"Here," Shadow extended his hand and wiped the corner of my lips as I was drinking so cold coffee while watching TV with him.
Yes, we sorted and checked so assignnt sheets after having dinner and were now watching a horror film because both of us agreed they were another form of cody these days.
I looked at his side profile as he sipped his coffee while watching TV and couldn’t help but sigh.
He was so natural at this. It made wonder how many girls he really has been with.
"What are you looking at?" He asked after so ti, and I shook my head, unsure of why the thought of him being with many girls made sad.
"Want to lie down a little?" He asked.
"Will you be okay with that?" I asked, and he smiled before nodding.

He thought I would put my feet on his lap, and my head on the hand support. But what was I doing?

"Ohh, I... I am sorry," I whispered, my heart drumming in my chest, and I was about to sit straight when he placed his hand on my shoulders, securing where I was, leaving with no other choice but to lie down completely.

I felt a weird excitent in my stomach, and for once, rather than averting my gaze, I looked at him straight in the eyes even after being caught.
"Why are you suddenly being so nice to ?" I asked.

However, he pushed back down, pulling up and close in a way that my head was right under his neck and more than half of my body was between his legs.

How can he hug so calmly after saying sothing like this? My head was a complete ss now.

I was about to ask him to be more clear with his choice of words when I felt my phone vibrating in my pocket.
Seriously? Sotis I believe those movies. People find the weirdest and wrong tis to call soone.
With a sigh, I got up before fishing out my phone and walking so distance.
"Hello?" I said casually, not wanting Shadow to think I was having so kind of shady business.
"Mam," the whimpering sound ca from the other side, and all the feelings I was having earlier, dissipated in a second.
I took a deep shaky breath.
This voice, the tremble behind this voice only ant one thing. They were in trouble, and I cleared my throat, wanting to keep emotions neutral.
"What is it?" I asked.
"They took her away, Mam. M-my wife... It was an hour ago. We had a shortage of wood. Mona said I should bring more wood for her because she was feeling cold, and it wasn’t good for the baby. I went to collect the wood, but by the ti I returned, no one was there. They took her away, mam. My unborn baby... She... She is in no position to fight back," The man whimpered and cried on the other side.
I couldn’t help but lock my jaws.
"Any recent activity?" I asked, keeping my words as precise as I could.
"Alpha’s son of the Black Haze pack. He has been eyeing my wife for quite so ti. He tried to sneak into our camp earlier too, and that was the reason we shifted away at so distance. However, he... He wanted to sleep with her and - " The man paused, clearly finding it hard to say anything.
"That’s enough. Let see what I can do," I said before ending the call.

"Is everything alright?" Shadow asked with quirked brows, and I smiled at him.
"Yeah, it was just my friend who needed my help with sothing. It’s quite late too. We shouldn’t stay together for such an extended period, lest it would be frowned upon. Can I trust you to lock the doors and place the key under the doormat before leaving?" I asked, wanting to give clear signals that I was indirectly asking him to leave.

"Yeah, I guess. I should leave," He stood, making sigh gratefully.
Once he left, I locked the doors and all the windows before leaving my lakehouse, not before leaving a note for Carl that I would be back soon.
I opened the maps and saw that the so-called Black Haze pack was around 150 km away from here.
It would be foolish to change into any of my forms to go there.
I dialed Aiden’s number.
"Hello? What is it, Valencia? It’s almost 1 in the morning -"
"Send soone with a bike with a full tank to the Forest junction within fifteen minutes. It’s urgent," I said before ending the call.
I looked around, and once I ensured no one was there, I started running towards the forest junction myself.
