Vol 2 Chapter 68: Master of Hundred Flower Valley
Disciples of the Beast Taming Sect scattered in all directions, and while the Great Wasteland stirred because of Lin Jing, he had already retreated into the best cave dwelling on Beast Taming Peak to focus on cultivation.
"The Genius Rankings are beginning to show their worth," Lin Jing murmured as he glanced at the back of his hand. A golden aura dragon flickered faintly, as if on the verge of awakening.
"Unfortunately, without holding an official position, the Hidden Dragon Arts can never fully mature."
Currently, his Hidden Dragon Arts had only reached a minor level of mastery. No matter how much fa he accumulated, it could only replenish the consud Hidden Dragon Fortune, but not push the technique further.
To truly evolve the Hidden Dragon Arts, he needed to rge the Hidden Dragon Fortune with an official position's fortune. At that point, a new ability would erge: the power of dragon fortune, which could temporarily elevate his cultivation.
It was said that the first Ancient Emperor relied on this ability to channel the national fortune of an entire kingdom, becoming the strongest individual on the continent—soone whose cultivation was closest to immortality.
"Senior Pine, are you there?" Lin Jing called out.
"What is it?"
"Should we head to the Extre Cold Land next? I've heard that even powerful cultivators risk freezing to death there."
"I want to help the Fla Dragon Carp reach the tenth stage of Qi Refinent. With it by my side, the cold might be more bearable."
"By harnessing the potential of Hidden Dragon Fortune, feeding the carp with Longevity Blood for nourishnt, and relying on its natural talents, achieving the tenth stage of Qi Refinent shouldn’t be impossible. But it's still not a guarantee," Lin Jing speculated.
"Hmm?"
"If we could borrow so diluted dragon blood from the Southern Mountain Demon Emperor's semi-divine avatar... there’d be no question about it achieving the tenth stage."
The Fla Dragon Carp silently nodded, though its frustration was evident.
"No need," Senior Pine cut in. "You have the Ice Soul Gu within your body; you won't freeze to death. A tenth-stage Fla Dragon Carp is far inferior to an eleventh-stage Ice Gu. Its warmth is barely one percent of what the Ice Soul Gu can disperse."
Lin Jing fell silent.
The Fla Dragon Carp glared angrily—was it really worse than a spider? It couldn’t believe how much it disliked Senior Pine.
"Fine, let’s give it a try," Lin Jing said, pulling the indignant Fla Dragon Carp deeper into the cave dwelling.
In the depths of the cave, Lin Jing watched as the Fla Dragon Carp floated in midair. He knew it had been longing to eat the Cloud Sea Mosquito Beast for a while now.
With the carp's current cultivation, even with its strong bloodline, it was impossible to contend against a swarm of mosquito beasts. Fortunately, he only needed to summon one mosquito beast at a ti.
"Go."
Lin Jing activated the Myriad Beast Circle. Inside the barren land of the circle, a swarm of mosquito beasts buzzed aimlessly. Suddenly, a drop of Longevity Blood fell, releasing an enticing aroma that sent the mosquito beasts into a frenzy. They beca savage, abandoning their cohesion and attacking one another in a mad rush toward the blood.
"Fools!"
Monts later, a fat mosquito beast at the fourth stage of Qi Refinent managed to swallow the drop of Longevity Blood. Its body began to emit an ominous red mist, and its aura grew terrifyingly stronger.
Boom!
In an instant, it showed signs of mutation, radiating a special aura that made the other mosquito beasts retreat in fear. This mosquito beast seed poised to beco a "Mosquito King."
"Huh. Can Longevity Blood cause such a transformation in demonic beasts?" Lin Jing observed. "The fear it inspires among the other mosquitoes feels similar to the Beast Taming Physique."
Before Lin Jing could determine whether the transformation was due to the Longevity Blood or his own blood's beast-taming traits, the Mosquito King began to display an alarming ability: commanding the swarm.
Previously, the Cloud Sea Mosquito Beasts moved in groups but lacked leadership. Now, with the Mosquito King, their cohesion increased, and they began a new assault on the Myriad Beast Circle's barriers.
Realizing the danger, Lin Jing quickly pulled the Mosquito King out of the circle to prevent it from competing with him for control over the swarm.
At that mont, the Fla Dragon Carp, which had been waiting eagerly, opened its mouth wide—wider than its body—and swallowed the Mosquito King whole before it could react. Flas ignited within the carp, refining the beast like a pill.
"One at a ti seems manageable," Lin Jing nodded. "In that case, we’ll start hatching the dormant mosquito eggs soon."
As he patted the contented carp on the head, Lin Jing noticed its blissful expression and considered bestowing more Hidden Dragon Fortune upon it. Suddenly, his face darkened.
"You seem to be enjoying yourself," he muttered.
The Fla Dragon Carp froze, puzzled by its master's sudden foul mood.
With a sigh, Lin Jing thought about how, ever since leaving the Dragon-Phoenix Cavern Heaven, he hadn’t been able to enjoy food properly. The lingering effects of eating Dragon Liver and Phoenix Marrow had ruined his appetite for anything else.
Looking at the carp’s satisfaction, he felt a sudden urge to indulge his own taste buds.
"I heard that Hundred Flower Valley produces a unique nectar called the Hundred Flower Immortal Honey. Its flavor is said to be unparalleled, one of the top ten delicacies in the Great Wasteland. However, it never leaves the valley and is reserved only for the valley master."
"Maybe that could awaken my dulled palate," Lin Jing mused. He decided to give it a try.
Unable to resist, he flew out of the cave, leaving the Fla Dragon Carp behind, confused and frustrated at being left alone again.
Lin Jing intended to visit the Master of Hundred Flower Valley. Even though he was only at the Qi Refinent Stage, as the Holy Son of the Beast Taming Sect, he had every right to pay his respects as a junior.
Before he could request an introduction from the sect’s grand elder, an elderly woman flew toward Beast Taming Peak and happened to cross paths with him.
"Greetings, Senior," Lin Jing bowed respectfully.
"You..." The elder, Elder Fang of Hundred Flower Valley, scrutinized him. "I’ve never seen you in the valley before. Are you Lin Jing?"
"Yes, Senior. I am Lin Jing," he replied.
"So it’s you." Elder Fang, aware of the recent events in the Beast Taming Sect, had been on her way to inquire further. She hadn’t expected to run into the central figure of the commotion.
"I am Fang, the Grand Elder of Hundred Flower Valley. If you need anything in the valley, just co to ," she said warmly. Although strict with her disciples, she was notably kind to this rising genius.
"The Grand Elder?" Lin Jing was surprised but quickly asked, "Senior, I’ve heard that Hundred Flower Valley has a rare delicacy, the Hundred Flower Immortal Honey..."
"You want the Hundred Flower Immortal Honey?!" Elder Fang exclaid. The honey was a top-tier treasure, reserved for the valley master. Historically, only the sect master of the Beast Taming Sect—when married to the valley master—had ever been granted a taste.
Elder Fang’s expression turned thoughtful. "I knew it! My instincts were right. You’re young and don’t want to take unnecessary detours. Very good, I support you!"
Lin Jing was stunned. "Huh?"
Why couldn’t he understand what the Grand Elder was talking about?
