Chapter 43: True Disciple!

Hearing Senior Brother Ouyang’s story, the Pine Leaf Mouse imdiately wanted to test the difficulty of leaping to Tiandu Peak.

Under normal circumstances, such a leap was impossible for it. As a spirit beast not known for explosive power, even without the suppressive aura between the peaks, its current capabilities—boosted by a Beast Strength Pill—still wouldn’t suffice.

But jumping wasn’t its only option; it had Leaf Flight!

With a swish, the Pine Leaf Mouse shot into the sky, riding a red leaf.

Ouyang was stunned, his mouth agape.

However, it wasn’t long before the Pine Leaf Mouse felt an overwhelming pressure, as though the gravity around it had increased severalfold. The sheer weight made controlling the leaf feel like trying to maneuver dozens of leaves at once—impossible.

Halfway to Tiandu Peak, the Pine Leaf Mouse lost control and began plumting.

“Senior Brother Ouyang, catch it!” Lin Jing called out.

“Huh?” Ouyang snapped out of his shock and quickly cast Whirlwind Technique, gently pulling the Pine Leaf Mouse back.

“That scared ! For a mont, I thought it was really going to make it. Seriously, is this even fair?”

“It’s a genius,” Lin Jing explained.

“Senior Brother, you don’t sound very encouraging. Are you afraid it might actually succeed?”

The Pine Leaf Mouse dusted itself off and turned its determined gaze toward Tiandu Peak, clearly ready to try again. It felt compelled to accomplish what its ancestor couldn’t.

“What? Of course not! That wasn’t a leap—it was cheating!” Ouyang protested.

“Flying counts as leaping,” Lin Jing countered. “It seems that Nascent Soul ancestor really doesn’t want to pass on their teachings.”

He tugged the Pine Leaf Mouse away. "Forget it; even cheating won’t work if you can’t make it halfway."

The Pine Leaf Mouse’s flight speed rivaled the sword-riding techniques of prodigies from Heavenly Sword Gate, yet it still couldn’t conquer the peak. The challenge was simply too daunting.

“I told you so,” Ouyang said, shaking his head. “Alright, let’s head to Elder Mo.”

---

Lotus Peak, one of the three main peaks of the Beast Taming Sect, mirrored Tiandu Peak as a place for semi-retired elders like Elder Mo. The last main peak served as the sect master’s residence and the hub for conducting sect-wide affairs.

By the ti Lin Jing and Ouyang arrived, Elder Mo was already waiting, aware of their visit.

“What brings the three of you here?” Elder Mo asked, eyeing Lin Jing, Ouyang, and the Pine Leaf Mouse. None of them seed the type to make trouble-free requests.

“Elder Mo, I’ve decided. Once I break through in the Beast Taming Technique and condense my second drop of blood contract, I plan to contract a Heavenfeather Crane, just like the sect master!” Ouyang announced. “And... I want a male one.”

“That’s called a rooster crane,” Elder Mo corrected with a dismissive wave. “Fine. I’ll speak to their clan on your behalf.”

“Thank you, Elder!” Ouyang bowed gratefully. With this, he’d have his Foundation Establishnt pet beast ready, along with an easy ans of flying for missions.

“And you?” Elder Mo turned to Lin Jing. “You’re not here just to ask for a fire pet to assist with your alchemy, are you?”

“No, Elder Mo,” Lin Jing replied with a slight smile, the Pine Leaf Mouse clutching its Daoist robe.

“We’ve given the matter of the Hidden Dragon Academy a lot of thought and realized it’s a valuable opportunity to hone our skills and learn new techniques to benefit the sect.”

“However, we also recognize that the academy will likely be filled with prodigies from other sects. Competing with them at our current level might be difficult.”

“So, I was wondering... You once ntioned that as an Outer Sect disciple, I would receive Inner Sect-level treatnt, and as an Inner Sect disciple, I would receive privileges akin to a True Disciple. Could I request the Life-Bound Beast Space Artifact, which only True Disciples are entitled to, as well as the sect’s True Disciple Beast Taming Techniques?”

Beside him, Ouyang gave a discreet thumbs-up. Lin Jing’s phrasing was masterful—asking for top-tier resources under the guise of preparing to better serve the sect.

Elder Mo pondered this for a mont. “If you’re heading to the Hidden Dragon Academy, you’ll need to prepare thoroughly. Even our sect master, ard with all the sect’s True Disciple techniques, was beaten black and blue when he attended the academy unprepared. Going in without sufficient preparation is out of the question.”

“However, you’re not technically a True Disciple. To grant you a Life-Bound Beast Space Artifact, I’ll need to convene with the elders and discuss it. Wait for my ssage.”

“As for the True Disciple Beast Taming Techniques, it’s not that I’m unwilling to teach you—it’s just that they all require advancing the Beast Taming Technique to the Foundation Establishnt stage first.”

Lin Jing nodded. “Having the Life-Bound Beast Space Artifact will be enough.”

“Let think... While you can’t learn the techniques yet, you can begin preparing for them.”

Elder Mo continued, “The Beast Taming Sect has three major True Disciple Beast Taming Techniques and ten Core Beast Taming Techniques.”

“The three major techniques are:

1. Fusion Secret Art – Allows a contracted beast to rge with its tar, transforming into a ‘half-demon’ state for a massive combat boost.”

Ouyang’s eyes glead. This would let him and Red’er fight even more closely together.

2. Immortal Rebirth – If a contracted beast dies in battle, as long as the blood contract remains intact, the tar can resurrect it. However, each resurrection causes a significant loss in cultivation for both the tar and the beast, severely draining their vitality.

3. Beast-Weaponization – Enables the tar to transform their contracted beast into living artifacts, such as armor or weapons, to assist in combat.

“Each technique has specific requirents: Fusion demands a strong physique, Immortal Rebirth requires a resilient spirit and soul, and Beast-Weaponization hinges on high levels of spiritual energy and refined Beast Taming Qi. If you have a preference, start training accordingly.”

“As for the ten Core Beast Taming Techniques, they’re available in the Inner Sect’s Scripture Pavilion. Each one enhances pets of a particular elent—gold, wood, water, fire, earth, wind, thunder, ice, yin, or yang—temporarily raising their cultivation level.”

“With proper mastery, it’s not difficult to boost your beast by a minor realm during battle.”

“These techniques form the foundation of our sect and were developed by the third sect master, who refined the original Beast Taming Technique to create them.”

After Elder Mo finished, the Pine Leaf Mouse tugged at Lin Jing’s sleeve.

It had no interest in fusing or becoming a weapon. Immortal Rebirth, however, sounded appealing—it wanted more lives.

Lin Jing smirked and communicated ntally, “You’ve gotten picky now, huh? Fine. When we encounter a strong enemy, I’ll run, and you can stall them. I’ll revive you later.”
