Vol 2 Chapter 23: The Beast Taming Physique
Lin Jing ceased flying and descended to the ground, where the surrounding area instantly froze upon his landing.
Extending his hand, he drew out the golden Contract Blood and examined it carefully.
This Contract Blood appeared no different from the first drop he had condensed when forming a contract with the Pine Leaf Mouse.
Running through the Beast Taming Art once more, Lin Jing confird that it was still at the ninth stage and had yet to reach perfection. He couldn’t help but marvel at the phenonon.
"The opportunities within the Cavern Heaven truly are extraordinary. After refining my Beast Taming Qi to a flawless state, it actually triggered a second transformation of my physique, allowing to condense another drop of Contract Blood!"
"And yet... after this second transformation of my physique, I feel like there have been other changes as well," Lin Jing muttered, his gaze shifting toward the Pine Leaf Mouse.
The Pine Leaf Mouse, on its end, seed preoccupied with inspecting its own Glazed Immortal Eyes. Just like Lin Jing, it had undergone a half-step Foundation Establishnt transformation, with its physique altered by the refinent of True Energy.
“Squeak squeak squeak!!!” The Pine Leaf Mouse finished studying itself and discovered that its Glazed Immortal Eyes had gained an additional function. Although it still couldn’t synthesize resources outside of plant-based materials, nor could it create higher-tier resources, it now displayed countless dense symbols over synthesized items in its field of vision.
While it didn’t recognize these symbols, the Pine Leaf Mouse instinctively understood their anings.
Picking up a red leaf, its information imdiately surfaced in the Pine Leaf Mouse’s mind:

The Pine Leaf Mouse then examined an Exploding Spirit Bean:

“Squeak!” The Pine Leaf Mouse turned to Lin Jing, excitedly signaling that it could now perceive the effects of synthesized items through its newly upgraded Glazed Immortal Eyes.
“Oh?” Lin Jing was astonished. Clearly, the Pine Leaf Mouse’s gains were not insignificant.
While Lin Jing’s physique had been transford through the flawless refinent of Beast Taming Qi, the Pine Leaf Mouse’s eyes had been upgraded by the Everlasting Emperor’s True Energy.
Although it seed that the Glazed Immortal Eyes had not gained any new abilities for synthesizing resources, the ability to perceive the effects of synthesized items was a significant improvent.
After leaving the Beast Taming Sect, they had stopped experinting with synthesized resources due to the lack of test subjects and other distractions. Now, with the advanced Glazed Immortal Eyes, the Pine Leaf Mouse could resu synthesis without needing experintal subjects. Even if the synthesized items were hazardous, it could imdiately identify their effects without risking itself.
“It seems this trip was worthwhile after all,” Lin Jing remarked with satisfaction.
“By the way, can you sense any changes in ?” Lin Jing asked, clenching the golden Contract Blood in his hand and retracting it. Apart from forming the second drop of Contract Blood, he vaguely sensed so changes in his physique, but he couldn’t pinpoint them on his own.
The Pine Leaf Mouse hesitated for a mont before looking into Lin Jing’s eyes. In an instant, it felt as if it had plunged into darkness, with only a pair of eyes as vast and oppressive as celestial stars staring back at it.
“...” The Pine Leaf Mouse staggered back, cold sweat running down its furry body as it felt a shudder deep in its bloodline.
“Squeak…” The Pine Leaf Mouse could feel that Lin Jing had beco much more terrifying. It was as though he could subdue it instantly. The faint sense of bloodline suppression it experienced made the blood vial it was holding suddenly seem utterly unappealing.
Lin Jing observed this reaction thoughtfully.
Just then, a giant bird engulfed in flas swooped toward the Pine Leaf Mouse. Without using any spells, Lin Jing allowed his Ninth Stage Beast Taming Qi to erupt.

Nine whirlpools of True Energy swirled around Lin Jing, and in an instant, even though the Longevity Blood remained as tempting as ever, the fiery bird—possessing phoenix bloodline—froze mid-air. It appeared as if it had sensed an overwhelmingly dreadful aura and dared not move forward.
“It seems my suspicions were correct. After the second transformation of my physique, my ability to suppress beasts has beco significantly stronger,” Lin Jing took a deep breath.
“In the past, the Beast Taming Art could only suppress contracted spirit beasts, preventing them from rebelling. But now, I can even suppress uncontracted beasts. If this were a weaker demonic beast instead of this firebird with a strong bloodline, it would probably submit to with just a single glance.”
Lin Jing extended his palm toward the flaming bird, clenching the air as if grasping an invisible force. Instantly, the firebird sensed a trendous danger. It turned to flee, but it was too late.
“Fla Control Art!”
Before the bird could fly far, the flas within its body erupted uncontrollably, turning it into a massive fireball.

The fiery bird exploded spectacularly.
“Squeak?!” The Pine Leaf Mouse looked at Lin Jing in awe. Just using his Beast Taming Qi and the Fla Control Art, Lin Jing had annihilated a Ninth Stage Qi Refinent demonic beast. The Pine Leaf Mouse’s regard for him grew significantly.
This ti, Lin Jing hadn’t even relied on the power of the Ice Soul Gu!
“While this ability may not have the sa effect on humans, it’ll definitely give an advantage when dealing with demonic beasts in the future. Lin Jing fell into deep thought as this bold hypothesis surfaced in his mind. Even if his physique hadn’t achieved the aura required to suppress all beasts yet, the sheer anomaly of condensing two drops of Contract Blood during the Qi Refinent stage was enough to prove how extraordinary his current physique had beco.
“Squeak!!!” The Pine Leaf Mouse tossed a Replenishing Pill to Lin Jing. Both of them had been relying on pills to maintain their peak condition. It then chattered, asking if they would be able to imdiately contract the Fla Dragon Carp once they returned.
“Hmm,” Lin Jing nodded. “However, even though I’ve managed to cultivate a second physique by chance, we still haven’t reached the Tenth Stage of Qi Refinent. I’m not sure how much longer this Cavern Heaven will remain stable...”
“I’m already nearing my limit...”
He raised a trembling hand, struggling to move his fingers. His entire body felt like his blood had almost stopped circulating and was already freezing solid. If he continued using the power of the Ice Soul Gu, he feared that he would soon lose the ability to move altogether.
This terrifying freezing power had even resisted his desperate attempts to counter it. He had tried eating black peppers capable of scorching one’s soul, yet they had done nothing to dispel the cold.
Still, without the Ice Soul Gu’s power, the efficiency of his and the Pine Leaf Mouse’s hunting would plumt dramatically.
“What do you think...” Lin Jing asked the Pine Leaf Mouse as he narrowed his eyes. “What if I use the second drop of Contract Blood I condensed during the Qi Refinent stage to contract the Ice Soul Gu directly?”
“It’s currently sealed and suppressed, as well as in a state of dormancy. Since it shares my fate—my gains and losses are its gains and losses—it’s unlikely to resist the Beast Taming Contract. If I successfully contract it, I should be able to suppress its power more effectively using the contract and my Beast Taming Physique.”
Previously, Lin Jing wouldn’t have dared to make such a bold move. But now, with the Beast Taming Physique cultivated, and given that Gu worms were classified as beasts, he believed he might not even need to rely on a fire-type spirit beast to suppress the Ice Soul Gu. The Beast Taming Contract alone might be enough to control its power to so extent.

However, there was one concern. Gu Masters had specialized techniques unique to their craft for controlling Gu worms, while the Beast Taming Art wasn’t designed for contracting Gu. At least, the Beast Taming Sect had no records of such an attempt. What might happen was completely unknown.
