VALENCIA’S POV
"What can we serve you today?" I walked to the table to take their orders and the boys smiled.
"Val, how have you been? We heard what happened in that cafe. Are you okay?" One of the boys I knew was going to our adjacent University asked, and I smiled.
"Nothing to worry about when Cia is here," I winked and they chuckled before placing their orders.
"Order for table no. 7," I said on the counter before walking to another table and taking their order.
Once I took the three orders of the new custors, I sighed and leaned on the side.
Though it wasn’t that busy, the constant walking was definitely taking a toll on my wounds.
While I was busy relaxing, I heard the bell at the entrance ring which ant new custors.
Seriously, why can’t people cook at their houses too? I gritted my teeth, but then I slt him, his heavy scent wafted through my nostrils, making open my eyes imdiately before I hid behind the pillar.
What the hell was he doing here?
’Well, he clearly told you to wait for him after the lectures. But what did you do? You applied for the sick off and then you ca here. Obviously, he followed ,’ Aurora said, and I chuckled at her self-centered behavior.
However, that smile froze when my gaze t with the manager.
"Valencia? What are you doing here?" He asked, and I widened my eyes.
"Shh!! Keep it down," I hushed him.
The beta would probably hear him because of his werewolf hearing.
"What are you asking to shush for? Is everything okay? Are we playing so kind of ga here?" The manager asked , and I pressed my lips into a thin line.
"Well, you see that dangerous-looking man that just entered. He is a loan shark and has probably co for . Can I stay hidden until he leaves?" I asked, and the manager looked at Shadow.
"He indeed looks like soone who can kill you with one punch. Don’t worry. You go inside. I will handle this," the manager said, and I breathed a sigh of relief.
’Bravo, Val. Bravo. Your ability to co up with a lie on the spot really appalls ,’ Aurora said, and I smirked at her.
I walked inside the back room before looking at the scene from the little creak.
Co on, speak a little louder. I am not able to hear you guys. I wanted to shout at them as I watched them talking.
’Aurora, help . I want to listen,’ I said to her and she nodded. She probably wanted to hear what they were talking about too.
"Valencia is not here. She didn’t co to the cafe. In fact, she already handed in her resignation yesterday. Would you like to have sothing?" The manager asked and I nodded at him.
He was doing great. Keep going.
"Is that so? Well, I was looking for her because as her teacher I was worried about where she went after the lunch break," Shadow said.
What the hell?! Why would he say sothing like that?
"Teacher?" The manager asked, and I knew I was caught.
This was the first ti my lie didn’t work out till the end, and it was all because of this stupid handso beta.
"Yes. I am her temporary professor. Why?" Shadow said before he pulled out his teacher’s ID, and I knew I was gone.
I wasn’t left with any other choice anymore.
After taking out my backpack from the locker, I snuck my way toward the window, ready to jump out of it and run away. The money can wait. I needed to run away for now.
Yes. I was running. Valencia Brooklyn who doesn’t fear anything was running because she wasn’t ready to face her emotions.
Throwing my backpack on the other side, I was about to jump out when the door of the back room opened, and I looked at the manager in horror.
"Valencia, you brat! Co here," he exclaid, and I chuckled awkwardly.
Honestly, the only reason I stayed working in this cafe even after all this ti was all because the manager here was so friendly and caring. However, he can really be scary sotis.
He had scolded once about bunking lectures and this ti he caught red-handed.
"Mr. Manager, let tell you sothing, sotis what we see isn’t the truth. And what we don’t see is the truth," I said.
"Is that so? So what’s the truth here?" I heard Shadow’s voice, and I gulped.
"You can leave, sir. I will handle her," Shadow said, and I shook my head.
No. I don’t want to be handled.
I tried to jump on the other side but my abdon suddenly ached terribly and my foot slipped, making land on my butt.
"Valencia!" The manager rushed to along with Shadow, and I rubbed my ass, feeling wronged.
"Are you okay?" The manager asked, and I gritted my teeth.
"What okay? I am definitely not okay. If you could’ve let run away, I wouldn’t have fallen like this," I moaned in pain.
Why was it hurting so damn much? Did I hurt my tailbone or sothing? Wait. Is my cat’s tail fractured? Is that even a thing?
"Stupid girl. Look at you blaming others for what you did. Who asked you to run in the first place?" Shadow asked before he looked at the manager.
"Can you give us a mont? Ensure to lock the door," Shadow asked, and the manager left us alone, completely betraying .
I swear I will rember this betrayal.
"Let help you," Shadow said, and I extended my hand for him to be able to pick up easily with a pout.
Shadow looked at for a second before shaking his head.
"You are the funniest one I have seen I swear,"
"So you have seen other girls? What? Tasted them too? Horizontal or vertical?" I scoffed before I widened my eyes when the realization dawned upon .
What the hell did I just say? And why the hell did I even have to think about that?
’Aurora, you slut!!’ I growled at my wolf who probably pushed these words in my head.
’Well, your question is valid. I want to hear the answer,’ Aurora smirked innocently, and I rolled my eyes while I looked at Shadow who had an amused expression on his face as he lifted effortlessly and placed on the couch, a sense of Deja Vu hitting .
Why do we keep ending up on the couches in the cafes because of one thing or the other?
"I wanted to ask you why you ran away but I guess I have to answer your question first. I have seen many girls," He said, and I looked away, feeling a weird pang in my heart.
Well, why did it matter? I was about to tell him the sa when he gripped my chin, forcing to look into his eyes.
"I have seen many girls, but I have never felt anything for them. To , they are just moving bodies. You are the first one I want to connect myself to.
Kissed how many girls? It’s true I have t my mate already and kissed her once, but it was on her cheeks before she left ," he said, and I felt a flicker of emotions in his eyes that was gone as quickly as it arrived.
Though I wasn’t an expert on reading eyes, I could sense emotions and what he felt for his mate was straight-loathing, even worse than what I have for Tyler.
Why is that? What- I couldn’t even complete my thoughts when he suddenly rubbed my lips bringing out of my thoughts.
"You are the only person I have kissed for real. Horizontal or vertical? I have done it only horizontally. However, if you allow , I want to do it vertically too," Shadow said, licking his bottom lip, doing nothing to hide his lewd thoughts from .
To say my heart skipped a beat before drumming in my chest would be an understatent, I honestly felt a beat in my womanhood too, if that was even a thing as he looked at with his eyes turning dark.
"I... I need to go dress shopping and -" I stuttered, feeling hot all over.
"Mm, I know. I am not stopping you," he smirked before he looked down at my lips, and I felt the excitent building inside my stomach.
I wanted him to kiss too.
But...
"I think you can move your hands," I whispered when I realized his hand was still around .
"Is that so?" He asked , the cunning expression on his face, puzzling .
"What-"
My question was answered before I could even ask.
He placed his hands right on my ass ticulously before squeezing it softly.
"Does it hurt here?" He asked with a boyish smirk, and I swear if he wasn’t this handso I would’ve smacked him for touching like this.
"Squeeze it one more ti and I will see to it you lose your-mmm!" The rest of the words were cut short when he placed his lips on mine again.
What the hell was this man’s problem? How can he... I gritted my teeth before biting his bottom lip in pure anger, making him hiss.
However, as soon as I tasted his blood, everything went black for .
