Vol 2 Chapter 58: The Demonic Sky Sect
Dragon Transformation Blood Pool
With Lin Jing and the mosquito beasts holding the area, no one dared contend with the Dragon Palace for control of the pool. Over ti, the region beca exclusive to the Dragon Palace disciples, with no outsiders daring to intrude.
Soaking in the blood of a Demon Emperor, the disciples experienced remarkable growth, with most nearing a breakthrough to the mid-Foundation Establishnt stage. Their dragon-blooded pet beasts reaped even greater rewards, with nearly all early-stage Foundation Establishnt beasts advancing to mid-stage.
The most alarming transformation, however, was in the mosquito swarm. Egg after egg was laid into the blood pool, leaving the Dragon Palace disciples horrified yet reluctant to intervene.
By absorbing the Dragon Blood’s nutrients, the swarm rapidly multiplied, with hundreds of eggs descending into the pool in monts. Though the eggs hadn’t yet hatched, the swelling swarm was becoming unstoppable.
“This can’t continue,” Lin Jing muttered, realizing the situation was spiraling out of control.
While he could barely suppress the current swarm of several hundred mosquitoes with his Myriad Beast Circle and Beast Taming Physique, containing over a thousand would be impossible without upgrading the circle’s quality to mid-grade. The current artifact was only low-grade, already nearing its limit.
“We need to feed a batch of them to the Fla Dragon Carp soon,” he sighed.
Just as Lin Jing pondered solutions, the Pine Leaf Mouse appeared, dragging a vine laden with goods.
“Hey! Hey! Hey!”
Its high-pitched squeaks echoed as it approached, causing every Dragon Palace mber to glance up—and freeze in shock.
The vine was bundled with countless storage pouches and magical artifacts that had been refined and couldn’t fit into spatial storage.
“What the—?! Did it soak in too much blood and fry its brain?” Xu Zhizhi exclaid. “Didn’t Lin Jing send it to investigate the malignant plants on the eastern mountain? Why is it hauling back a mountain of loot?”
The Pine Leaf Mouse landed and t Lin Jing’s gaze. In that mont, he understood everything. Lin Jing sighed, a mix of amusent and exasperation flashing across his face.
Without hesitation, he transferred 90% of his true energy into the mouse, replenishing its depleted reserves. With its mana partially restored, the Pine Leaf Mouse eagerly gulped down pills, its vitality returning. It squeaked with excitent, ready to rush back into the fray.
“Don’t overdo it,” Lin Jing warned. “Drive them off, but don’t cause too much trouble. Our Beast Taming Sect already has a bad reputation—we should leave a good impression.”
anwhile, the geniuses who had been chasing the Pine Leaf Mouse intended to reclaim their stolen treasures, thinking it had run out of energy. But as they pursued, the mouse suddenly regained its strength, brimming with ferocity.
“Run!!!”
The mouse’s fearso glare sent the geniuses scrambling in terror, more afraid of losing additional resources than their pride.
Above the clouds, the academy teachers watched the bizarre scene unfold. A single squirrel spirit was now chasing geniuses from various factions up and down the mountain.
“This year’s Autumn Hunt has truly broadened my horizons,” Tianji Pavilion’s Tian Huihua remarked. “It seems no one among the remaining students can handle Lin Jing’s tricks. That Liu fellow has even given up the pursuit. I wonder what he sensed in that pinecone…”
Cao Ziwei nodded in agreent. However, thinking about the Nascent Soul-transford Divine Pine backing Lin Jing, he felt less surprised. Even among super-geniuses from Nascent Soul factions, it was rare to have a Nascent Soul expert personally shielding and ntoring them.
“But his bone age indicates he’ll soon pass thirty,” Tian Huihua noted. “If Lin Jing advances to Foundation Establishnt, he could aim for the top five on the Genius Rankings. It would be a sha if he ages out before securing a higher spot.”
The teachers murmured in agreent. “Once the Autumn Hunt ends, perhaps we can offer him opportunities to shine. A chance to train with Hidden Dragon techniques would suit soone of his caliber.”
Back at the Dragon Blood Pool, the Pine Leaf Mouse returned with another haul of resources, leaving the Dragon Palace disciples speechless.
“Lin, this… this is…” Xu Zhizhi stamred, his faith in the Pine Leaf Mouse wavering.
“It’s fine,” Lin Jing reassured him, understanding Xu Zhizhi’s concerns. “The weak have no diplomacy. If we appear strong, our position will improve.”
“That’s true, but…” Xu Zhizhi hesitated.
“And most of this will be returned,” Lin Jing added. “Refined artifacts are too troubleso to reforge, and we’ll return items of personal significance. We’ll only keep spirit stones, pills, and talismans.”
As he spoke, his gaze fell on a scroll clutched by the Pine Leaf Mouse. Unrolling it revealed a painting of a stunning, unclothed immortal maiden. Lin Jing shook his head. “This must be deeply important to whoever owned it. Return it.”
Relieved, Xu Zhizhi sighed. “At least you have so sense of decency.”
“Have them redeem their treasures with spirit stones,” Lin Jing said with a sly smile.
Xu Zhizhi: “???”
“They have to pay? You might as well ask them to kill outright!”
Lin Jing chuckled, leaving Xu Zhizhi to handle the logistics.
Monts later, Gao Sheng erged from the blood pool, grumbling about its lack of excitent compared to his family’s dicinal baths. He approached Lin Jing, speaking in hushed tones.
“Lin, your pet is at Foundation Establishnt now. Doesn’t that count as you reaching it too? Once the Autumn Hunt ends, how about teaming up to solve a case?”
Lin Jing rolled his eyes. “What case?”
Gao Sheng’s tone turned conspiratorial. “Rember what I ntioned about the now-extinct Demonic Sky Sect?”
“This case involves uncovering the true identity of the Demonic Sky Sect’s leader. There are no traces of him in the Tianyuan Continent, almost as if he ca from another celestial realm entirely!”
“If we can prove he’s an otherworldly demon, my Nascent Soul patriarch might even get a promotion!”
“The ruins of the Demonic Sky Sect are located in the Air Domain!”
“Go soak in the blood pool,” Lin Jing muttered, cold sweat running down his back. He had expected nothing but trouble from Gao Sheng’s sches.
