Silence fell between Ray and Naless as no one spoke.

This silence shattered as Ray spoke in a calm tone.

"Naless, what if I told you that you are not what you’ve been led to believe? That your cursed seal isn’t what it seems. Would you believe ?"

"No," Naless replied swiftly, "When my seal was discovered to be blank, every Invigilator under the Crown’s command was summoned to study it. They all said the sa thing. My seal is useless. I am a hopeless case. Those people can see things other can’t. They can peer into fate and glimpse heaven’s secrets. If even they saw nothing special in my seal, then how could it possibly be different than what it seems?"

"Either they were all lying, or they were deceived, their divinations falsified by a stronger invigilator who didn’t want to continue seeing you in the position of the Crown Prince," Ray said, his words laced with utmost confidence.

Naless stiffened.

He had spent enough ti with Ray to know he didn’t speak with such confidence without good reason.

’Is my seal truly not as worthless as they said?’ he wondered.

"Why do you say that?" Naless asked, staring unblinking at Ray’s back.

Although curious about what he knew, Naless didn’t bother using his eye technique to see through him.

It didn’t work on Ray. That much had already been proven.

Previously, when he had activated his Sage Eyes to probe a fiend immune to the Shattering Mother’s curse, his gaze had accidentally fallen on Ray.

At that mont, he should have seen everything related to his past and present. Instead, he saw nothing.

That ant one thing only.

Ray was fateless.

Only two types of beings were fateless.

The first were corpses. The second were those abandoned by fate. They were destined to live short lives. It was a miracle for them to live past their thirties.

Ray wasn’t a corpse but he was fateless. It ant he was abandoned by fate. He could die anyti in the next few years. Naless felt it too cruel to tell him the truth, so he kept it to himself.

Ray moved away from the fire, turning towards Naless, before breaking a shocking news. "Because your seal is similar to mine."

Naless narrowed his eyes. "Don’t bullshit . You can ta beasts, wield powers, fight like a monster. Your seal can’t be anything like mine."

"Do you still believe that?"

A pulse of light flared.

Ray brought out the Eclipse Devouring Seal, waving it before Namless’s very eyes.

Naless’s eyes widened, disbelief flashing across his face.

"It... it’s similar to mine?"

He summoned his seal out too, to make a better comparison and ensure his mories and eyes were not playing tricks on him. Between his and Ray’s seals, appearance-wise there were no differences.

"How is this possible? How can a person with a cursed seal ta beasts and use superpowers???"

"The so-called cursed seal can devour other seals to perfectly copy the skills they offer. It can’t duplicate sa skills, however. Its true Na is the Eclipse Devouring Seal. It has the potential to be unrivaled under the heavens!"

Ray had already judged his character. Naless carried a strong sense of righteousness. People with such character do not bite the hand that feed them. They know how to repay gratitude.

And on the rare chance Ray had misjudged him, he wasn’t defenseless. With the tal King Sli under his command, he had gained the ability to use Destiny Swap.

If Naless tried to kill him for his seal, Ray could undoubtedly catch him off guard and kill him. Namless didn’t have a system like him so he wouldn’t know he had died after destroying his body!

Hearing Ray’s explanation, Naless’s eyes burned with a realization that had eluded him for years.

"I see. It’s why you said I have been sched against. Either not a single Invigilator under the crown has loyalty, or I have been plotted against by a force that interfered with the divination of the Invigilators who were summoned to make sense of my blank seal!"

"Whoever in the kingdom have the power to do that is the culprit behind your downfall," Ray guided him further to the truth.

"It has to be the Grand Inquisitor. That old bastard. He is the strongest invigilator in our kingdom. I can’t believe he fucked with so badly I lost everything just so that he can place his grandson in my father’s throne one day." Namless gnashed his teeth.

With his expression twisted, although he now looked fierce like a ghost, his handsoness didn’t disperse surprisingly.

If previously, he looked like a charming prince, then now he looked like a handso devil.

’So this is what he looks like when he is angry. Quite different than an ordinary man,’ Ray thought.

The Grand Inquisitor was the maternal grandfather of the current Crown Prince. As the strongest invigilator of the Leon kingdom, it should be impossible for him not to notice the specialty of Namless’s seal.

It’s true na is the Eclipse Devouring Seal.

"How do I use it?" Naless asked.

Ray revealed the secret to him without hesitation.

"What do you want in return?" Naless stared. "Nothing in this world is free. Since you so eagerly did such a huge favour, there must be sothing you want."

"Beco my backer when you are reinstated."

Actually, Ray had been worried that if Naless discovered the truth in the future on his own, then he wouldn’t be able to take advantage. So he took this opportunity to share what he knew, believing he was at the right place at the right ti.

"That’s all?" Namless asked.

"You can give as much as you want to if you feel overly indebted. I never say no to free stuff," Ray smiled shalessly.

Naless gave him his earring.

"What’s this earring for? Don’t tell it’s just for looking good. I don’t like to dress fancy like you."

Ray was a simple man. If it was a dress that could grand him immunity to damage, he wouldn’t think twice before wearing it. However, if it was just a simple fire? He would rather burn it than wear it.

Sensing his disdain, Namless clarified,

"It’s a communication device from the Tower of Enlightnt! You might better know it as the birth place of beast tar. It acts as both a sender and a receiver. It can receive signals and transmit signals to my earring, allowing to pick up your voice and vice versa regardless of the distance between us. With this, we can communicate across vast distances."
