VALENCIA’S POV
"So, are you ready to enter the party of one of the most notorious gangs in the state?" Aiden asked , probably hoping to see so fear in my eyes.
Oh boy, now who is supposed to tell him that I have shed more blood in the last six weeks than he might’ve in his entire life?
Then again, it’s not like it bothers at all. I am good at pretending to be naive and clueless.
Or that’s what I thought until I walked inside the venue and looked at the snipers on display.
What the hell?
Aiden and his dad held such high-tech snipers in this state? They weren’t even available in the entire nation.
"Isn’t that the famous Light sniper that is said to shoot a bullet at the speed of light with one of the best recoils and aim assist in the market?" I asked Aiden.
He looked at for a few seconds before he held my hand and forced to walk in another direction.
But why was he taking there? I wasn’t even done admiring those pretty guns.
Weren’t they on display for visitors like us to admire?
"Aiden-"
"I am not even going to ask how and why you know so much about this stuff, but you better keep your mouth shut here. If they hear you being so detailed about such things, they won’t think twice before wanting to recruit you again," Aiden said and I cleared my throat, rembering the last ti.
I made a ’zipping my mouth’ shut action, and he shook his head at before pulling towards the entrance of so kind of hall.
It was marvelous.
I won’t lie.
Though Aiden said it was just a small gathering for one of the most influential and powerful in the state and his father’s associates (only the good ones who won’t attack anyone just for fun), it was decorated like it was so kind of high posh celebrity party.
The hall was big enough to have a building made on it. There was a large chandelier hanging in the middle of the hall, the kind of chandelier they show in movies.
Around 20 chandeliers, half of the main one’s size, decorated the entire hall.
It was a party for the rich no doubt.
And if they spent so much decoration, just how much they must’ve spent on food? The thought imdiately crossed my mind, and I turned to the food aisle imdiately.
However, before my feet could take there, the enemy of my food and appetite, held my hand firmly.
"No, Valencia, you are not going to eat before eting my father. The party has only started and no one is there," Aiden said.
I wanted to pout, but I knew he was right in his own way, thus, I followed him to where his father had finally arrived and was standing with a glass of champagne in his hand.
"Dad," Aiden said and the man imdiately turned to .
"Valencia, sweetheart. How have you been?" He asked before he shook my hand.
"Guys, you already know my son, Aiden. This is his girlfriend, Valencia," Aiden’s dad said smoothly while I stood there feeling surprised.
"Haha, you joke a lot, dad. I told you I am still pursuing her," Aiden handled the matter swiftly, and I breathed a sigh of relief.
Seeing how his grip tightened on my hand, my gaze followed the direction he was looking in, and seeing a well-built handso man entering the venue, I couldn’t help but feel intrigued.
Where have I seen this man? He looked strangely familiar.
"Don’t go near that man," Aiden said, and knowing all too well how dangerous people in this part could be regardless of being human, I nodded my head diligently.
However, it was almost as if that man heard us too. He started walking towards us with a big smile on his face, a smile that didn’t look harmful, but the vibes he was giving off were surely dominating, my senses could feel it. The man was trying to dominate Aiden.
"Pretty lady," The man said as he nodded at Aiden in greeting before extending his hand towards .
I looked at him, dumbfounded, not even moving.
"You don’t need to greet her," Aiden said, wrapping his hand around securely.
"There is no need to get your pants into knots, Aiden. I am greeting her because we have t before," the man looked at before he smiled, his eyes crinkling.
Have we t? But where? Aren’t supernatural people like us supposed to have a sharp mory? Why wasn’t I able to rember where I t him?
Could it be that just like my wolf my mory was defected too?
’Hey,’ Aurora imdiately chid in and I grinned at her inwardly.
"Co on, you are making look like the bad guy here now. Don’t you rember? The black horse with the white patch?" The man asked.
Aiden looked at for the answers.
And now that this man ntioned the horse, I imdiately rembered where I saw him.
He was the owner of the stable where I went horse riding because I thought it was really cool how those heroines in those movies shoot arrows while being on the horse.
Well, I might not be so heroine, but what was wrong in wanting to live your dream? That was the reason I went to that stable.
It was after a week I t this guy. There was this black horse with white patches that was my favorite of all and I liked to ride it only, but that day this guy had that horse and we got into a little argunt.
I wasn’t letting go of my ground and insisted on riding that particular horse only until the manager told he was the owner of the horse and the stable.
To say I was embarrassed for acting that way would be an understatent.
However, this man was really thoughtful and said it was his honor that soone was this adamant about his favorite horse because his horse was quite loyal and didn’t really let just anyone sit on him.
Now how was I supposed to tell him that the horse probably let sit on him because I was an animal myself?
"Do you rember now?" The man asked, a knowing smirk on his face, and I humd before stepping ahead, not liking how he was looking down on my friend.
"Yes, I rember you," I said every word with a smile before letting Aurora step ahead a little to exert so dominance.
I might not be anything in front of people of my species, but these were humans we were talking about. I was obviously stronger than them.
"I thought you were quite beautiful last ti too but nothing and no one beats your beauty tonight," The man said, and I smiled at him.
"Well, I wish we could stop and talk to you for longer, but I need to eat sothing now," I said to him before pulling Aiden away.
As soon as we walked so distance, I looked at him with raised brows.
"What happened? Why were you standing there like you got the biggest shock of your life?" I asked, and he looked at with an angry gaze, his glare surprising .
"You rode his horse? The black one with white patches?" He asked, and I nodded my head a bit hesitant.
What was his deal?
"Is sothing wrong?" I asked and was about to ask him if he was angry because I was talking to him when he grabbed my elbow, his fingers digging into my skin, making furrow my brows.
"Well, that horse was the one that took my best friend’s life and the reason I hate that man with the bottom of my heart," He said, his glare only deepening.
’How dare he, a re human, touch us like that?’ Aurora asked.
I tried to calm her down because Aiden was our friend.
However, when I slt the scent of my own blood, I looked at where he was holding my hand, his nails digging, drawing blood.
I could see all the thoughts where I was thinking about not snapping at him, going down the drain.
"Aiden, you are hurting ," I told him.
"Well, what you did hurt too. I told you not to interact with him, didn’t I? Why didn’t you listen to ?" He asked, and I narrowed my eyes on him.
"I didn’t know what happened to you or your friend before you told . How do you expect to -?"
"Shut up! Just shut the hell up, Valencia. You better not speak about it," he said.
I was done with it. I wasn’t living here so that so other human could treat like this.
With a glare of my own, I grabbed his hand and was about to jerk it away when soone beat to it and removed his hand from my mind with a jerk.
And before I could react, I saw Aiden on the ground with his lips bleeding.
My eyes widened and I looked at my side where Carl was glaring at him.
However, he wasn’t the one who punched Aiden.
It was...
Shadow?
