Ray’s gaze deepened.
"Truth? Could it an the reason why I was granted a second chance at life?"
"And what’s the unknown reward?"
Ray felt curious. Besides, he had already planned to do it.
So he said:
"I accept."
♦️ The Quest [Hunt Down the Traitors] has been assigned to you. Good luck Host. You will need it. Your enemies are so of the most fearso Iron, Bronze, and Silver tars!
Ray rely smirked at the warning.
He had stared death in the face and survived.
He had killed so many evil tars and demonic creatures.
Even fiends—who tars found fearso—had died to his hands.
Ashclaw, Nisha, and Varun Blackspike might be so of the most fearso tars in the world, as they had long shed themselves of their humanity, becoming demons in human skin. But he was confident. With his strength and his willingness to sink to any low to take out his enemies, he would kill them.
It would take ti, yes.
But they would definitely die soti in the upcoming months.
"Let’s plan thoroughly and start killing them."
"Currently, I know the most about Ashclaw. Out of the ringleaders, he is the easiest to kill. With what I have found from Torvin’s mories, he makes for an easy kill."
Ray went over the information in his head.
"Ashclaw has three powerful treasures.
"The Teleportation Scroll, the Wolf Star Pendant, and the Rune of Protection.
"The Wolf Star Pendant lets him resist charms and curses, making it impossible to hypnotize or curse him to death.
"The Teleportation Scroll lets him teleport anywhere within a radius of 100 miles. It needs to be manually activated—in other words, he needs ti to use it.
"The Rune of Protection can summon a shield powerful enough to block the attacks of Silver Rank experts. It’s a consumable. It can only be used once. It can automatically activate when his life is threatened. When used in tandem with the Teleportation Scroll, Ashclaw can even survive an ambush by a Silver Ranker!"
"Looks like I was right to not underestimate him. If I had gone to assassinate him when I was weaker, I wouldn’t have succeeded. It would have just made matters more troubleso for !"
"All three items are of the silver quality. A Bronze Rank item is worth dozens of gold coins. But Silver Rank items are worth platinum bars."
How much was a platinum bar?
It was equivalent to 1000 gold coins.
Even the cheapest Silver Ranked items were worth one or two platinum bars. But Ashclaw’s Silver Ranked items weren’t simple. They should be worth hundreds of platinum bars.
That raised the question—how did he afford them?
"Did he dump his earnings from the mine into purchasing them? He must really value his life."
Ray’s eyes narrowed thoughtfully.
"But his actions are understandable.
"He is engaging in business with people who are as deranged as him. He needs to have so sort of backup in case things go south."
"The Wolf Star Pendant protects him from Nisha’s charms, while the Teleportation Scroll and the Rune of Protection can save his life if he is attacked by Varun, ensuring he would have the chance to run away if they ever turn on him."
Ray closed his eyes.
"Ashclaw is like a cunning old fox perpetually hiding in a turtle shell. It’s too tough to kill him."
As per his words, it was tough, but not impossible. That was indeed the case. Ray wasn’t underestimating Ashclaw in the slightest.
"The barrier generated by the Rune of Defense only lasts two hours. And the Teleportation Scroll—well, even it has limitations."
Ray went over the details in his mind, giving himself a rough explanation.
"The size of reality directly influences the maximum range of a Teleportation Scroll. In a confined space of just one cubic ter, the scroll can only teleport the user within that single cubic ter of space, not outside of it. Each dungeon is essentially a separate reality, a domain detached from Earth itself."
"If I bring Ashclaw into a dungeon, the effectiveness of his life-saving treasures will be cut down drastically. Then, by simply blocking the dungeon’s exit, I can kill him. It’s not like a person inside a dungeon can contact those outside, so this plan makes sense."
He exhaled slowly.
"The only real problem is, how can I lure him into a dungeon? Even if I approach him in the disguise of his son, it would be hard to convince him to follow into a dungeon."
"Ashclaw value his life a lot."
Ray thought so hard that veins bulged across his forehead.
Before he could co up with a foolproof plan to render Ashclaw’s life-saving items obsolete and rip his head off, he suddenly rembered.
There was sothing important he had to do, and he had to do it quickly, otherwise it would be too late!
