fox often rode Xiaolan Fish, flying around happily like joyful elves.
Lin Chen also began observing Xiaolan Fish, trying to determine its nature.
He advised the Little Fox to learn about diligent cultivation.
The Little Fox understood that this could not be taken lightly. It was the ti to shape character; if it went astray, changing it later would be hard.
Not that Lin Chen necessarily needed the Spirit Beasts to focus solely on cultivation, but in this world, if you don’t beco stronger, you might not even survive.
Under the Little Fox’s diligent guidance, Xiaolan Fish finally learned how to ditate. Under Lin Chen’s satisfied gaze, the two little creatures sat side by side, with Xiaolan Fish beginning its first ditation session of its fish life.
Seeing it successfully getting into the zone, Lin Chen turned to check on how Xiaobai and the others were progressing in their cultivation.
But unexpectedly, after an hour when he ca back, he heard snoring sounds. Upon looking, Xiaolan Fish was lying on the ground, sleeping soundly. Interestingly, during its sleep, a bubble ford at its nostril and never popped.
"..."
Lin Chen was speechless, thinking that Xiaolan Fish didn’t seem like a diligent beast.
He’s not worried; habits like this can be changed.
After about five hours, the Little Fox awoke from its ditation, seeing Xiaolan Fish’s state, it was sweating profusely and let out a ’gu’ to Lin Chen, indicating it tried its best.
Who would have thought that at this mont, Xiaolan Fish opened its eyes and gave a ’gulu.’
"Hungry?" Lin Chen said awkwardly.
Xiaolan Fish had just been born; it couldn’t be neglected.
But its appetite was substantial indeed.
Just as Lin Chen was about to bring out so Beast Milk, he realized sothing astonishing.
Xiaolan Fish’s Level had already gone from 1 to 2!
"You... you leveled up?!"
